I just loved #5 - What a sweetie and a great sense of humor too! That is the niftiest gadget that allows you to target more. This is fun!! Sometimes I wonder if you're finding stuff that could SOLVE A MURDER CASE!!
Thanks Suz! Yes you would be surprised to learn that many homeowners say things like that. Like, they make deals with you- like if you find jewelry they would like it but for example, we can keep coins or the rest or a 50/50 split. If we don’t like the deal like they want to keep all then we usually politely decline the permission and move on. Always good if they say something up front even if joking. Not many people that do this hobby want all their finds taken from them at the end. Almost all let you keep all of what you find but many appreciate if you offer them some things. Some will ask for a specific item like one time I had an lady want a shoe horn. We always knock on the door when we are done and present them with a few things and talk about what we’ve found. They may ask you to find an item that they lost- earrings are popular requests. Also, many metal detecting club members have been asked by police to assist on sites where crimes have occurred. There have been those occasions for my club in Austin to assist police. Thanks for this interesting comment Suz! Enjoy your day!~ Char
Haha! Thanks Dan! It can have it’s moments. Some people say yes then change their mind and some cannot say no and they say yes then say they changed their mind before you can get started or before you finish. Sometimes people can be rude when they answer the door or ask you to leave but you have to just say “thanks anyways” and “have a nice day” and depart quickly and go elsewhere. I have kids so have limited time to detect so like move along to the next house quickly. You can worry about it later or not lol! Sometimes you do everything right and it doesn’t work out and sometimes you can improve your presentation. People are people. Most people in any given detecting day usually say yes when asked by us if we can detect and sometimes we get asked back or they have a friend with a property or a neighbor approaches and lets us do their yard as well. It pays to chat! Have a good day Dan!~ Char😊
Thanks! Found one that was a concho and the other I thought maybe some kind of reflectors but maybe button bc of orate design around the base! Not a hundred percent sure.
I truly appreciate you calling out the signal number. It's nice to be able to compare and learn what's triggering the various Equinox 800 reading. Well done!
@@lcheerezexplorer thanks! I’m at the tail end of a cold so feeling not too bad today! Just waiting for this summer heat to break here so I can get out more. Another month or two to go!
Well rounded video and great presentation!!! Door knocking all the way to detecting. Congratulations on the ring. The token and Jack was definitely interesting. Keep up the awesome job Char 👍👍👍
Lol! Hi David! I’m not really sure what she was thinking but felt like when we talked to her that she wasn’t really quite getting it and she wanted to say no but was that type of person that has a hard time being direct and just saying no which would’ve been better lol! It didn’t really come as a surprise. Every event brings you to the next right! And the next worked out for us! Always better to be detecting where you feel truly welcome by the property owner that’s for sure!
Awe thanks! I really have my detecting partners to thank for getting me into door knocking. It can be hard in my area to onto the older stuff in public places so it is always fun to do a day of permissions. Have a great day!~ Char😊
Almost all we do is door knocking and get the same results, can't never u8nderstrand why people say yes and then say to leave, oh well. But the yes's make it all worth it. Nice ring
Yes it is! My detecting partner, David identified it for me after the hunt! It would’ve definitely been an odd button. And I think you are right, it appears to be copper and had some type of sparkly ‘wash’ finish on it maybe silver! Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comment!~ Char😊
Thanks Gary! A bit on the slowdown right now with the heat here lately but as soon as it cools down I’ll be in full swing! Good luck on your hunts!~ Char😊
Door knocking gives me anxiety esp. in today’s world. People are so apprehensive to even talk to others let alone let them dig up their lawn. I have yet to do it. Eventually I will though lol 🤞It’s much easier to ask permission from giant land owners/farmers because they usually don’t care.
It gives me anxiety as well some days but others not so much. But when people say yes it is usually fun unless they retract the permission as you are getting started which does happen. I have not gotten many larger farm or land owner permissions. One guy said it was a liability if I got injured and didn’t want to sign forms with me. My husband said if someone asked him to dig in his lawn he would say no way!! Lol! The yeses I get I am appreciative of and many times the homeowners are curious as well about what’s there in the ground and other times they just say have fun and you never see them again unless you knock on the door to show them something. Some people follow you around and want to see everything you dig though.
Thanks Dustin! Tokens are always fun to find. The ring is the most beautiful ring I’ve found so far! I love it! Been wearing it ever since I found it. Take care!~ Char😊
Great dirt fish Char, that 1800's token was wicked awesome, and of course the Mercury Dimes are so sweet. Love Silver Coins, and I get excited with everyone I find.
Thanks George! Silver is always a fun rush to find and tokens are great too as I really like looking up the info on them. My favorite tokens to find are saloon tokens.😊
Not sure how I missed this video! Excellent! When I spoke to you last about the editing you told me you used iMovie. You helped me with a technical issue. I am still using iMovie. I really like the way you have your videos attitude and how you present your items. I find with doorknocking, I prefer to bring a friend. Usually he or she will start with the talking and then I can talk. Best permissions are the ones that find me when I’m doing sidewalks or curb strips. They were already interested and they started the conversation so I don’t mind asking. I absolutely love your ring! Tokens pretty cool too. And of course the Mercs! Have a great holiday Char!!
Thanks so much Donna! Sounds like we are similar. If you are friendly and talk to everyone that walks by while detecting in neighborhoods then many times you walk down the street to their house to detect next! So many nice people out there. I do door knock with friends as it feels like a safer way to do that. You enjoy your holidays as well! 😊🎄🎁👍
Good catch Clinton! I didn’t see a VDB with my magnifier but that penny is very worn. I actually had a separate pic of the reverse of that penny but of course forgot to include it! Thanks so much!~ Char😊
Hi William!🙋♀️When I first started detecting I watched a video where a guy did this same thing and it helped me to see that there was no big secret to it you just knock and ask! Have a great day!~ Char😊
Thanks Dave! I test silver pretty often but I threw 2 kits out in a row because they were leaking in the bag upon arrival and got a replacement for the first one from Amazon. I then got another from a different seller recently that seems to be okay so far.
Good job on the finds and thank you for sharing this video. I'm impressed on how you cleaned your finds especially the coins/tokens. Any tip on how you cleaned the coins/tokens?😉
Thank you. Cleaning coins is always and interesting subject. I sometimes use the Andre pencil and brush kit and sometimes use vinegar soaks and an old toothbrush. Of course just be careful to not over clean rare finds. And some people would like to leave the tarnish on silver coins but some people use a little paste of baking soda and water to shine them up removing less tarnish is more in my opinion. I know some people get upset to see coins cleaned but they belong to you if you find them so your decision. The Andres brush can work well with tokens but the brushes don’t last very long. I used to use extra fine steel wool before I found those.
Nice! 💕👵
Thanks! 😊
nice to share how to find Treasure and many other things
Thank you Kathy!😊
congrats on the gold ! Love that Grocer Token too👍🤠⛏🍻

It happens. 😳
The big round thing with the two openings is a Concho. A belt decoration, sometimes silver plated.

does that 1909 penny have a mint mark?
