    Lets be real, Drake makes rap music for teens and casual rap fans. Kendrick makes music with purpose and for the culture. Drake fans are so used to having lines spoonfed to them off of extremely catchy bars, that they legit lack the ability or want to dig deeper to peel back layers. The arrogance I have some from some ignorant ah people has been disheartening, but its reinforced what I already believed. Which is most Drake fans are simply that,, Drake fans. They don't care or have any sort of connection to hip hop and its culture. I feel like its the same fanbase Eminem has, though Em is for sure more respected as an MC and paying homage. But most Eminem fans don't listen to rap like that. They just like Em. And both of their fanbases will be overrepresented online. Kendrick represents the culture, Drake mimics the culture. Kendrick was raised in that culture. Drake is just cosplaying, and playing an acting role. At this point they are not even comparable.

    I’m gonna say it again like I said it in the last video. The line where Kendrick says “I make music that electrifies em, you make music that pacifies em” it can be taken as a shot towards Drake liking young girls, but I really believe a major underlying meaning of this line is that Kendrick music is a soundtrack for social justice for black culture. Drake’s music can be played for white people and not be controversial. Most Def did an interview categorizing Drake’s music as mall music.
    And yes I thought that other line references J Prince as well. That’s the difference between us breaking things down vs others. They’re aligning themselves with the culture and can miss things that reference the subculture of behind the scenes of rap.

    Fun fact: when Kendrick was calling Drake a degenerate there was a LOT more depth to it than just in the moral sense.
    In that verse he also references mathematical terms like angles, calculations and so on. I’m thinking he also is playing on the mathematical definition of degeneracy: the condition of objects which appear to be qualitatively different from (and usually simpler than) the rest of the class. So much so that it may be hard to identify it as such because it is so reduced.
    For example. With a 90 degree angle you’re gonna recognize it as an angle. But an angle with value zero is a degenerate angle. Because at that point it’s unrecognizable as an angle, it’s just a line.
    The whole song is about how Drake is such a degenerate class of rapper/lyricist, father, black person and man that you really can’t recognize him as these identities because he’s so oversimplified beyond recognition.

    also if that was a reference to adonis voice it could be playing into how he said drake dosent know anything about raising his son without the "right" priorities also referencing the fact that at this age drake has already started having adonis on songs at least thats my take

    Even the Teddy Pendergrass sample in the beginning was layered. Teddy P was in an accident and paralyzed resulting in him being in a wheelchair. It's so many layers.

    2:30 to 2:46 on the “6:16 in LA” record is where Kendrick referenced the whole “MOBTIES” ordeal indirectly however most reactions I’ve watched haven’t mentioned that as if it went over their heads. Truthfully though, Drake really affiliated with the Prince Family because J. Prince Jr. is the one whom discovered Drake before the fame! Drake’s still under the RapALot banner. All of his PLATINUM/GOLD PLAQUES are in The Rap-A-Lot Office. They have been getting their percentage and royalties from the beginning.

    Kendrick wasn’t speaking on Drake’s kid rather saying when they say Dot short for k Dot Kendrick’s rap name when he was on some gangster timing referring to his younger self and saying Drake knows nothing about him in real life 5:40

    At 6:11 I just remembered when Drake and Millie Bobby Brown were on the Internet because he gave her dating advice and now all the stuff with diddy and osirius like bro has been weird asf always bc why is a thirty year old man giving a 13 year old girl advice on dating and it’s not like he’s her father or anything like it’s weird

    The Wiz sample at the beginning of the song also was a play on Drake’s sexuality.
    Richard Pryor was allegedly bisexual.
    Further adding salt to wounds with the Sexxy Red bar later on the song.

    8:28 I agree with Dee, don’t think K. Dot was talking about Birdman at all. It was more of a J. Prince Jr. diss (His daddy was a real killer , and his son, who is Drake’s companion, isn’t about that life).

    1:45 The funny shit about that is, he stole that double entendre from MGK's diss at Eminem, Rap Devil. So not only does Drake got mad writers credits on Push Ups, but his ghost writers stealing lines from white rappers 😂😂

    Maybe I’m just catching this cause I was so caught up in all the other bars but when he said the Pharrell pushin p Pusha t line, he literally meant stop pushing p / Pharrell (aka skateboard p) what do you do on a skateboard? You push it . But also Pushin P sets up that that gunna line kdot raps afew lines later about snitching . “Fuck pushin p” is that also a gunna diss too 😭 I mean is he literally saying fck gunna ? this diss got too many layers to it

    • @OVOJermey
      @OVOJermey 6 месяцев назад +2

      I don’t think he’s saying fuck Gunna I think he’s just literally saying fuck pushing p, the only “diss” you can say about Gunna from Kdot is him saying “I got shit on people that’d make Gunna Wunna look like a saint” because of the snitching allegations.

    I think it’s interesting how ppl view songs like this. Bc there’s the perspective that it’s great bc there’s all these hidden references, but I think you could argue that if they’re hidden, what’s the point? Like you almost have to be a Drake stan just to know wtf he’s talking about. It gets very nerdy lol, but I can understand why ppl like it.

    • @OVOJermey
      @OVOJermey 6 месяцев назад +2

      These are near surface level, it just still goes over peoples head so they call it mid. Kendrick can go a lot deeper than this but he chose to be more surface level because he KNOWS who Drake’s fans are “You make music that pacify em” babies.

  • @SapphireTigress92
    @SapphireTigress92 6 месяцев назад

    That classics line is actually crazy. So allegedly on Drakes take care album half of those songs were originally made by the weekend when he was supposed to sign to Drake. So when Kendrick says "Let your core audience stomach that then tell them we're you got your ABS from". Abs being a shortened form of ALBUMS. He saying if we find out who really wrote most of his best work we might have to stomach the fact that Drake doesn't actually have classics made by him. He's alluding to more of his music being ghost writing than we would want to believe. And even my first listen when He said he don't have no classis I was like "He at least got 1 😂" and I was thinking of take care. So with people having reactions like that, if we found out this allegation was true, It would truly be hard to stomach not just as a Drake fan, but as anyone whose ever enjoyed his music.

    Like there are so many things about black culture that goes over everybody else's head e.g. the whole "I hate the way" rant is inspired by Bernie Mac in Don't be a Menace 😂 or the fact the beginning of the song is a sample from Teddy Pendergrass ❤ He's truly a man of the culture
