Super stoked to do this comparison. What’s your favorite thermometer?
Looking forward to watching this later. Got a Thermoworks Smoke X2 for Christmas and I've been very happy with it.
@@ciao_7836 awesome man. I’ve never used that one before. I’ll have to check it out.
Awesome review. Thank you for taking the time to prepare this review.
I have been on the fence to buy either one, and here's why. I currently use the Masterbuilt Gravity Series 560 smoker/grill. It comes with one probe (although I bought more) and has built-in WiFi to run the controller. You'll see online comments going about 70/30 about how bad the WiFi connection is, or how poorly the probe reads true temp. For me, personally, I have found that the probes read rather well (and I use my instant ThermoWorks Pen to verify), and yes, the cooking chamber is not exactly at the temp the controller reads; but this comes back to knowing your grill and what to expect from it and how to make adjustments. No grill is perfect. I've had it now for 2 years and produce great cooks form it.
The main reason I haven't pulled the trigger on either of these two products is because it would force me to monitor TWO separate apps on my phone (one for the wireless probe, and the other for the MB controller on the smoker). It's overkill, when the MB product is suffice for my needs, and like I said, I haven't found too much of a discrepancy on my MB unit to say it's "completely way off". Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones.
That said - I agree with you 100%. Should I venture into one of these two gadgets, I (too) would prefer the Meatstick +. I like the pointers you mentioned about it and for the dollar cost, it's a great product for what it does.
Thanks again....
No problem man! I appreciate the kind words. I guess I’ve just gotten used to the multiple apps. I mostly use the Char-Griller gravity 980 at this point, but I rarely use the probe. I just realized I’ll probably be using 3 apps on the regular lol.
I have the 1050 MasterBuilt with a rotisserie well you can’t use these wired ones with the rotisserie so I bought a meater plus Works perfect with the rotisserie I keep hearing everybody talk about the meat stick was better but I’m happy with my meater plus
Great video! Terry's mom goes for the meat stick as well. But one probe isn't enough.
Thanks dude! Poor Terry’s mom. 😂
Been using the Meater + now for a couple months now and love it. Looking to add more but haven’t decided to go with just a single or a multi pack.
Definitely depends on what you are doing for sure. I usually do big cooks so I’d go with the multi, but if you don’t normally cook more than one or two things it might be better to hold off
This was really interesting to watch, very informative and detailed comparison! I honestly didn't know there were such fancy thermometers but they seem pretty nifty! Good one!
Thanks man! They are fantastic for really nailing your grill game.
So interesting to see! Hadn't actually heard much about the Meatstick... really only the Meater, but I knew there had to be some competitors in the market worth checking out. Thanks so much for this comparison!
Thanks for watching!
Solid video man, I'm looking at both right now, and while they don't mention how many probes a base will support. Meatstick sells a combo with 1 base and 2 probes for $155. So 1 base will work with at least 2 probes. And they sell the probes by themselves for $55, they also have a $99 version that has an extender that gives you up to 300ft.
Thanks man! Trying to step my review game up. I’ve got the Wi-Fi set up for the MeatStick and have used with with 4 probes and had no problems at all.
A great review, 2 mom jokes and a classic Sting shirt? It just makes an awesome video!
😂 thanks man! I appreciate it.
That super loud and annoying sound static in the video's sound at the beginning of this video isn't good. Not good for human ears, with or without headphones or even good for speakers to be playing that. Other than that I thank you for the review.
Definitely something we tried to calm down in future videos. Thanks for the love!
Excellent review sir. I have never used either but I always thought the Meater kinda blunt tip was a mistake in engineering. If I bought either I think I'd lean towards the Meatstick X. On the other hand when I had my BBQ business before I never used a wireless probe and I had no issues with the wired probes at all.
Thanks man! I kept having wires short because of the heavy lids closing on them.
@@SkullandMortar ah yah I can see that. My smoker was a vertical smoker so easier on the wires.
Meatstick X was by far the worst purchase I have made… replaced after 6 months due to loss of connection, a month later same story. Straight in the bin. Worst $169 I have spent.
Did you contact them?
I’m digging the orange gloves
Thanks dude!
Great video, man!
Thanks man!
Awesome video! Looks delicious!!
Thank you!
Great review!!!
🙏🙏 thanks man
I agree meatstick is better i tried MEATER and had cloud connection issues on there end
💯💯
Time for a new review with updated products.
I’ve got one in the works!
Can you use multiple meat stick X's on the app at one time, or are you stuck with just one probe on the app at a time?
Yessir. You just pair them up.
Can this be used with hamburgers or are they too small for the probe? Thanks!
It’d have to be a pretty big one. Maybe the smaller MeatStick.
It is an awesome video!
Much appreciated! Thanks for checking it out.
Trying to decide between the two. I wish you would have revied the Meatstick Pro set against the Block so it's more apples to apples. Great job though.
I’m considering remaking it because they sent me the Wi-Fi piece. I always use the MeatStick pro if I’m cooking one thing, if I’m cooking multiple I use the MEATER. If I had more MeatStick probes I’d probably stick with that.
I used a thermogun probably not a good idea
Lol
Probably not for internal temps. Lol
Bruh i thought this was chum lee at first
No you didn’t.
who's Terri's Mom lol
A poor old lady with a s.o.b. for a son. 🥶
You're completely wrong about the line on the Meater. That's the MINIMUM depth to protect the internal sensor which is near the tip of the probe. The ambient sensor is just the very end of the Meater. If you only insert the probe up until the line you are closer to risking damage than putting it in further.
That’s literally where they say to put it.
@@SkullandMortar Did you not read the massive red ATTENTION label attached to it? It says in capital letters to "always insert PAST the line to avoid damage".
@@turkeyphant yeah dude, I said put it in to the line. Like the sticker said.
@@SkullandMortar I don't know why you're being so defensive. The video was great apart from that error. The sticker says in capitals PAST the line not up to the line.
@@turkeyphant I’m not being defensive. I placed the probe as I understood the direction. I appreciate the compliment on the rest of the video. I’ve been using the MEATER since it dropped after kickstarter, it’s a great thermometer. I always push the line just under the surface. I guess I’d have to see it again, it’s been a few years.
I wish I could get off their stupid Email list! I get Emails from these mutts every freaking day, this company is really irritating!
Which company?
