I had met Jimmy in public settings a few time . He never broke character yet was never rude . He was polite but kept things short . Probably to protect his gimmick . He was very dedicated . In learning about this era I have yet to hear from anyone that Jimmy Wehba was anything but a classy guy
Akbar was one of the first wrestling characters that truly scared me. Oh he was menacing. I didn't discover wrestling til maybe 1976 or so and it was NWA Tri-State on whatever channel here in Okla. City. I ever remember his stomping on some babyface's forehead with the heel of his shoe. Never forgot that.
My fondest memory of Akbar: at a small house show in a nearby school gym (mid-70s), he was getting major heat from my Mom (we were on the front row), so Akbar threw Ray Candy at her.
@@pooddescrewch8718 You're probably right. I was really young, and this was a BS house show in a small town. Maybe 1976 or so. I don't recall a belt on him when he came out.
I wish Scabdor was still here when I loved The Sportatorium in Dallas and when he mentioned that Fritz Von Erich did not own the Sportatorium so it was never updated but I wish Scandor had been asked if Fritz had owned The Sportatorium does he think the building would have been uodated. Also if Fritz attempted to buy the Sportatorium.
I recall Skandor Akbar appeared in the WWWF during the mid 1970s at the same time the Original Sheik was wrestling as a main event attraction in other territories
I love his mid-Texas accent “ I started in Nineteen -Sixty Tew “ . Nothing weong with it but its distinct and you aren’t hearing regional accents like that anymore . I did think it slightly took away from his gimmick , though . Not as bad as horribly put on Arabic accent though . Maybe thats why he never affected one ?
David was the star of the Von Erich family if all things were considered . He was the best in the ring , the best interview and understood the business better than any of his brothers. His death spelled doom for the for the promotion .
3 things that would have changed wrestling. 1. If Vince Sr had made Superstar Billy Graham a baby face and gave him the run in the late 70s 2. David’s death 3. Magnum TAs car wreck
I would have had him touch upon his feud with Danny Hodge . It was epic . They started as tag team partners . The question then was who was stronger ? Had Danny met his match ( He didn’t ) ?
I hate it, but I believe vince would have put them out of business. vkm came out exposing the business and turned it into a cartoon show, which was death to the "real" wrestling promotions.
The only way that Vince could run opposition in Dallas would have been to woo away The Von Erichs . WCCW was the safest promotion in terms of having their talent raided
@@pooddescrewch8718 Great point on the opposition, but he would have done other things he did to other promotions. he would have and did buy up their heels and sabotage their tv syndications.
Skandor Ackbar! Legendary manager. Those early wccw days was absolutely golden. Great interview!
Such a great manager. Stories tell how strong he was, physically. I loved hating him in Mid-South and WCCW.
I shook hands with Scador Akbar. In Tulsa back stage and Tahlequah. Great man.
That was some good tv watchin back then. Thanks for posting , great to relive it .
The after match brawl between Kerry and Flair in 1982, the Freebird- Killer Khan Akbar brawl was ground breaking at the time and great great stuff.
The General, he always did a great of stacking Heels. He always kept a strong Army.Akbar and Buddy Landell was TV gold!!

territory wrestling with managers was the best. miss it a lot, none of that today
Met him in Tulsa, always in character, great talker as well.
Skandar was the guy we all loved to hate. Great interview!
One of the Greatest!

@@pooddescrewch8718 Arkansas.
@@DoktorRotwang Ok Ray Candy was Arkansas Champion

I love the under talking kept in these interviews Gary has done a great job.
Eric Embry got SUPER OVER . It was so strange to see
Such a nice guy. Great manager!
Wild West Wrestling was syndicated in my area but it was minor league .
Keep these coming 💯🔥🔥🔥
Akbar was the NWA North American Champion when I first started watching wrestling .
My grandma hated Skandar Akbar. She loved it when Hacksaw Duggan tore his clothes off that time.

Read about what a great guy he was.Dustin Rhoades was trained by him and spoke highly of him in his autobiography.
Great heel manager

Why are you asking Skandar about other people's lives and not his own? That's what we want to hear about!!

One other thing. Ole and Jim Barnett’s falling out with each other in Atlanta
@@deanw0rmerThe Briscos selling to Vince was huge but so was JCP buying Vince out for $1,000,000 . Without that cash , no Wrestlemania

I wish Gary had did 4 hours with Scandor because he was so knowledgeable now if course hes gone and that can't happen. A great chance now gone.
Frankie caine good man
Frankie was Jimmy Wehba’s cousin
Scandor was a great guy away from the ring where he had to put that nasty act on.

He worked for mid Atlantic also
I never saw him in MACW but during the Great American Bash shows in 1985. Ak was great though.
RIP
