    I was one of the people who requested this song, because there is a lot more to NOFX than their goofy side. They've had a super long career, and have grown and changed right alongside their fans. Very punk rock to be able to show such vulnerability. I respect Mike so much for the vulnerability he has shown over the past decade or two. There's a lot more to this man than you've seen so far.

    The stuff Fat Mike did as Cokie the Clown is just a giant therapy session. The song That Time I Killed My Mom will make you want to slit your wrists. He has some deep, dark issues, but it's great that he can express what he's feeling through his music.

    This entire album is an absolute gem, but this is easily up there as one of my favorite NOFX tracks of all time. Mike brought the realness, with a sincere vulnerability most artists could only hope to achieve. Not a single word wasted. It's a perfect song.

    Great video guys. Fat Mike goes in to more detail about his childhood as Cokie The Clown with the song Punk Rock Saved My Life, maybe check that out. Not so much a kick ass song, but the lyrics... In fact, the whole album "You're Welcome" he did is just a massive, beautiful bum out album.

    If you liked this one and you want to ear Mike Burkett pouring his heart out and being as honest as always I strongly suggest you listen to < The big drag, I love you more than I hate me, Doors and fours and Last resort > these are all from the album released in 2021 ''Single Album''. Nofx as been my favorite band since 1994, I've heard everything they've done and I have to say this album is by far the most powerful punkrock album ever released. The ''I love you more than I hate me'' and ''Doors and Fours'' videoclips are totally insane. Left me absolutely speechless. The last one... Last Resort... is about his divorce... wow...he even got a masterpiece out of a F ing sad situation... Genius but concerning..

    NoFx can deliver the real from time to time. "All His Suits are Torn" or "The Irrationality of Rationality" are a couple other serious songs.

    Yeah, Nofx has some very sad songs that can easily make one cry, it's not always the usual snarkiness and sillyness. For example, every single time I hear the song She's Gone, I at least tear up. Check it out sometime if you're ready for some emotional damage :)

    • @justinman114
      @justinman114 2 года назад +3

      Yeah there are definitely some that can do that. They seem to tuck a lot of them at the end of the albums. Falling in Love, Drop the World, Whoops I OD'd, Doornails, I'm So Sorry Tony are all good examples too. That last one is actually a really tough one to listen to.

    Great song. Even crazier is Mike talks about how he actually suffocated his mother with a pillow when she was on her deathbed. You should try Pup "Sleep in the Heat" and react to the video. Another sad one in a different way. Great reaction as always, dudes.

    Giving how personal this song is I've always prefered the acustic version of fat Mike with his guitar. Hits stronger. Deeper.
    Maybe it doesn't make sense to make another reaction of the same song (eventhough it really feels like a different song), but just hear it for you.
    Believe me, once you hear the acoustic version you'll realize this was the way it should always been.

    This song is a fucking atom bomb of life and honesty. It's an incredible song, one of my top 5 Nofx tunes. MIkes lyrics stand head and shoulders above any band from his generation. Sure you can go through lyrics sheets of all the other bands but the fact is most of those lyrics hold zero weight because they are sung with poor enunciation. Most of the time just muffled melodies. Mike vocals are always clear, strong and powerful.

    A recent song they released titled "the big drag" has similar quality and depth. They're both tough for me to listen to, honestly. (ruclips.net/video/TT_EtBM06-I/видео.html)

    Fat Mike has some deep hatred towards his father. On his new podcast titled Fat Mike's Fat Mic, he's mentioned to a couple guests how he's decided to legally change his last name. He's doesn't go too much into it. But if you listen how he talks about it, he tries to be his funny self, but you can tell there's some despair in how he says it.
    As someone who doesn't have a great relationship with their father, I identify with how he feels, try not to make a big deal about it, but it still strikes a nerve.

    Guys, if that one hit you search for "Fat Mike - La Pieta (piano version)".. it's a song about the night his mother died. fucking tragedy. for a lot of those sad stories that mike has endured listen to the cokie the clown stuff... for painful honestly, not for good singing.. I can actually just listen to most songs once.. for both reasons.
