I think it's time for Hyundai and Kia to release a RWD sportscar... With an N variant...
Stinger and Genesis are pretty close to that?
@@LawrenceAbramoff Yeah but they need a 2 door competitor...
I would love to see that.. the stinger and Genesis need a N mode
@@RossReviewsau The stinger needs a muffler delete and ESP that can actually be fully disabled and where manual actually means manual not just for 30 sec
@@LawrenceAbramoff EV6?
The loudest exhaust note in its class and he’s like “I hoped for more” 😂🤷🏻♂️
Dude, it’s a €26k mini hot hatch and louder than ANYTHING in the same bracket.
I still wanted more 🤣🤷♂️ still a wicked hatch 🐣
I love the i20N on tiktok I told you to give it a rev in N mode
We send it hard 🤘
Amazing video my mate justed ordered one love the channel give us more aussie muscle
Did you good stuff! More muscle is on the way 🇦🇺🤘
Another great review JR, thanks mate ...
Thank you mark!
I have one of these little fire crackers, the car is awesome. The ride's a bit crashy (no adjustable dampers, by the way, if you don't mind my correcting it), but the handling is spot on, light and agile, you can just throw it around and it goes.
I find the pedals are just fine, but I can only heel & toe with my foot in a "vertical" position (like this | and not like this \). The sound could be better, it lacks some roar. But I love the crackles when you let off the gas at high RPM's. It's a keeper.
great info mate! yes sorry for that mistake you're right.. amazing money for value! and the handling is truly amazing!
So I won't regret putting an order in for a six month wait ?
@@ljp1942 I just did.. going to be a long 6 months..
Just ordered one from Hyundai told it's a six month wait sure it will be worth it.
You will love it very fun car
buy mine 40k
@@jayonefive234 Rather pay 50k to a car dealer than scalper scum.
@@ljp1942 now thats just silly!
The exhaust sound's not too bad for a stock system, though I would still want to tweak/change it a little ............all of it, maybe🤔. Look's like a fun little car👍👌. I have a soft spot for a small hot hatch, my first car was a 2 door KE TX3 Ford laser.
Hot hatches are always so fun.. this sounds ok.. def could be improved with a aftermarket set up🤘
I pick mine up next week and i’m so excited 😁
great cars!
Using launch control eats up time. If you want the optimal 0-100km times you gotta manual launch it at 2500-3000rpm
That could make sense as I was way off the time
Would love you to do a back to back with this vs the new MK8.5 Fiesta ST. I got one coming to drive around without having to worry about people stealing it as would be the case with the XR8
Was gunna say he needs to do the Fiesta ST review.
I would love to try a new fiesta
@@RossReviewsau mines been on order for 14 months. Not holding my breath anymore. It may never arrive at this rate lol
Excellent review and I've watched hours in regards to this beauty, I've ordered one in silver just got a call from the Excellent sales guy at Mandurah hyundai in Western Australia telling me car here in around 6 weeks, very exciting.
I just put an order down myself, just out of curiosity, how long ago did you order yours? Im just hoping mine doesnt take 6 months or more to arrive :(
glad it was helpful! really awesome little car.. well worth the price youll love it
@@killer2miller23 6months arrives in August in Western Australia 🇦🇺 this year
How is it going so far , are you enjoying it?
The pops and bangs sounded very good for the I 20 n
Not bad but nothing like the i30N
Your right you can't beat the i30 n
What a brilliant car, it looks like fun, whatever speed you're going 😍😍😍. Hahaha loved the cooking segment!
🤣 glad you enjoyed the chef 👨🍳 bit 😂😂😂
@@RossReviewsau it cracked me up😁
Good on Hyundai for having 3 cool affordable hot N hatches on the market at the same time ! 👍👌
Bit silly really. They only needed 1, 1 good one. Not 4 mediocre ones.
I appreciate them for doing it also! Gives people choice
@@Mexxx65 people will complain regardless smh 🤡
@@Mexxx65 one size doesn't fit all
7:00 you say the dampers are adjustable but they aren't! i20N fixed dampers was my only gripe when I recently test drove one for a possible daily...very jittery and harsh with our local roads my concern it might rattle to death!
Sorry my mistake if I did say that… your correct in that they are fixed dampers.. it’s firm but I could live with it
Can't say about this car but the Renault Megane rs, I didn't race the other day because I'm a responsible person, around the back roads in the glass house mountains was the same. It had the power and on the good parts of the road it was f.cking hard to keep up with and it made ground. As soon as the road turned to shit I was up it's ass in a 2001 Subaru outback 4cly and it had no hope of pulling away because it just bounced way to much and he couldn't use it. As soon as we got onto a good road he was gone.
