    Let me know what your hard drive config is? How many drives and what RAID did you use?

    thanks for going over all three options. do these disks need to be usb/thunderbolt? No networked drives?

    Hey! thanks for this..My RAID 1 with 2x 10TB drives only read at half speed. I've tried a few different options..

    How does Raid 1 mirror 3 hard drives? It seems like you would need an even number of drives for it to work. Thanks

      macOS creates 'slices' and with RAID1 it saves the data twice on two different drives. So file A would be stored on drive 1 and 2, then file B would be saved on drive 2 and 3, file C would be stored on drive 3 and 1 for example. No idea how exactly it is distributed but you get the idea.

    Can you use this RAID 0 drive for installing Big Sur? Will it work?

    Not sure if you’re able to help, but I currently have a 24TB G-RAID 2 Hard Drive. I want to use it as a RAID 1 but when I click on the disk within the Disk Utility the ‘Next’ option is greyed out and unable to move to the next stage

    how to setup WD my book from raid 1 to raid 0 using disk utility? i can not find the right old app for this purpose.

    • @gengpan

      mac can only recognize half of the size as it is raid 1.

    yo what about doing this with my two SSD's? I have a Raid 0 right now on my 2012 but I need to update my iOS, and it says it's not compatible with my RAID 0... I don't mind splitting my SSD's, but honestly I love the speed I have, and don't have reason for two separate drives.

    this may be a dumb question... but how do you know if the raid is actually being used on the data you are processing? are you suppose to open it from the raid you created? like drag the files onto that new disk?

    • @laurensbot
      @laurensbot 2 года назад

      As you can see in the video you end up with a new drive, use this and you will be utilising the RAID underneath. No extra steps needed.

    No videos on how to fix a raid. I started in recovery raid 1. I cannot tell what drive is having errors. When I check each disk it shows no error but when I run DU on the raid I get an error. Then in recovery it ask me what disk I want to add to recovery and tells me all data will be erased. I dont have a backup hence the whole reason for raid.

    • @2010khampton
      @2010khampton Год назад

      RAID is not/never been a backup solution. If one drive is dead then you should be able to replace that drive and still retain your data. If the RAID config is screwed up then you're out of luck. You still need to backup your RAID array .
