Jeff Banks has literally nailed my thoughts and the problems with ITV. Brilliantly put. I also would add that there are too many on screen presenters and also some of them are not good enough. It is subjective but I dont rate mulrennen, Nichols, persad, McCoy, Fitzgerald, culmani, bell, ....so actually quite a few! Walsh is brilliant, you could easily imagine him on c4 racing in the 00s. Why? Because he says exactly what he thinks concisely and without fear. Like Jeff said viewers aren't stupid, they recognise a phony, people buy into genuine enthusiasm and passion. Cut the team down and have passionate fearless characters.
On a separate note I much prefer Ascot to cheltenham for a days racing. I went to Cheltenham a few years back and we found shockingly that we weren't allowed to drink alcohol in the grandstand, had to stay in a bar away from the track. Disappointing.
I totally agree. ITV racing, who did we have part of Royal Ascot ITV team a medioca jump jockey who gets on my nerves. It's all about snobbery, just like British racing it's about you scratch my back ill scratch yours.
The lack of honest truthful options is sadly missing. Ruby when on is a breath of fresh air. Fitzgerald will never give criticism when it comes to bad rides, and you don't need to be brains from Thunderbirds to know why.
As for the others, let's get it right, having talked to the normal man on track. I guarantee the first thing the snob brigade does is shower. Commentators and the ITV team I wonder if they could string a sentence together if the word KEEN did not exist.
Within 5 minutes depressed because not a show goes by without the latest who died piece.
The problem is not the prize money. it's the 5 star stays in hotels and expensive dinners that come out of the pot whilst discusing minor issues.
Jessica Harrington did to racing what Hitler did for European holidays in the 40s.
I know what she did in 10 years of racing. She sent in loads of receipts for glorified holidays, free dinners, and stays in 5 star hotels in the name of racing.
I like this banks guy, but I'd like to hear his thoughts on the current rip of bookies mentality that's going on. Which 99% of the gullible punter don't have a clue.

Loved Ascot this year. Lucky enough to be trackside for the Albany and the excitement was staggering. Overall, there were so many good races and a good spread of winners which made the betting much less predictable and therefore much more fun. The weather really did help but we had a fabulous day
Oh and great comparison of the uk election to the mares hurdle. Like you said earlier on in the show, a poor bunch with normally one horse 20l better than the rest.....and it's the same in the election....and it's a not one of the traditional parties

Im a flat racing fan, ive always wanted to go to royal ascot its by far the best meeting of the year. Wanted to see the arc but id probably not enjoy it with the tossery over there.