I have found a lot of car's are way to stiff on shit road's and you can't push them as much as you would like to because they bounced back way to hard.
Where my old shit box Subaru has fa power but soaks up the bumps is just a quick when you really flog the shit out of it.
On a good road no chance at all and wouldn't even bother to have a run with them. 👍
Best value and such a fun awesome car 👍😎
Easily the best
Great review! Loved your review of the kona n as well. I ended up cancelling my i20n order and changing to the kona because of your review 😂 now this review is making me want to change back to the i20n haha. Waiting sucks and gives me too much time to doubt. Both are 6+ month waits 🤔
I reckon the Kona is better if you got the extra cash! The 2.0L is the best engine
@@RossReviewsau good to know I made the right choice! I did absolutely love the test ride in the i20n but it did feel a bit lacking in a straight line. The 2.0l imo was a big difference.
@@jacobbby93 does straight line matter on real roads with speed limits?
When you take them on the track the i20n also matches the 30 and Kona simply because of weight and being nimble too. 🤷🏻♂️
I'm tossing up between this I20n, xr5 turbo, and the brz/86. What car do think has the best overall characteristics.
Depends what you want.. xr5 turbo is my favourite of the 3 but it’s less reliable.. brz looks great, but I20N is a great safe package.. fun city car man really is
What a pity about rev hang and pedal position! I had the same complaint with the last Fiesta ST. Heel and toe is such a vital part of driving a hot hatch and the i30N felt pretty good to me. It seems like something that would cost nothing for Hyundai to fix.
It is a bit especially the rev hang.. I could live with the pedals but the rev hang on the B road really took away from the manual
Use the rev matching button and if you're in N mode it comes on automatically.
The Rev hang has gone now. There was a software update that removed it, ECU was causing it, not the Flywheel
It would be epic if you compared a new age hot hatch such as this i20n with an older age hot hatch such as honda civic fn2 type r . Very close specs, close in weight and horsepower aswell as both manual transmission. Major difference is one is turbo the other is vtec power!
The type r is slower
The dampers are passive. Unless you guys get a different spec as you don't have heated seats. Rev hang can't be measured when off throttle surely. They do suffer from it though.
sorry your right about the dampers i made a mistake about that
@@RossReviewsau I though us Brits had been short changed again 😂 we don't get blind spot warnings either😳
@@waynephatg lol for some reason here in Australia they always just only give us the nicest one.. not base models ever found here lol (for all of the N cars really)
does the rev hang disappear in track mode or N mode?
Nope!
Any plans on doing the Cerato GT ? I test drove the I20N and loved it.. the Cerato is going to have to wow me when I test drive it tomorrow. I think it's going to be a difficult decision.
i have wondered about them but i havent decided to review one yet
So which one you end up with?
@@lukemothug i20n but sold it, great car just to small
Just ordered one in black. Don't think I can wait 6 months though lol
Worth the wait 👌
Hey! How about consuption town/highways/both?
Pretty good man! I think I averaged about 8L per 100km
@@RossReviewsau Nice! And i guess if you go on highway around 120-130 it's less right?
UK 40.3 mpg
I think 3-4 rpm on launch will give you fastest 0-100 time
Is the i 20 a twin cam 2 litre turbo?
I it’s a 1.6L turbo
@@RossReviewsau same 1.6 t smartstream that comes in the elantra and kona n line with a different turbo is the only difference
ive seen 5.9s and 6.0s on stock i20n ..idk why you cant get less than 7.2 its probably something you doing i dont know
It needs a 3 inch turbo back exhaust. Listen to how it sounds unrestricted. It louder than any other n 🤷🏿♂️ my cold start shakes my house .forget about being in the garage when it starts 🤣🤣
damn! keen to hear yours eh lol
Rev hang is a part of track or sport mode to keep it in a torque point to power out of corners better. But don't quote me just a educated guess 🙄
It was hanging everywhere.. no matter the mode.. the engine is just to small to slow its self down I felt like
@@RossReviewsau The gamma 1.6(typo) isn't a great engine to start with.
@@Mexxx65 it's a 1.6 and is different variant to the other Hyundai 1.6T. Thus is one of the first engines to have variable cam duration. It's a great little engine.
