He knew as long as Jet Li was around he wouldn't be voted in as the new master. So he said Jet Li must get rid of his Japanese wife or girlfriend if he wants to stay. They have rule no Japanese allowed. Not official rule but one made up on the spot by the jealous guy. The others didn't object because many hated the Japanese especially during that time of Japanese forces occupying many parts of China. Beats the dude and could of stayed because he won the match but leaves anyways with his girl because that's just the kind of guy Jet Li is. Unlike the other guy who is jealous of Li. He leaves to avoid tension among everybody as it would be best that way for all involved.
