I never understood benching Hank brown so early, he had an opportunity to prove himself in the second half of the Arkansas game and he was benched. In my opinion, there is not enough of a difference between Hank and Peyton in terms of performance. Hank would spread the ball around better as well.
@@slimmdusty8809 only 1 or arguably 2 of those interceptions were his fault. Cam dropped the other one and tipped it in the air. I’m not saying he was the best but it would’ve been nice to see how he responded to adversity. We’ve seen Peyton thorn play a full game with 4 interceptions and not getting benched. Even if it was only for one series I would’ve liked to see it.
@@atrain6325 That’s fine, I get 1 wasn’t his fault but he still threw 3 and was just not living up to the moment or ready, almost all coaches would have pulled him. I understand that you wanted to see more and at this point I couldn’t really care who plays but the thing is it’s not gonna be any better with him or he’d be playing. Plus Thorne wasn’t the reason we lost to Missouri, Robert Lewis, Towns, the defense not making a dang play on the QB were the reasons we did. Thorne isn’t a super star but even when he makes a great pass a guy like Robert Lewis let’s it go right through his hands.
@@autk We went over this 1000 times a few weeks ago, its clear you got bias towards Hank and can’t see the obvious with him, pointless to do again. In short it was his reads = not ready for an SEC defense, yet here you go as usual spinning things if you are calling me a Thorne apologist. I wanted him benched after Cal, I’ve told you I do not care who starts beyond Oklahoma now. Just Mizzou wasn’t on Thorne, he was 176YD, 17/29, 1TD, 0INT, he threw a game winning perfect ball that went through the hands of Lewis, you can’t deny that, so you tell me how Hank manages to get him to catch the football or the left tackle to block? You gotta start looking beyond just the problems at QB and realize it’s more than even that wrong here it’s team wide and they make loser mistakes everywhere.
My gut feeling is Auburn should be at around 9 wins this year. Inadequate quarterback play (PT is 12 in SEC QBR) is costing us at least two wins. Poor coaching and player utilization is costing us at least three wins. This is assuming we can get the four wins this year. Big swing and a miss, grossly underperforming, not getting it done, screwed up, etc. no matter how you slice it the regression in year 2 is a complete screw up. Freeze better have a solid quarterback and no excuses about learning new systems and get to 8 wins comfortably next year. Nine wins should be the goal.
There are stats that prove we are better than our record shows but at the end of the day we watch and we see that this team finds a way to lose. The trend has to end eventually. So in the meanwhile, we are what our record says we are until the team decides they want to win.
Auburn is exactly what their record says they are. The metrics might show you're top 7 in one cherry picked stat, The game is won on the field, and the field shows something veery different. We look terrible when it counts. I don't like this headline when we're worse than any other time in history. War Eagle guys
A coach can ramp up training practice in a way that don’t turn off the players. Increasing sternness and intensity while explaining why it is necessary to do so is expected of football players at this level. That also have to start with the coaching staff in the coach meeting as well. There is an oblivious need for the coaching staff and the players to refine the way they review film of both their last game performance as well as the way they review the plays of the next team they are preparing for.
Stats like that prove our coach needs to get his act together. Not saying he should be fired. He just needs to get focused on winning with what he has NOW. Next year will take care of itself.
I absolutely wanna hear it Zac. I too believe that Auburn is close. And, once we win one of these games, hopefully Kentucky, I think the dam will break and we win more and more!!
I love hearing this about Coach Freeze coaching players harder at practice now. I do remember back when No. 1 recruit in the nation Byron Cowart came to Auburn when Will Muschamp was the DC. Between him and DL Coach Rodney Garner, who coaches as hard as anyone, Cowart was crying for his mama and transferred away. Hopefully Hugh can figure out the right method.
Also, Auburn offense is number 70 in points per game in the nation and defense is number 40 in nation. Those numbers were probably go lower by the time the season is over. What we should have is probably a number 35 type team, but we were playing like a number 80 team.
