Have you ever tried to turn the focused switch on before tweaking your tone? Since the focused switch boost the low mid, I assume if you do that before tweaking tone, then when you turn off the focused switch it will sound more like single coil type of sound especially in position 2 & 4
I still don't really get the point of the focus switch and position 2 and 4 hahaha. Seems more like gimmicks when most would probably prefer a coil split.
I have a Guild Starfire with coil split, and it loses a lot of volume when split. I don't like it or use it at all, but I use the 2 and 4 position and focus switch, if for no other reason than it's a unique tone.
