I liked it, Beverly Hills Cop 4 had a simple task. The task being “Be better than part 3 and don’t be watered down like Coming 2 America”. It succeeded in my book.
It isn’t an original film, there’s a fair amount of rehashing of the first 2 films in the first half. But after that it becomes its own thing. For me BHC4 felt like a proper sequel and a nice trip down memory lane. Overall I was satisfied and I’m glad they didn’t wimp out on the R-Rating.

I liked it too, Brandon. I mean, I didn't NOT like it. I enjoyed seeing the guys back together again. In fact, I kept wondering just how long the three had actually, in movie time, not seen eachother. For instance, had they been on fishing trips like when they were supposed to go with the chief that time? Do they even call and keep up with eachother? Stuff like that became more important to me than the plot which, yeah, was crazy and predictable. I think Foot Loose dude was just there for the check. Otherwise, I would see this again...at my house...on my tv.

I appreciated this movie because it's part of the beloved franchise that I grew up watching and I can still watch the first and second Beverly Hills cop over and over. I had high hopes for this movie, however, the writing completely missed Mark.
Where did the daughter come from and why were they so strange. It wasn't properly addressed and it was a huge distraction. Who is axel Foley today. What is his point of view. No one is going to address his age at all? He clearly is not the street smart slick talker he used to be.
His demeanor seems more like the Eddie Murphy from Dr. Dolittle. It was not believable as the street smart cop who could trick anyone with his wiles. I was so confused at who this character was. He's not the same. They should've addressed that and had him have a point of view. Was he trying to recapture his youth? Was he an older guy with swag? I mean Samuel Jackson could've played the part better than Eddie Murphy at this point. Because this Eddie Murphy is so suburban and out of touch with this character at this point.
For him to play a street smart cop he needed to have a Director and a writer that would get him back in the same mindset. It just didn't happen for me. So this movie was goofy and not believable. And the plot super obvious so we all figured it out in the first 20 minutes. So I guess this was pretty much a labor of love and done for fun. Obviously the budgets are not the same so you can't expect the same level of quality as the first two, but I would've hoped they would've had better writers to have Eddie Murphy be believable.
Then to give him a contrived conflict with the daughter who we've never heard of, and have that relationship attempt to work itself out throughout this movie, just did not make sense.
The Axel Foley that I knew would have never abandoned his daughter. The dude had integrity. He flew to cali because captain bogamil was injured. He convinced the guys to investigate the alphabet crimes. Now he’s a goofy dude who abandoned his only daughter. How dumb and awful. Tyler Perry has enough of this trope owe didn’t need it here. Who TF wrote this. Disappointed.

Outside the 'shoot out' at the mansion sequence at the end (pitiful). The rest is brilliant. BHC#2 was OK. I walked out in the middle of BHC#3. Today, I settled down to ENJOY BHC4. IN MY OPINION. 'Eddie Murphy has lost 'his movie actor/director MoJo.' BHC4 Issues? No cohesive plot, poor writing, editing skills way below industry standards. I give it ONE STAR

I agree on the 5 maybe weak 6.
I am sry but this was not really good. Do not get me Wrong Eddy murphy was great as axel foley but unfortanetly the movie around him was not. I will try to explain why at least i thought it was not. What i would have loved to see was axel taggert and rosewood having 1 last adventure. Because those 3 had amazing chemistry and they still have in this movie but there are only a few scenes of them together. Instead we get a lot of scenes with axel and the ex boyfriend of his daughter wich i could not care less about. And the scenes with his daughter were not great either. They make him out to be a bad father just so the plot can move on and something can happen in the end. Of course i will not spoil anything. And btw. The Action did not look great either you could clearly see the green screen. I could list even more but it is already long enough and i had some fun with the movie whenever axel was beein axel.

@@TheCamp0r That's what I did not like about this film everything we know about Axel Foley from previous films is that he would not have ended up being a dead beat dad I absolutely hated that aspect of the film

It started out amazing huge massive I was like I’m liking this more then the first 3 then it dropped of like 30 minutes and got bad for a super long time then you get to them stealing the helicopter and the cross over moment happens and then it is better the first 3 from there till it ends and that was like 45 minutes left it was a long movie

Grew up on Eddie Murphy movies but this was absolute trash. Barely laughed at all, the whole thing felt so forced.
Top gun maverick was garage too. Just a recycled version of the original.

The plot doesn’t make sense. No shit! That’s the point. It low key satirizes all the weird, quirky, logically bankrupt plots from ‘80’s movies. That was part of its charm and appeal for me. Chill, My N…A, just chill….
