I was a barista off and on for 10 years. I thought I would be making drinks and chatting with customers all day. It turned out I was cleaning and restocking 80% of the time, and pulling shots about 15%
Surely your exaggerating. I’m a barista too and it’s definitely more than 15%…
How do you maintain or repair the machine. Do you give it tech icians to repair it or you just do it yourself.? Thanks
@@iamToole most business outsource it to technicians. if its a small business and the owner knows the machine in and out then he will do it perhaps. the barista is never expected to do this, although you pretty much do everything else lmao
Washing dishes 80 percent of work :d
your videos so far have the best explanation and immersion of what a "day in a life as a barista" actually is --- including cashiering, stocking, prepping, and everthing else NOT brewing related. Most videos just focus on grinding, brewing, latte art, etc. What they don't know is that's just around 20% of being a barista lol
this made me not want to be a Starbucks barista anymore and apply to a different coffee shop. I loved this video!
Defo good decision
i'm in the exact same position, i work at starbucks but working at an actual coffee shop seems sooo much nicer
The part where you mentioned leaving your past café job on a bad note due to mistreatment really struck close to home for me, it's hard trying to stay in the barista career in one town when a bigger known café messes with you and you have to find somewhere else, I'm glad you found somewhere you're happier and more comfortable, I'm hoping i can do the same!
happy you're back with the barista vlogs!! always satisfying to watch them
I loved this vlog! It gives a cozy/sentimental vibe. Also, love your hair!
赏心悦目的拉花和vlog!加油,祝你一切顺利
太太太喜欢barista系列了!!
This is such a lovely video. I really like the chit chatting bits, they're so cool! Your boss seems so open and nice :)
This is really relaxing to watch & its nice to see how mindful you are at work :)
absolutely loved this vlog so much!!
your channel is wonderful, love your videos so much! I am a beginning barista and I often struggle with steaming milk properly. Sometimes I steam it to perfection and get amazing patterns, but often, something goes wrong (I am still waiting for proper training from the coffee shop I work at). I was wondering if you could some time film a small video about how you do latter art and especially about your milk steaming technique
Why was that satisfying and enjoying to watch aha that was fantastic!
Watched your solo small shop video and was intrigued @ the intimacy of the place. Caravan’s intimate in a totally different way. The effort you put into your latte art has paid off…truly amazing stuff! Really great talent and commitment you have to the art of serving. Thanks also for sharing the math (even tho you’re not a #’s person :)).
I luv your vlogs, keep it up, super proud of you as a londoner
I just discovered your video today and has been watching some of your videos and holy- Nasty Jug!!! I gotta leave a comment haha. Absolutely love your vlogs of your shifts. Hope you'll do them more!
Just spent an hour watching someone make coffee... And enjoyed it.
your latte art is mind-blowing
Hey, just discovered this video, you did a great job! My mum recently quit her job and started working as a barista/writer, so I started learning about it too, thinking about applying for a summer job this year, so yeah, thank you for this video, very detailed and interesting:)
Very well framed. Thank you.
I just discovered your channel yesterday and I'm so thankful for your cafe vlogs! It has something meditative about it and your diligence and structured work inspire me.
Sameee. Something so calming about it.
Thanks your update a wonderful video ❤️❤️
That's So Satisfying Love ur Video 💯💯💯❤️
The bunny art is SO CUTE
these are always my favorite!!!
Skilled at your craft, you're such a good Barista!
Hey 👋 I've watched your videos for a while and I remember you practicing your latte art in your vlog at your old workplace to now...the progress is amazing! You make it look so easy!
Thanks! I actually had to work a good 2-3 months at my new workplace before regaining my muscle memory after quitting for a year, I was quite bummed during that period until something kinda clicked and then I realized my latte art improved so much than before.
I was impressed with your coffee. It's nice to see a video of a great barista ㅎㅎㅎ
loved it!
That's was weird, I was sitting thinking .. who is that coffee guy .. and it pops on the screen... Great video... Incredible how hard baristas work, and the knowledge you have.
Love you hard work and dedication, please let me know what do I have to do to work as a barista! I'm interested in working!
Applied as barista! Can't wait to start my job 😁
Awesome thanks for sharing 💪🏻❤️
love your video so muchi!! your editing style feels so comfortable:)
thank you💕
@@jessiegao_ hello can is have some questions about baristas
Loved all the camera angles and first person views. Very abstract...😅
I would say just cut out the shots where internet people just wanting to find somewhere to argue about how you do your coffee, etc. Shame they can't just enjoy watching your videos and say nice things about what has happened in the video.
