- Florida State University's iconic symbols represent the university's values and reputation for respect, competition and commitment to overall excellence.
The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) awarded "Spirit of Florida State" the top honor in the 2013 CASE Circle of Excellence Awards in the category of PSAs and Commercial Spots. It was produced by Florida State students in the FSU College of Motion Picture Arts and other university programs in partnership with the Office of University Communications.
Ten years later and this ad still gives me goosebumps and makes me proud to be an FSU alumni

You do know that everything Florida State does in regards to Osceola and all things Seminole related is highly regulated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Anything they say, FSU abides by. There is a reason why FSU is one of the only, if not the only university left with a Native American mascot.

You obviously aren't educated on this history of the Seminole Tribe of Oklahoma and their endorsement of Florida State's use of Chief Osceola as their mascot. The Miccosukee (spelled correctly) Tribe also endorsed the name when the NCAA tried banning native nicknames. You couldn't be further from factual in your comment.
The seminoles in Oklahoma are actually referred to as the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, and FSU never refers to Osceola and Renegade as our mascot, they are symbols representing the unconquered spirit of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. But you are right in that we have the support of both the Seminole Tribe and the Seminole Nation

Chief Osceola is a positive symbol, and Florida State, as a university, works diligently to maintain his integrity in portraying the proud tradition of not only the Seminoles, but all of America's native tribes. To get so bent out of shape about this, when there are a thousand other things wrong in American college system... laughable.
