Mine as well. I have visited many times but the last time was 2017. Miss it so. Makes me sad and happy at the same time seeing it now. Hope to, one day, own a small cottage there.
Hi Gabriel, Not what I expected from the Pythagoras cave but I'm not surprised. The Pythagorean theorem is still taught in school today. It's amazing that such knowledge comes from such places so remote in the world there are so many of these places that exist around world.
I haven't heard the name Pythagoras since high school days. Would never have imagined that some 30 odd years later I'd hear the name next on something called "youtube" on the "internet", watching some guy going to Pythagoras' cave on the Greek Islands ! Interesting stuff indeed. Love the barren landscapes too, definitely a highlight of all these islands.
Pythagoras is one of the most well-known mathematician and philosopher in the western civilization, for example the Pythagorean Theorem x^2 = a^2 + b^2
I am also a Greece lover, and Samos is one of my reference, I was there last may and I will return again at the end Of this month (october), I wanted visiting Pythagoras Cave but it was at noon and very hot day, so I decided not to climb up, hope this time I will try it again! Better to cancel your trip to Patmos, I made also that trip, and it was very windy day, so don't ask me how I arrived , the worst that sea sickness! I also like to travel alone and to meet people , I have been 4 times in that island! By the way Patmos is AMAZING!
Great to see some car ride again, I always enjoy them. Loved Ganesh on your t-shirt, as well, I've always had kind of a "weak spot cum awe" for him😉. Samos seems to be a really great island, not too touristy. This is what I like about your vids, you always manage to show interesting and off the tracks spots wherever you are. All the best to your friend, poor thing...
What a great video! Very, very interesting. I really like the quiet, authentic places in these islands. What a neat place this one is. Well-wishes to your friend; too bad she had to cut her visit short. I hope she’ll mend soon. 👍🏼✌🏼
i`m amazed at the fact of how you Gabriel (in your most inner thoughts) can remember places, process their likes and compare them... not only for being there before (and more than just once) but specially for having been almost EVERYWHERE in the world. Cheers
One of the most beautiful countries in Europe + hospitable people . was there sometime back was great...and neighbouring island ikaria is cool too has a castle ontop of a mountain.
Of all the places you've shown on your Greek Islands jaunt, Ormos is by far my favorite so far. I also noted that Pythagoras's cave was in another almost inaccessible place like some other small churches. One would have to have been a really dedicated student to make that climb every school day to sit in a cave. Sorry to hear about your friend having her trip cut short by injury.
Gabriel iv been watching all your travels in Greece videos, i plan to live on one of the islands one day , just dont know which one yet ..Ikaria looks to be the quietest with a solid community Peace from Canada !
garbagecan fpv well i live in greece and i want to live in canada :p . Trust me greek cities are absolute garbage. Only islands and villages are kind of beautiful
Fantastic video as usual Gabe! It has to be mentioned what an amazing little studio apartment you found for that price! I don’t think it’s possible to get a place that affordable with an awesome ocean view like that anywhere else besides Greece. That was absolutely perfect!
The isles of Greece! The isles of Greece! No wonder many people have fallen in love with them. Non-touristy islands are the real Greece. Hospitable people, great food, too much to see. Why wait? Life's too short. Visit now.
You are going so well...227 k now... your personality is quite infectious. Such a lovely guy, genuine.being yourself is hard to do on camera. Your videos are like being there ,nicely paced and informative. Go Gabe. .
You have seen only the big cave he used as a classroom and for water collection, about half way up there is a small path that leads to a bit of a climbing route to his living cave
Cool thing you`re in the land of greek heroes...curious thing you mentioned Pythagoras I was re-watching "The Backbone of Night" episode of Carl Sagan`s Cosmos the other night and He was right there at the island itself explaining Aristarchus and Theodorus of Samos, Thales of Miletus and Anaximander, nice to see Samos back from your approach!.... Are you a ¨Cosmos¨ Kid too from back in the day?
@@GabrielTravelerVideos There are three little islands north - northwest from Corfu with picturesque little villages and nice beaches wich I believe is in your style more than Corfu itself. The names are: Othoni(393 inhabitants) Mathraki and Erikousa. You may go there by little ferry from the north part of Corfu, which is more beautiful than the southern part (in my opinion) .
We went there on a hired motor scooter years ago, in 2013 I think. Roads were unpaved most of the road. We lost all of our fuel and had to walk for hours. Still good fun tho. Think the real main cave is higher up and requires some serious climbing.
