    There are few things more special than a teacher who can not only teach, but raise the spirits of her students. I came in here with frustration over this topic but you have bridged my understanding, made me smile, and chuckle. I cannot thank you enough, Ana.

Your videos have helped many of my students understand many difficult grammar areas of the language. Thanks so much for your hard work on explaining our language to many.

    I like the videos. I've learnt a lot from them. Learning Spanish for over 20 yrs. I'm a man of color American - 70yrs old. If I had saw these videos earlier I could have learnt what I know now. Maybe in 3 - 4 yrs. I can read Spanish very easily. Speak it fairly well in a conversation. Translate it very very well. My vocabulary allows me to follow your examples easily. I like tranlating Spanish as much as speaking it. Estar bien Entounces Ana, tengo que irne a mirar más de tus videos. Estoy muy contento con vuestra enseñanzas. Cuidate. Portarse bien. Y sigale haciendo los buenos videos para todo la gente, en particular los genres cómo yo. Yo quiero saber describir Español muy correcto sin mucho errores. Tengo ganas que describir in libro en Español (children's book). Usted eres una mucha jovencita muy amable, tambien muy intelegente. Una de educada estas usted. Hi there. I have enjoyed your videos. I have a unique case. I took 2 years of Spanish in high school and fell in love with it. Over the past 11 or 12 years I have studied all sorts of materials, flash cards, tons of audio, researched every spanish learning product and tried most, watch TV in Spanish...but didnt always do it religiously until the past 3 or 4 years. Now I study and watch TV in Spanish literally every day and still have a passion for it. I understand about 85% of what is spoken to me and about 95% of what I read. I'm always complemented on my accent in Spanish and told it is very native sounding (usually tell me Puerto Rican). However, when it's my turn to speak I realize how little it seems I know. I find myself not able to pull the right words or the correct tense to use, etc. I completely understand that I need someone to be able to speak to routinely and that is about the only way to break out of my plateau that I've been on for what seems to be years now. I have made efforts to find people to practice with and frankly there are many Hispanics in my town but I have no luck finding someone to practice steadily with. Any other advice you can offer for me to become fluent? Thank you for your time.

    • @thethrashyone
      @thethrashyone 6 лет назад +29

      That's interesting, because using ustedes only (even towards your friends) kind of seems overly formal if you think about it. Usted is a contraction of vuestra merced ("your grace" or "your mercy"), hence why usted(es) takes third-person conjugations.
      Spaniards: Sois cómicos. = Y'all are funny.
      Latin Americans: Ustedes son cómicos. = Your graces are funny.
      Sure, I understand that most Latin Americans aren't even thinking "vuestras mercedes" when they say ustedes, I'm sure that association has long been lost to the average speaker. I'm just saying that _on the face of it,_ the idea that Castilian Spanish sounds more uppity is kind of ironic.

      Actually, any verb in Spanish where the subject also acts as the direct object (receiving the action) can be reflexive if used properly. For example, "él se habla." "He speaks to himself." That's correct. I've been teaching Spanish for 15 years and I might start posting videos.

      +NewRUclipsSucks Many Latin@s call themselves moren@s because of their complexion not their nationality. Like, there are blancos, morenos, trigueñas, y negros in Africa as well as in Mexico. It's about what they consider themselves(and complexion) more than where they're from.

    This channel helps me get some practice even though I’m Mexican but I have trouble reading,speaking and writing but I understand it and know basic conversation with my parents but I get really nervous when I speak with others besides my parents I feel anxious but I try
    I normally get weird reactions when I speak Spanish to another Spanish speaker because for a Mexican I’m pale and I have freckles I feel like I secretly get judged by others by the way I look but I’ll continue my studies
    Currently re learning Spanish and Lear Japanese thank you for these videos ✌️ 🇲🇽 💕

    Ana. I just want to say your classes are very useful and fun. You are such a great person. You really are. I wish I could meet you and give you a big hug. You’re so nice. I hope if I have a daughter one day she’s like you.

    You are simply adorable! You made it so easy to understand this topic that I've been trying to figure out for a while now, and it was entertaining. I can't wait to watch more of your videos to supplement my learning on Duolingo. Someone there posted your video as an explanation to why we were using te instead of tu and that's how I found you. Thanks so much! I made a donation, so I hope you'll be able to make more videos soon and then I'll make more donations!

    Muchas gracias, Ana! You always make things so clear and easy to understand. This lesson was very useful for me, lately I've been hearing reflexive verbs in the movies and they got me a bit confused. I've learned quite a lot of new verbs from this lesson! Eres mi maestra favorita del RUclips :)

    Just studying reflexive verbs with my teacher and so I’m looking on RUclips (my go to tool box) and you explain this concept very clearly to me compared with many of the other teachers. So THANK YOU and I’ve supported your excellent work therefore. I’m 60 and loving learning and am lucky enough to have found a great F2F native teacher here near where I live (Thanet, Kent, England).

    You explain the use of reflexive verbs so well in this video. Before watching this, I used to confuse with me/te/se/nos + verb OR verb + a. Now, I understand it. Muchas gracias!
