Felix Renggli Masterclass - Flute - Borne: Carmen Fantasy

Masterclass with Professor Felix Renggli in which the work on Borne's Fantaisie brillante on Carmen by Bizet for flute and piano. This masterclass took place in Santander during the Encounter of Music and Academy 2011.

Abstract:
In this fragment of the masterclass, Renggli comments that the student should be in time with the piano and create more differences in dynamics, as the range of nuances should be wider. They also work on staccato in some passages and on one of the main themes, more cantabile like singing in the opera. The clarity and speed in fast ornaments is also necessary. Renggli also talks about control of the tempo, air speed and explains the way to create tension in the fermata.

Now this young man has an exquisite tone. Round. Full. Yes, he will learn and learn, but tone is something that emanates from a musician's heart. Outstanding musical coaching by Professor Renggli, especially with regard to using proper pacing to keep the musical story alive for the listeners. It's mostly about the listeners, and how they feel about the joy of technique and tone on the flute. So well done here by all.