Thanks for your beautiful videos! They are very useful for those who are planning a similar trip, because they are showing the reality a traveler faces. 😊👍
Awesome job Gabriel. Pitty you didn't visit the construction of one of Pythagoras puppils (Eupalinos) to drill through the mountain and provide water from Marathokampos where you stayed to Kokkari you visited. And he did it by opening simultaneously 2 tunnels that actually met one each other almost at the middle of the mountain. An exquisite and difficult task because it's accuracy in doing it so is greater even from the tunnel that connects France and England today. A marvel of engineering feat. Even Stephen Hawking admired it. Also do you know that Samos is probably the place with the best wines in all over Greece? The monks send around all over Europe chose finally a sweet wine from Samos for the Jubilee festivities.
Thank you for showing Samos. It`s beautiful and it`s good to know there are less touristic places. BTW where can I buy the T-shirt you`re wearing in this video (or similar one)?
So crazy! I'm in Greece right now as well. I went the other way and went north to Meteroa though. Beautiful place, but now in Athens and it's odd to say the least.
Pythgoras never lived or teach in a cave according to ancient scripts. I guess that's just a tourist attraction. Most of his life spent away from Greece which he left at a very young age , like Egypt, , Chaldaia , India, then bak to Greece for very short and then to Kroton Italy.
Patmos is where John, the apostle of Jesus spent his remaining time here on earth. I would love to visit that area, it’s where John received the Revelation. I’m married and have 4 small children, and I’m living vicariously through your travels😁. Please tell me what you see or find out about the apostle John while you are there.
Gabriel, thank you so much for your expedient reply to my question about what that white, food, mash-up was at timepoint, 16:19! Now, I tried to find your reply here in the longer list of them, but I could not locate it, so ... I am putting my reply, (to your reply) as a separate comment altogether. :)
No problem. The reason it wasn't there is I deleted the original comment because it was just a note to subscribers and I didn't want it to stay under the video forever, so I only left it up for a few days. Tzatziki is the stuff you were asking about. It's tasty.
Yep, gotcha! I can read all replies and such, when they come into my email Inbox, so ... even if I can't find them posted herein, I still know what was "said" / written.
Ah sorry to hear about your friend, these things happen but such a shame. I hope she is able to meet up with you again in the near future. Samos looks like a great place to explore, the caves were really interesting. A bit off topic but the ad before your video started was a Intrepid Travel ad about visiting Venice and the island of Burano. Out of curiosity, have you ever been to those places before? I went to Venice last summer and absolutely loved it, lots of crowd escaping went on with strategic planning haha and it was worth it, especially getting up at 6am to explore with no one around! I really wanted to go to Burano but I didn’t have time but I will definitely return one day. I was just wondering if you’ve ever been? 😁
Amazing price for a hotel room. I thought you were meeting up with your friend that was flying in? Are there a lot of stray dogs there? That would make me sad.
I wanna go to Patmos with my husband 2 little children. Do you have any idea where is the best place to stay in an island close to it? Which is not touristic, a little bit relax & nice for our children. Thank you.
The best place to stay is the port town of Skala, where I started the video. From there you can rent a car and drive to all the other places on the island.
Great as usual bro! Safe travels! Trying to get caught up with your vids. Still editing some of mine. Ha e Hawaii and san antonio left to finish. Wifi issues put me way bwhind. Lol. Just posted my last video from Australia. Peace
@@GabrielTravelerVideos yes I am for the winter probably. Made a trip to Ohio for the month of october visiting some family and friends. Samos looks like a Greek island i would enjoy. Not full on tourism like Santorini or the other islands but could be a bit boring if a solo traveler. And $33 for that room is a good deal. How much for car? Nice to see a beach that's not rocks but sand. Seems like a lot of Greek beaches are rocks. Not very appealing to me
Thank you for this video. Traveling as you do can be very enlightening from so many angles. So sorry your friend got injured hope for healing. You never mention politics or current events in the countries you visit. Is there a conscious reason for this?
I like the fact there are not tourist everywhere. It seems very relaxing.

Samos is the island of Pythagoras (he was born there), and it's a city called Pythagorio which is one of the best places you should visit there!
Yes Pythagoreio was really nice, unfortunately I didn't film there at all.

Samos is amazing beautiful Island

Here here bro

Samos is amazing in the summer .there is tunnel 1 mile long it's well worth going and the most amazing museums there
