    With nightshades I put Cal-Mag in with every feeding as soon as the fruits form. That way I avoid blossom end rot entirely.

      @@whycamucwatuwant I suppose it makes sense that a larger plant would use more nutes than a smaller one, and that setting and ripening fruit would require more nutrients than the phase of building stems and leaves. Aerogarden wanted to make hydroponics very easy; the kiddie pool of hydroponics. As we get more skilled though, we can add more complexity.

    Did you continue to use 12 ml of AeroGarden nutrients though the whole experiment? I've never bumped it up for anything, but that seems so logical. Our tomatoes have always taken at least 100 days, maybe more, before any are ready to harvest. I wonder whether an Elite would help, or more nutrition.
    I would love to see an experiment comparing MaxiGro only vs MaxiBloom with some tomatoes!
    By the way - if you haven't tried Ghevici micro dwarf tomatoes, you might love their bright yellow color and citrusy flavor. So good! Mine are at most 5" high, but they spread out and with tightly packed foliage and loads of tomatoes.

    Another question but off topic
    How is your electric composter Doing? Do you still use it ? I would think that if you also had a compost tumbler( there pretty cheap) and throw this partially broken down waste would be a win win

    • @aerogardenexperiments
      @aerogardenexperiments  Год назад +3

      It is taking up a lot of electricity and I am using it less often these days. If you have a traditional (and real) composter, it's better to use that. I have been composting in a traditional way this whole summer. Now that I am entering winter season, I won't be motivated to do traditional composting so I may end up using my electric composter again every now and then.
      I am hesitant to say the electric one as composter because it is not really composting the material. It will only make the material compost ready. However, it will just make the large volumes of food waste into a small volume and also dry up the food so that I don't see any rodents or bugs digging my garden beds for food. So, I really like it in this perspective. I am saving a lot of land fill.

    Does the bounty elite get light from the window it is near? Could that effect its growth?

    • @aerogardenexperiments
      @aerogardenexperiments  Год назад +1

      No, it doesn't get any light from window. I keep the blinds closed all the time. Even if it gets light, it's indirect light and doesn't help tomato plants.

    Do you use ph stick or EC stick? If so, what do you use to up ph or lower ph? And how do you use the indicator sticks and how often? And how do you use product for ph up or lower ph?

    • @aerogardenexperiments
      @aerogardenexperiments  Год назад +2

      No, I don't measure pH or EC. Aerogarden nutrients comes with pH buffer. I just change the water once in a while which reset any imbalances.

  • @abelin8307

    What are the light cycles? If it can be set manually, have you tried with longer light on cycles? I want to see a comparison during seedling & fruiting stages of it.

    • @aerogardenexperiments
      @aerogardenexperiments  Год назад

      For tomatoes, I go with 16 hours lighting. I prefer to keep it at the max of 16 hours for any plant variety since that is how the nature is in general. And, I don't prefer to reduce the lighting at different stages. As soon as they started producing leaves, they are leverage the light very well. By the way, I try to keep the lights off during the germination process. Once the seedlings showed up, no more changes.

  • @erikap.3857

    Can you share what your water cycles are on through the plant cycles?

    • @aerogardenexperiments
      @aerogardenexperiments  Год назад +1

      In all of my Bounty models, I set the pump running for 10 mins and resting for 5 mins. It is not really making any difference compared to the standard cycle of 5 min on and 25 min off. However, I just set to 10&5 a while ago and just continuing with it.

      Adding cal-mag at blossom doesn't hurt at all but I don't see it necessary at that stage. But, they surely need additional cal-mag once the baby tomatoes show up. Of course, it doesn't take any longer from blossoms to baby tomatoes.

      I purchased Neem oil for my plants because a friend who has a huge garden tower recommended it, but after reading on the back how toxic it is, EVEN the vapors, I don't want to use it!! That would be the same as some harsh chemical to me... since I want to grow clean hydroponically. However I do recall Paul Harvey, who used to be a famous commentator years ago(🙈), said a good substitute was to take a spray bottle & mix in water, baking soda & a lil dish detergent(not much at all(Shake it up well) spray on your plants to keep clean of pests, & I believe diseases. I'm sure there are home remedies that will be on you tube that will work just fine.
