    Awesome review. Thank you for taking the time to prepare this review.
    I have been on the fence to buy either one, and here's why. I currently use the Masterbuilt Gravity Series 560 smoker/grill. It comes with one probe (although I bought more) and has built-in WiFi to run the controller. You'll see online comments going about 70/30 about how bad the WiFi connection is, or how poorly the probe reads true temp. For me, personally, I have found that the probes read rather well (and I use my instant ThermoWorks Pen to verify), and yes, the cooking chamber is not exactly at the temp the controller reads; but this comes back to knowing your grill and what to expect from it and how to make adjustments. No grill is perfect. I've had it now for 2 years and produce great cooks form it.
    The main reason I haven't pulled the trigger on either of these two products is because it would force me to monitor TWO separate apps on my phone (one for the wireless probe, and the other for the MB controller on the smoker). It's overkill, when the MB product is suffice for my needs, and like I said, I haven't found too much of a discrepancy on my MB unit to say it's "completely way off". Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones.
    That said - I agree with you 100%. Should I venture into one of these two gadgets, I (too) would prefer the Meatstick +. I like the pointers you mentioned about it and for the dollar cost, it's a great product for what it does.
    Thanks again....

      No problem man! I appreciate the kind words. I guess I’ve just gotten used to the multiple apps. I mostly use the Char-Griller gravity 980 at this point, but I rarely use the probe. I just realized I’ll probably be using 3 apps on the regular lol.

      I have the 1050 MasterBuilt with a rotisserie well you can’t use these wired ones with the rotisserie so I bought a meater plus Works perfect with the rotisserie I keep hearing everybody talk about the meat stick was better but I’m happy with my meater plus

    Been using the Meater + now for a couple months now and love it. Looking to add more but haven’t decided to go with just a single or a multi pack.

    • @SkullandMortar

      Definitely depends on what you are doing for sure. I usually do big cooks so I’d go with the multi, but if you don’t normally cook more than one or two things it might be better to hold off

    Solid video man, I'm looking at both right now, and while they don't mention how many probes a base will support. Meatstick sells a combo with 1 base and 2 probes for $155. So 1 base will work with at least 2 probes. And they sell the probes by themselves for $55, they also have a $99 version that has an extender that gives you up to 300ft.

    Excellent review sir. I have never used either but I always thought the Meater kinda blunt tip was a mistake in engineering. If I bought either I think I'd lean towards the Meatstick X. On the other hand when I had my BBQ business before I never used a wireless probe and I had no issues with the wired probes at all.

    • @SkullandMortar
      @SkullandMortar  2 года назад

      I’m considering remaking it because they sent me the Wi-Fi piece. I always use the MeatStick pro if I’m cooking one thing, if I’m cooking multiple I use the MEATER. If I had more MeatStick probes I’d probably stick with that.

    You're completely wrong about the line on the Meater. That's the MINIMUM depth to protect the internal sensor which is near the tip of the probe. The ambient sensor is just the very end of the Meater. If you only insert the probe up until the line you are closer to risking damage than putting it in further.

    • @SkullandMortar
      @SkullandMortar  2 года назад

      That’s literally where they say to put it.

    • @turkeyphant
      @turkeyphant 2 года назад +3

      @@SkullandMortar Did you not read the massive red ATTENTION label attached to it? It says in capital letters to "always insert PAST the line to avoid damage".

    • @SkullandMortar
      @SkullandMortar  2 года назад

      @@turkeyphant yeah dude, I said put it in to the line. Like the sticker said.

    • @turkeyphant
      @turkeyphant 2 года назад +4

      @@SkullandMortar I don't know why you're being so defensive. The video was great apart from that error. The sticker says in capitals PAST the line not up to the line.

    • @SkullandMortar
      @SkullandMortar  2 года назад

      @@turkeyphant I’m not being defensive. I placed the probe as I understood the direction. I appreciate the compliment on the rest of the video. I’ve been using the MEATER since it dropped after kickstarter, it’s a great thermometer. I always push the line just under the surface. I guess I’d have to see it again, it’s been a few years.