Have a good day Jessie! You got supporters here who love what you do and watch your videos!
I actually wore my regular nike shoes to work and after a month I realized my feet were so sore and my husband had been rubbing it everyday just to make it feel better. I don’t know what shoes I got but they are soft and I don’t even realize they’re on most of the time. The problem is that it’s like a soft fabric kind of thing at the top and it gets caught on .. everything lol.
Space hippies, I think that’s what they’re called. Recyclable/trash shoes haha but comfy af!
Yeah. Loved the vlog by the way lol
Love watching this video. I really enjoyed checking out your content.
I am making 3 videos a week documenting my training for an Ultra-Marathon I'm doing in September. Seeing content like this is really good motivation for me to keep making content.
Keep the videos coming. I can't wait to see the next video!!!
Thanks so much! I hope everything goes well with your Marathon and your documentation. Don't be too bumbed about the numbers, I started 3 years ago and was only picked by the algorithm around a year ago. Good luck with everything! 💕
Luv it
maybe the steam wand hasnt been cleaned or checked by a coffee machine tech. it could be the pressure level it is on, probably too low
I envy you your work place everything
My dream is to be great barista and this vidio is full of all activity... love it 🥰
Thank you ❤️ so much, I love it's this video, except Me , I'm a person who is love coffee very day , so I watched she make art coffee I really love it's
I’ve watched your video so cool
饿,哈哈 Missed your shift vlogs! Thanks for uploading :))
Wow the 40 minute journey is commitment!
hey! loved this vid- I was wondering where u got your silver necklace from? it looks really nice
I have the SAME ALARM!! ugh I feel like it's 5.30am lol
Ohh this why I see one of my coffee shops. Doing split shots all the time
Hi can you please tell how you shoot your video for the vlog in the cafe ❤.. I am also a barista and i really enjoy watching your vlogs…. Thanks for sharing your journey as barista ❤
Ur buddy is so cute 😁
饿... lolx i love this
Your alarm tone scared me, i have the same one
that green milk jug is very beautiful, do you know what is that coming from?
Hi, I love coffee and I am planning on going to London. Were is this coffee bar in London?
Jessie which milk pitcher you used?
When people ask for it to be hotter, doesn’t the milk taste off after a certain point?
I really liked
Yeah Jessie I don't get Apple either!
Amazing video!! (once again) 🙌 🙌 Thank you for sharing this content, really great to see how is it like to work as a barista. 🤩
Any recommendation for new starters? I'm currently practicing at home, trying keep up with my home equipment.
Also very much thank you for serving take away customers like have-in ones!
Glad you enjoyed it! If you mean new starters for home brewers: I started from visiting different cafes and buying beans from different roasteries. Find what flavor profile/roast you like, and try to disregard the thought of "if it's a specialty cafe it's going to be good". Specialty cafes have good and bad days. The key thinking is trust your tasting palette. You might not like a champion coffee and that's totally fine. Coffee tasting is pretty subjective. If you want to pursue something more professional, then I'd suggest read books or watch videos about the chemical/technical side of coffee. It's necessary to understand what's actually going on when you brew/pour. But at the end, everyone has different style when it comes to making coffee, so just try to have fun with it! ;)
@@jessiegao_ Thank you so much for the recommendations! I'll keep that in mind - keep trust in your tasting palette! There have been coffee beans I literally struggled to extract properly and never got any good taste out of them. Do you think that working as a barista would help me grow? I even got a SCA license for Barista Foundation. I'd be keen to have a shift every other week, don't know how easy that would considering no prior professional experience.
@@KonstantinosLeimonis I don't think I should be giving life advice as it's completely subjective, but if you are looking for some sort of guidance here is my answer: I don't think it's necessary to be a barista to learn about coffee. Not to put you down, but the people who I worked with (who wanted to try to work as a barista but had no intention to make it their primary or secondary career) usually quit within the week.
I don't think you can learn much by just having a shift every other week unless you have an extremely friendly mentor/owner who is willing to mentor you every shift. Working in coffee is mentally and physically stressful, and it would, to some extent, drain your passion from your hobby.
Like I said in the vid, we've got people who worked for 5+ years and can't even do the basics. Then there're people who learn extremely fast and are in the top 5% of the industry within the first few years. Maybe you'll learn a lot as a part-timer who knows, I can't really say for sure.