I believe the rev hang is deliberate to pass emissions levels.
Rev hang is for the emissions
Hi Johnny,it's a shame about the rev hang & pedals because other than that she's a great little car & you already know that chef skit had me crying laughing man,I just get your humour Johnny haha, because I have a twisted sense of humour also only way to be,you're smashing the content out great work mate.
HAHA knew you would laugh at the chef ross skit
You should be able to get 6.2 seconds if you don't launch it.
I20N 0-100 got best time in 5.9-6 sec flat if put 3k rpm at launch control.
I couldn’t get it under 7 sadly every time and I had it for over a week
No it won't. You're dreaming.
@@RossReviewsau The car can reach 100 in second gear so you may get a better time, also turn off ESC completely. Car should also have been run in properly.
Other youtubers like carwow done 0-100 km/h in 6 seconds.!!!!
Are you from NZ? I like your tamoko
I’m part Maori 😝
Great review!! Just about every youtube review I'v seen of the i20N all they've said in them was superlative after superlative. I didn't know about the atrocious rev hang. Complete deal breaker for me. Hyundai should have dropped the 2.0L i30N motor in it and be done!!!!
Would have been too good of a car with the 2.0L engine.. I’m sure that’s why it’s got the 1.6 still awesome fun
@@RossReviewsau I wonder if the rev hang is related to the Rev Matching feature? Apparently it's not as noticeable with the rev matching disabled but as it hasn't really been an issue for me so far. But I am curious to see if it does on i20N but I'm interstate at the moment (and my baby is at home).
did you time the clio 182 at 6.5 seconds?
not sure if i had the draggy back then..
@@RossReviewsau ah that makes sense! loving your channel mate! keep up the great videos!
CHEF ROSS! 👨🍳 haha
Love a good cook up
Dont use the LC its way faster without it
Still waiting for a e series
very hard to find
@@RossReviewsau keep up the good content anyways!!
Ummm, no it doesn't have adjustable dampers like the i30Ns and the Kona N...
Yes my mistake sorry that slipped out 🤦♂️
@@RossReviewsaua great review though!!! 🤙👌

I have one .. 😊 the best WRC car... for this prize .. The Yaris is better, but the prize 😢... im Suisse ..
Still prefer the fiesta st but I like it
I’m keen to try a new fiesta
Keep ranting about putting dampers in N mode ….. Care to show us how?
gangsta
🤘🤩
For a womans car market it's probably loud enough it's pretty tidy
ahahahahaha
still looks decent..
All cars are for women really
I have come across a few I20n's in my modified 595 Abarth, and their 0-100 is absolutely in the 7-second range. When it comes to the 40 km - 140 km roll race, they are not in the same league as my Competizione. I'm not suggesting my car is as sophisticated as the Hyundai, but I guarantee my car is faster, more fun and more frustrating to car three times the price.
i would agree they would most likely have a faster 0-100.. but like you said they are 3 x the price.. the i20 is great for what it is.. cheap, fun to throw around & its still practical enough to live with :)
0-100k 6.2 sec holding 2nd gear, the car is setup for track and it's on the bends it really performs. Here in the UK straight line performance is not very relevant on everyday roads, speed cameras everywhere.
Ross i hope you and your subscribers can do a little to help the fossel fuel car remain available past the deadline for this stupid zero emmissions madness.Do any of your viewers cvar if they may be forced to stop long distant travel in their real car as opposed to a EV tonka toy car good only for shopping .dONT BELIEVE RENT ONE AND SEE FIRST HAND HOW YOUR 2 WEEK VACATION becomes a one week vacation the other week WAITING FOR THE DAM TOY CAR TO RECHARGE.HOLIDAYS NO SHOW BUSINESS TRIP INTERSTATE IMPOSSIBLE WITH A ev.
it is madness i could live with a cheap EV daily but ill always have a petrol performance car
Sounds like a sick vacuum cleaner, delete the pops crackles burbles all you want to hear is the turbo noise!!!
it needs a better sound.. i appreciate them trying but yeh.. bit to weak for a N car
The fact that it can be adjusted in 3 steps is a bonus 3 hours on the highway will soon be a pain if the exhaust is loud enough.
Go quit yo day job
?😅
Jealous?
Sounds so shit. Sounds like a fart lol. Nice looking hatch though
Ahah ya it’s no I30N for sound but it’s good fun to push hard like a Honda
@@RossReviewsau it needs resonator and muffler delete. Look at the fist video on my channel
