I have the original mini and I use it as my computer speakers. Perfect for that application. Loud, bassy and easily fits under my monitor. I've had it for like 5 years and still going strong. Good buy.
I would agree with you. Because, with other speakers like the sound link, revolve, if you want true stereo sound, you have to pair two of them together wirelessly. That’s a bit of an inconvenience. This is a complete stereo on the other hand.
Definitely hall of fame, I have the mini 2 and the mini 2se. However I also have the older sl3 which I built a large battery for, from 23wh to 39wh, it lasts forever and sounds fantastic, much bigger speaker though
Actually, it produced stereo sound. That's as a mistake which you should address. The bose speaker actually has two speakers inside and the bass radiator in the middle.
I own a soundlink III and love it still. 8 years later and stil is my favourite one (I bought some UE and Jbl as well). I’m looking for this one as a little brother. Love the size, format and sound signature of Bose
I have sl111, mini 2 and mini 2se. If your battery starts to die on your sl111 you can buy 3x 3400 mah Panasonic 18650 batteries, open the battery case and solder the larger ones in. Cost me $11 per battery, 3 in series so $33 and went from 23wh to 39wh, the thing lasts forever now. The red light flashes for over 3 hours now though as it is set to a voltage and having a larger capacity there is still plenty of energy at that same voltage as it could not be calibrated for the larger capacity
@@theotherhouse5910 Congrats! That’s a very good price. I also think it’s great at low levels. It sounds really full. I have yet to find a speaker that aounds better and feels as premium as this.

Even tho the Bose Flex I bought a month ago sounds way better and has more features I still often use the Mini 2 because of this great small form factor
@@BHUT-JOLOKIA this little unit thumps like crazy! But, where this thing shines for me though, is at night, in low light, at low volume, when our ears are super-receptive! Drum n bass and music with 'low ends' just sound humongous! You will enjoy this product. Also, it'll sound better on certain surfaces that resonate the frequencies. Mine is on top of my drumkit case at the other side of the room. It sounds nuts!
Have a first gen mini, just started using it as my nightstand go to sleep music. So much better than the radio. Use it with an I Pod Touch or I Phone, either way it's perfect.
Hi. Actually, even though you say, there is no ““ stereo separation, it is technically a stereo speaker. It’s just the left and right channels are of necessity close together. Also, I don’t notice any issues with the base response that you pointed out. I think they might’ve installed a firmware update since you reviewed this. Because mine doesn’t have those issues you described, and a lot of things could determine that like what kind of music you were listening to with the time. But I think most of what you said is true. I’m not looking for a lot of smart features and a portable Bluetooth speaker. I just want versatility, good quality sound, and above all else, excellent, build quality, and I think this fits the bill, even over the sound link, micro that I have. The bottom silicone rubber came off of those, and it’s inconvenient to have to pair two of those together. But I like this because I can have stereo sound in one portable unit.
@@chucklemub no. There is no need to run a splitter. But it is a true stereo by default. It’s just that the speakers are so close together that you don’t realize it.
According to what I have read, both should have the same size battery. But 1 uses a battery plug which makes battery replacement much easier, while 2 is soldered on. The only things that make the battery last longer on the bose soundLink 2 are that you have less bass and that the bass turns down faster when you turn the volume up and that you can no longer play as loud. you get a speaker with a poorer sound with less bass and a weaker amplifier only to play approx. 3 hours longer. bose SoundLink 2 has too little bass and too much treble. It has (loadnes) that make the bass turn down when you get closer to 50% volume
I remember I won a Google home mini at work and gave it away because it wouldn't let me use it without linking an account for google home. Recently found a used mini ii for $5 thrifting, and as soon as I charged it up, it worked flawlessly an immediately. The freedom to use a device without personal information being needed is so great. Great find.
This was a really good review - concise and answered a lot of questions. I also like the narrative's measured tone and the product shots were good looking but also informative - the only thing that was missing was a banana for scale :)
I got mine luxe silver on Amazon. If anything, I think it sounds even better than the original, which I had before I gave it to my church elders wife. But it’s also worth noting that your assessment of stereo separation isn’t entirely accurate. It actually does have left and right stereo. It’s just that you have to hold the speaker close to you to notice it. But it is there. As for Bluetooth fuzz, I really don’t notice anything. They must’ve released a software update to fix that. But other than that, I’d say that you’re absolutely right on most counts. However, if you want, smart features, one could always connect an Amazon echo input.

Still worth buying now in 2023, with a excellent sound quality and with a outstanding build quality. And I would 100% buy another one.
All modern speakers feel plastic and cheap, this Bose sound link mini really feels premium: Quality and sound.
