I actually really like the concept of one of the next secret bosses starting off as a genuine friend to the Fun Gang, as opposed to just another unnerving character spouting cryptic dialogue. It would also make their boss fight a lot more interesting if you ask me.
I feel like with how incredibly interesting the idea is, the execution would have to be perfect for it to work. Since a secret boss needs to be hard to get to. And tethering them to your party makes that a bit harder to pull off.

I'm surprised how little people talk about Shadrow basically predicting there'll be a second Gaster, "another him", in Deltarune by saying he split himself in two lol. Also holy crap a Sock Puppet transforming to be like Gaster's holed hand is freaky af I love it.
I always imagined "Split the world in two" referred to creating Deltarune's world. But yeah. "Feeling Frozen to the bone, we must go back through your tombstone" also feels extremely close to "Snowgrave" for it to not be some divine premonition
I really love the idea of a sock puppet boss, especially with the connection between sock puppets needing to be controlled by hands and Gaster’s whole thing. Plus it plays into the puppet theme: A sock puppet, Spamton is a ventriloquist puppet, and Jevil… a marionette?
Isn't Jevil just the joker card? I'm pretty sure that at some point you get a deck of cards or something, the check description says the joker and another card are missing
This is quite literally a PERFECT fan-made boss, to the point I wouldn't be surprised if this character is all but perfectly mirrored by one in chapters 3-5. Firstly, Sans' sock is SUCH a good idea for a secret boss, and would be wild foreshadowing, especially following Papyrus Knight theory. Secondly, the idea of a secret boss being a party member before being corrupted by the very thing you helped them achieve, giving them a personal connection to YOU that makes their unwilling betrayal all the more tragic than just some funky trash dude you turned into a CD and fed into a robot body. Finally, the theme of a sock PUPPET is perfect for a secret boss, with all of the bosses being based on toys so far (A joker card and a marionette), and it really ties into the innocent surface of a character like this. Also based song choice
You're only forgetting one fact, the previous bosses had themed arenas, Jevil had a carousel and Spamton had a roller coaster, and it looks like the hill/mountain Sockswald needed to get to on the OTHER Sockswald video (INTERSTELLAR ASCENSION) kinda looked like a helter skelter due to it's spiraled design, so I'm picking up an amusement park theme with these battle arenas.
Okay, I love this idea from this one video. The idea of this character is really clever. Plus, judging by the animation, THE BLUE SOUL WOULD COME BACK! PERFECT! I really like this idea now, even if it's shown through a small animation. 10/10 idea, keep up the work. :)

I think the bit at the beginning is meant to be that after he got access to the shadow crystal, he became aware of how he would be perceived, being laughed at by players, or the audience, and so them trying to reach out to said audience is them trying to convince the audience that they're someone who should be taken seriously, and as such, them turning from a sock puppet into some cosmic hand thing is them trying to be more serious, as they try to shed the aspects that they think made them into a joke in the eyes of the audience.
I think the shot with the sad socks imply that Sockswald was an NPC, and that the shadow crystal made them want to break out of that role. You might be onto something here
I absolutely adore Sockswald!!! :3 I like the idea of them being friendly with the entire fun gang at first, being the natural progression from Jevil being completely isolated, then Spamton trying to be friendly with just Kris. Also have you considered what sans' pet rock would be like as a darkner??

I’m rewatching þis and in þe meantime I’ve heard a theory about þat Spamton’s Neo Form was Δ-Mettaton’s design for a Neo form like what’s seen in Undertale, and þat boþ of þem turn þe soul yellow… (Þe video continues wiþ a prediction þat every future secret boss will have a connection to an Undertale boss who turns þe Soul into þe same colour as þe secret boss {and þat why jevil doesn’t have a connection is because he doesn’t change þe soul colour}) Wiþ þat being said, Sockswald, who I’m pretty sure is Sans’s sock has an in-ate connection to him, turns þe Soul blue, so does sans (and his skelebro)
The idea of one of the shadow crystal holders being a party member for a good duration BEFORE they end up as a boss is such a cool idea and i hope Toby ends up going for it with one of them, it'd be neat!! aside from that, i adore sockwalds design and character!!! they're a loveable little fellow. :)
What I understod is; Sockswald is a thrown out sock and somehow got to the darkworld, maybe under the bed? And I guess he somehow or someone found(/gave him) a shadow crystal, led to his insanity, but he seems like his in development of his insanity, and we can easily reqruit him into our team without a fight, and when that time comes he goes insane and evolves from a "split in half" sock to a cosmic hand, like under a sock puppet, and his fight has the blue soul, and thats all that I got.

The animatic begins as shades of orange for Sockswald's backstory / when they're apart of The Fun Gang, then it turns shades of blue during the fight with Sockswald as a secret boss, and finally becomes monotone once they die(?). So smart, I love it so much

You know, thinking about it, Susie obviously would have issues with being betrayed by a close friend- like in Lancer's battle- it's been integral to people theorizing how she'd react if she figure out what happened in Snowgrave/other weird route stuff. So now this has got me thinking of what if that happens with a secret boss, like Sockswald, how pissed off would she be when the fight starts?
You know, I saw one comment on Sockswald's theme associating Handromeda with The Spot from ATSV... and I can see the parallel. Considering their ties to Sans, the meta-associated character, maybe when Sockswald (a normal "sock person" apparently) found their Shadow Crystal it made them aware that they were a "secret boss," and that they'd be a character players/fans would latch onto. However, they were aware that people would love them not because their fight was hard, not because their character was interesting or deep... but just because they were silly. Sockswald came to internally hate this knowledge, and eventually their "inner darkness" and suppressed cynicism became Handromeda - a gigantic, overpowered eldritch horror who the player will RESPECT. So Handromeda is everything Sockswald is not, and yet everything they secretly wish to be. Wish upon a star to be, mayhaps.
This is aaaammaaazinggg!!! I'd love to see more about your OC!! Seems like they could have such a cool story arc with the gang! This animation/animatic is so good. =D
Sockswald is actually the best secret boss idea for Sans and Papyrus's house I've seen so far. It fits all the themes so well. Shadow puppets (emphasis on puppets) are toys, usually thrown away when their owners grow up. They could have a strong connection to whoever played with them, making their separation all the more tragic (and even better). Abandoned like Jevil and Spamton. Sans neglects to pick up his sock. This ties into the theme of secret boss items that are unwanted or discarded. Edit: And the design is just fantastic. The gaster blaster callback is great!

But what the LIGHTNERS didn't know, Is that through the time the sock got a mysterious POWER. They use their MAGIC to split the ENVIROMENT, making YOUR friends get hurt. YOU use the INTEGRITY, to do what you do to the rest of PUPPETS, cut their strings and make them ring. So then, with their last breath, the sock attacked you and with that. Sockswald could finally rest.

Another cool detail is the eye on the giant form of sockswald makes him look like gaster’s hand
Even the line "the ceiling stars I wish upon" fit the context of the scene since glow in the dark sticker stars are in Kris and Asriel's room.
