This is how my days start...I stumble out of bed and turn on the coffee while perusing my emails. When I see you've got a new video, I get all goofy with anticipation..."What is Nik going to do now?" Then I settle myself down, coffee in hand, and watch you make something so lovely, it makes the rest of my day happier. Thank you!
Wow. I've seen tutorials for single accordion pockets, but I've never seen multiples stacked together. I kept scratching my head during the build..."How does this all fit together?" So damned cool.😎👍🏻
OMGoodness, I keep thinking it would be impossible for this lap book to get any better... WRONG AGAIN!! You are an amazing artist Nik. What an elegant project! Thank you dear for sharing! I'm sitting on pins & needles waiting for the next installment. 💎👏Bravo👏💎 Wuvs ya tons!!! ❤xo💜xo💙xo💛xo💖xo💚 Wuvs ya tons!!! ❤xo💜xo💙xo💛xo💖xo💚
This project is teaching me so very much, and I really can’t say enough thanks for making all these videos-you have to be putting a ton of time and effort into all that goes along with the filming, editing, etc, etc!! 😘
OK ... I'm just going to say it ... You're A Genius!!! There - I hope you're not "offended". 😂 When, whoever it was, asked if you knew how to do a Lapbook, I seriously don't think they had any idea that you were going to come up with such an AMAZING Lapbook. I don't even WANT one but now I'm thinking - I've got to try to build one of these suckers! They look so fun! But I have to show my ignorance here - I don't even know what I'd DO with a Lapbook. Maybe that will be "revealed" in the last segment of this amazing saga of Lapbook Construction. Thanks, again, Nik for thinking through such an amazing addition and sharing it with the rest of us! You are appreciated!! 💜
I love this Nik! I'm one of your "silent" fans. I very rarely comment on things, but this series has been awesome. I love your creative ideas, and the precision you use to put them together. Your color palette is gorgeous. Because I watch so many of your videos, I bought a used "Complete Stories and Poems of Edgar Allen Poe" and am reading through it. I read The Telltale Heart last night and thought of that beautiful book you made. Anyway, stunning work, as always. Thank you for sharing all of your processes and tips! 😘
I am always amazed that you come up with something new to add! Makes me realize how the creative part of my brain is stuck in neutral, but watching your vids gives it a little kick start. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful ideas and your creative brain...lol
Man, I love these videos! You speak my language, too, so it's like being with a really close friend, doing the project together! When you're thinking about what you want next, I'm thinking right along with you! And love it when you concur with my assessment, lolz! But you mostly surprise me with techniques I'd never thought about! Thank you for doing these videos! You're a wonderful teacher and it comes through on the videos.
Never would I have expected the anticipation I experienced for this instalment to out do the cultural phenomenon of waiting for the final series of Game of Thrones!😆😆 I have been eagerly checking my iPad all weekend and yesterday...of course forgiving you for having a weekend off, and a life (😘) but none the less ABSOLUTELY. THRILLED. IT.IS. HERE! Now to view and make along with you. I even made a mini version in a much smaller old book to ‘kill time’ while I waited! 😆😆🥰. Thanks Superstar! 🤩🤩
Back again! Oh my goodness! Brilliant! So happy with my lapbook...now to decorate... PS envelope behind the slide ins reminds me of welt pockets in jackets. Neat easy solution to the ‘oops, shouldn’t have popped a small tag in the top pocket’ dilemma 😆
This rocks. Looks like something out of a shop. Beautiful work, flawlessly executed. Made me drool, wanting to make one of my own. Can't wait for the continued 7. :-)
Wonderful Nik! I personally was hoping you were going to add a flap with a string closure to the accordion folder but that’s my anxiety of losing something speaking!
Having just assured someone things won’t fallout, Ive just made a flap that glues on the book above the accordion and fold over the opening... you could even glue it on before attaching the accordion. Depends on the secrets you keep in your journal !😉
I wish I didn't have a day job cuz I'd create journals and stuff every day, all day, just like NIK!! One thing to note that if you put that envelope pocket behind the slits, you'd see the white of the envelope so you'd have to 'grunge' it up a bit so the white wouldn't be showing through your slot! I like the way you did it with the scrapbook paper showing through. You could have left one of the edges open instead to catch anything that fell through.
This is such an awesome project and so addicting to watch, I have started collecting old books now, and once I have thing organized I am hoping to try this out, your tutorials are quite informative Thanks so much for sharing Hugs and Smiles
I just love this project! I can't wait to find the perfect books to make one. It's so hard waiting for the next video! Thanks so much for sharing. You are so creative!
Great 6th part Nik....love the way it turns....i didn' t used enveloppes as you showed but glued a paper on the back and put a straight stitching between the two pockets I made...so my cards or tags (or whatever i slide in) won't fall ....( so difficult to explain in English....lol) Thanks for sharing Nik....i am waiting for nice ideas of part 7...
I am new to your channel and I am really enjoying your process for this book!!! Thank you so much for sharing your process!!! So many ideas!!! Have a great week!! Always, Leslie
20:20 - When making it fold around the accordian pieces, maybe a score mark there would be helpful? Maybe extend the back a bit and add score mark to wrap easier?
2nd time round watching; still loving it; still gonna do something similar... just a 😔 thought.. why did you cover the beautiful Graphic 45 paper liner? Anyways... what’s done is done and those little placketed pockets are just so darling and I 💖 the way the fold out flips and flops. (A lady I follow on RUclips called Scrapqueen - she’s Dutch and real talented - calls them flipperty flops. She cracks me up). Enjoying this just as much 2nd time around. 🌹Rosie of Oz🇦🇺 & 🐶Omega the Cavalier🐶
I really love this series, Nik. I was thinking that I might add a flap on the accordian file, or a strap...or some kind of closure. Hmmmm, thinking with my brain here.
For the pocket and making a pocket out of an envelope, will this add bulk to the back of the paper? Would just adding a strip of paper going across the whole width of your paper at the top of your next slit but not covering the slit opening and gluing that across the back to act as a stop to prevent pieces falling down further. Would that also work?
When I was watching 6 I was thinking that you could make cute tags for journaling that had tabs the hooked to the slits. My children made book markers that hooked to mark their pages by having" gripper" hands that hung over the page of the book.
This is how my days start...I stumble out of bed and turn on the coffee while perusing my emails. When I see you've got a new video, I get all goofy with anticipation..."What is Nik going to do now?" Thank you!
Now I am mesmerized and speechless! 😲. “your the paper whisperer “👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
When I start watching each of these parts I wonder what magic are you going to do today? It's just so good Nik.
Wow.

“Am I going to wait? Probably not.” 😂😂😂😂😂 My son (he’s 7) thinks I’m crazy for laughing at “the book lady” on tv.

Fantastic ❤️
Great plan 👍👌
For the pocket and making a pocket out of an envelope, will this add bulk to the back of the paper? Would just adding a strip of paper going across the whole width of your paper at the top of your next slit but not covering the slit opening and gluing that across the back to act as a stop to prevent pieces falling down further. Would that also work?
Love it!
When I was watching 6 I was thinking that you could make cute tags for journaling that had tabs the hooked to the slits. My children made book markers that hooked to mark their pages by having" gripper" hands that hung over the page of the book.