That Ben Steven tweet should be taken with a grain of salt. The numbers are inflated by two blowout wins vs cupcakes. The offensive numbers are dramatically lower vs Power 4 teams. The most important stat is scoring, and AU is averaging 15.8 ppg vs Power 4 opponents.
All those teams except Army have played at least 2 cupcakes, for example Indiana has played 3 including a 77-3 blowout against a woeful Western IL team.
Those teams except Auburn have quarterbacks that like to do good quarterback things and throw balls away under pressure instead of taking sacks and throwing picks.
Let’s go Auburn all the way to the end and on top. Let’s go to the finish line this time we can do it. I have confidence in all of you. Go play hard and fight till you’re the winner. Those guys on locked on Auburn talks to much some time just to hear themselves. War Eagle 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🏈🏈🏈
Idc if people say I'm delusional for thinking that Auburn is close. I have bet against Auburn the past 2 games, I was totally right with what happened in those game, but for this game I'm taking Auburn 100%. 28-13 Auburn.
Close just isn’t good enough in football. That’s our issue I think is we have the mentality of “let’s play it close”. Then everybody keeps saying “let’s give Freeze time to get it figured out” when I hate to tell yall it’s not a recruiting issue at this point. It’s a failure on multiple levels when you are 2-5. You can’t get away with 2-5. Why are we all of a sudden okay with this? Blows my mind.
If kids leave because the HC is hard on them then good riddance. Coaches in the NFL will not treat them with kid gloves and shouldn’t. Life is not fair and it’s really hard on whiners! If you are thin skinned and mentally soft then maybe football is not for you.
One of the reasons Saban retired was player entitlement. Players are "sensitive" and "get there feelings hurt." It s almost impossible to keep players because of the transfer portal options combined with the NIL opportunities. Forced allegiance and discipline has left the building. Hopefully the change in attitude can weed out the wheat from the tare. May not keep all these "star" players but soft coaching breeds soft players.
Feels a LITTLE lame? Extremely lame. The stat that matters is 2-5. Everything else is sunshine pumping. Until we start winning games, the other stuff does not matter.
I think "better" is what most people want. They aren't expecting a miracle yet just progressive competance. So, for that reason I don't think we are better or getting better. We are finding new ways to regress. It's just frustrating. There has to be bottom, right? Right?
No we suck. Peyton needs to be gone yesterday. Play calling is questionable 75% of the time. Defense holds for 3 quarters then gives it up because they’re gassed from being on the field all game. Szn is over give up the gimmick
They keep talking about the defense is doing it but they are 12th in total defense in the SEC and that is with playing two garbage teams and adding Cal,Oklahoma, and Mizzou who are just bad on offense. Uga is really good and Arkansas is average but one dimensional. So being 12th vs those offenses as a whole is just bad. Should be top 5 vs that schedule.
Hope Freeze stops coaching not to lose as well as coaching harder. Wonder if there’s a bet for 73 whiffing on the first pass play and giving up a sack.
What freeze is talking about is a little late he's already a handful this is not news problem is Trigger man , should have been spending all this time coaching up HANK, he's your guy, quit fighting it or continue to pay the price 🎉
The point about Freeze coaching scared is not all that's wrongly Freeze is just a bad coach with assistant coaches that have all been together to long, set in their way, and aren't changing anything. If I performed this badly at my job I would be fired with cause...let regroup, FIRE EVERY SINGLE PLAYER, COACH, ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, then re-hire Coach Cadillac and watch a real coach build a WINNING football team.

Auburn is not better than people think. The stats are fine. But you aren’t good if you’re not winning games and auburn constantly chokes on its own balls week after week. Auburn is exactly what we all know Auburn is. Unfortunately

I suspected that Freeze wasn’t coaching these guys as hard because you go back and watch some of his speeches/ press conferences at Ole Miss and he was a lot more edgy!
Auburn is pathetic. I graduated in 2010 and we were good but never great in my time there. Now, we are just in the worst era ever in Auburn history. It's not getting better, but I have to have hope.
