My love affair with the Banjo deepens. What a wonderful sound the Julia Belle presents---rich, full and deep. You Deering folks are amazing. Jens, I have appreciated all of your demos. You allow a true comparison of the instruments while bringing out the best qualities of each. Thank you!

And the genius of having Jens demo it.

Beautiful sounding banjo & wonderful tribute to John Hartford. Shortly after he passed away I watched Jens demo the first signature banjo in memory of John & was totally bowled over when my wife purchased one for my birthday. Soon after I became seriously ill and it’s been waiting patiently for me to return to better health. Today for the first time in a very long time picked up the banjo. Thanks to Deering, Jens and of course John Hartford RIP.

If I were to put those strings on my Goodtime 2, and tune down, would I be able to achieve such a mature, GORGEOUS sound?

Yep. No problem. We have a few customers that do that on Goodtimes.

This Banjo is tuned a Minor Third Below Open G so Open E like what Pete Seeger played

  • @Dr.HunterGreenwoodDCND

The Julia Belle banjo sounds beautiful!!! Since it is tuned to open E, will it still be able to be played like it was in open G tuning with the same chords for G tuning songs or will I have to use special altered chords to play the songs in open E? I am a novice player but am drawn to the beautiful deep rich sound of the Julia Belle banjo.

To play in G, you will need to adapt. The chord shapes will be the same, but in different positions. Or you could use a capo and you will get the best of both worlds. Check out our collection - www.deeringbanjos.com/pages/search-results-page?q=capo

What Jens plays starting at 4:23 -- what is this? Is this his own composition? As a classical pianist, this immediately calls to my heart. I wonder if Jens has tab for it somewhere, somehow -- otherwise, suppose I'll just have to transcribe it myself -- and then transpose it for my Sierra, which is in standard tuning.

Don't know what that song is but it certainly is gorgeous. If I'd have to guess I'd say it's one of his own tunes.

Just looked on the website. I'm looking for my life's banjo. The one I'll have for the next 30 or-so years and my children will remember as "the banjo Dad played when we were little." But... There's no option for left-handed arrangement. -_- of course. I'll keep looking.

It doesnt matter what the banjo is a professional will pull out the tone. Nothing special about the banjo. What you are seeing is good marketing.