@@jessiegao_ My first thought on this was that being around people that know more things about coffee would also help me gain more knowledge, things that I might be missing. But I definitely get your point, working as a barista doesn’t necessarily mean that you actually learn for many reasons. Thank you very much for sharing your opinion on this! I really appreciate it!! 🙌🙌
好喜欢你的卫衣啊哈哈哈哈
25:42 how do we assess good attitudes at an interview stage?
my fight or flight was triggered by the phone alarm as I have that one haha
Wow, rest closes in 4:30 pm, in UA we start work in coffee shop in 8:00 am and close at 9 pm - 13 hours :D ( come in 7:30 am, go home at 9:10 - 9:30 pm )
Sometimes we work half work day with another baristas in our team, on weekend we have two baristas full day and one barista half day cuz people love rush)
Thank for video, when I don’t have work I watching how another pro barista work 😂
Tell pls how many $ u have in one hour work ?
20:48 i mean is fine for me if your basket is proporcionate for the dosage (what i mean is having a 20 - 25gr basket)
Our basket is probably 20g, but we're overdosing by 2-3g, which means the surface of the coffee (before tamping) isn't flat, so it probably doesn't have the evenest extraction. but since the grind size is coarser, it does make some leeway for that
@@jessiegao_ idk where i learned, but someone told me if the screw of the shower is marked in the dry dose is bad... by overheating the coffee with the metal. but dont get me wrong i would love to do that in rush hour looks so convinient... To bad people here in Madrid like having a single shot (half of the common 36 out dose)
btw love your outfit for work and the video is really good
@@eduardosalas2346 1. overdosing doesn't mean the coffee bed will touch the screen 2. the tamping presses deep enough for the coffee bed to not touch the screen 3. this Faema model doesn't have a screw to lock the screens in the group head

Just got my first barista job and I am struggling to find proper shoes for that... are Vans really good?)) Converses are just killing my feet((((
The heels need sometime to break in, but the soles are thick and flat so they are pretty comfy. The suede ones are pretty thick so they dont get wet if something's spilled or when it's raining.
Hello. Do you have any job vacancies available? I currently work as a barista at Starbucks and I was wondering if I need to be proper in this role?
Regards
Jawaad Ahmed
what pants are you wearing I love them.
Wow the alarm scared me 🗿🗿🗿

hi jessie. how much a cup of hot latte in London?
around £3-4
Around £3. Depends if you want alternative milk (+ £0.3~£0.5) and guest beans (+ £0.5~£1).
I like how she has no interest in what her co worker had to say in meta verse, yet when she is speaking about her experience with a art student, he shows the upmost interest Haha
🤣 I just don't visually show interest in many things
@@jessiegao_ Lol i know! You're such a character i love it !

SO YOU EDITED OUT YOUR HYGIENE!

Shut the f- up Denise 😂 get a hobby x
fucking same bro! I work at a fast food Chick-Fil-A area in an office area/district, and on the weekend its gets super busy, and its same as you, its not a very touristy place, but yet its still gets busy. doesn't make sense to me, but hey.
““For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. Got rdy in 20mins WTH!
all the wasted milk 🫣😱
Maybe that artist guy was trying to get into a "Mind-body problem" discussion.
yes potentially, but he never mentioned about conciousness or any medical terminology lol. It's pretty important to use the right words/termonology in art to explain your concepts well. I actually watched a video a few days ago about the mind and body problem and it explained everything very well with medical case studies to back what he was saying, and whether it is true is still debatable. While the artist guy is just speaking whatever he believes, which is fine, but when I asked if he could his statement up with any case studies (cuz I have never heard of the mind-body problem), he couldn't , it's pretty obvious that it was something he came up and not the actually the mind-body problem debate 🤷🏻♀️
@@jessiegao_ he wanted sound smart. He big dummy huehue
Yojana has pretty jaw line, she looks great.
Whats the point of working two shifts a month? You walk away with what 300$ ?
Yes, exactly that, plus I get to keep my job once I'm done with school 😊
@@jessiegao_ Haha good stuff i like your vids
怎么不说中文了?想听你说中文录视频哈哈哈哈😄
Aaa
being a barista looks so time consuming😟
Why do you speak American in London?
Because I'm not British I guess
You have a job, in London? Tell me your secrets.
You 100% want footwear with better ankle support if you're on your feet all day!
this video is pointless and 0:16
why so unmotivated always ? nothing else matters, you need smiles
I have a resting bitch face, get over it bro. No ones obligated to serve you with a smile and a smile doesn't mean good service. Why don't you be more positive for a change than saying I'm unmotivated?
@@jessiegao_ i could never understand why people think not having a smile means unmotivated. ive had bosses and managers try to let me go because i wasnt fake with my face and put a mask on, i wasnt rude im always friendly!
