I’ve been using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum in most of my cars for several years. It’s an excellent oil that can be bought for a good price. Fantastic oil. I can’t comment on blow-by but others have had good success.
I used platinum ultra for a few years and it is really good, but I noticed an improvement after trying Valvoline R&P. I have since moved all my vehicles to Valvoline.
I've been using Pennzoil ultra Platinum 5W-20 in my 2013 Challenger, currently at 209,000 miles and never changed the PVC valve or the cam phasers, they've always been spotless. any oil will clean, if you change it at 5000 mil intervals, the problem is, you don't
There's no doubt big strides have been made in modern synthetic oil technology. I think modern oils allow better detergent packages unlike older technology oils. Amazing that an older neglected engine can be brought back to life with a good cleaning and more frequent oil changes. Who would have thought😅. Great vid👍
I find this hard to believe since several tests done on pennzoil platinum (NOT ultra platinum) show that it has noticeably fewer detergents than other oil brands. The only thing special is the base stock, which is made from natural gas and is apparently very clean. So it would seem this oil will produce very few deposits, but would not be good at cleaning deposits that are already there
Good argument! I'd say base stock plays a major role as you would know. The quality of a base stock may mean that the oil won't need as much additives to function at or beyond the level of another oil with a lesser quality base stock. Lakespeed addressed this in a different video. Regarding whether the oil will produce fewer vs cleaning existing deposits: the reduced blow-by since just the oil change tells me it does do something with regards to cleaning. However, definitely not at the same rate with VR&P. I'm just happy I never touched the PCV valve on the car because if I did, that could have explained the reduction in blow-by.
Someone stated in another video that R&P didn't have more detergents than some other oils, yet it does appear to clean very well. I believe we're at the point that the 'known detergent' additives that are shown in oil analysis's, aren't the only things in the oil that are doing some of the cleaning. There possibly is yet another additive that needs to be determined and shown in oil analysis tests. 🤔 Maybe a testing of the complete chemical make-up of R&P needs to be done to find it ? 🤔
I’m running one cycle of R&P and then running valvoline high mileage I have a 21 f150 with 2.7 and that rubber oil belt scares me so with the high mileage oil, it is high in ester which helps rubber/seals
The belt isn't really a concern as long as you change it according to the maintenance schedule. The 2.7 turned out to be a little beast with less issues than other engines.
Yeah, same. It's almost as if the old gear head claim that the deposits block leaks. I still don't have any regrets though, my 3rd oil change on my high mileage Honda noticeably increased power
Pennzoil is better protection. Valvoline cleans better. I used pennzoil for 15k switched to r and p. Engine got noisier but oil filters got alot dirtier faster and the inside visibly looks cleaner. Switched to mobil 1 and I like mobil 1 the best. Quiet motor and burns less oil now. Not a fan of r and p unless used for cleaning. Just my experience. Also, pennzoil platinum high mileage flows like 10w in cold. See project farm oil test. Since that leaves me with no high mileage option in my winter months I stopped using pennzoil.
Good point. Especially if you mean clog the PCV in the open position. Will be pulling the PCV valve soon and will know better, however, I doubt that's the case, as I don't have other symptoms of a stuck open pcv valve.
My experience with Pennzoil Platinum is the complete opposite. I had been using Valvoline Restore and Protect for about 9 months. I went to Walmart because they offer that oil for one of their packages. They were out and their “technician” took it upon himself to put in Pennzoil Platinum…in 1600 miles I went through 2 quarts!!! With Valvoline restore and protect I was using about a quart in 2000 miles…just my experience…
i dont believe this shit for a second. typically blow by is caused when someone neglects oil changes, and either the oil polymerizes and becomes sludge, or the soot deposits in the oil turn into sludge, then when it goes near the piston rings, they become friction stuck. Then the piston rings stop moving, because they usually spin in a circle, and only one part of the cylinder sleeve takes all the wear, the cylinder sleeve wears unevenly and theres a gap for the air to escape, until the blow by gets so bad that the engine misfires a lot and then it's thrown out. Happened to my prius engine at 260k miles. I was disabling the after throttle body pcv hose to get the engine to run. Anyway there's no way changing the oil you use, would undo fossilized piston rings which are the cause of blow by. I don't know what's causing the test results to look like it's working, if it's more blow by when the engine is cold, or if he was using a really bad oil as a control.
Ditto! I ain’t believing this pile of 💩 either. I would think cleaning the PCV valve would relieve some of that internal pressure as well. Need a before and after compression test to determine IMO. Amsoil or Quaker State works for me…
I need help with my highlander 2010 with 2.7ltr 4plug engine which my oil dealer advice me to switch from synthetic to mobil 1000 since it was shorting oil and mileage is over 200k but fuel consumption went high but I want to switch back to synthetic after my mechanic found out the oil was shorting due to weak oil seal, I don't know if it'll knock my engine or cause harm. The recommended oil was synthetic 0w20 or 5w20
And once again this Pennzoil oil is not available in south africa. 😂 Man this place just can't do anything right. 😔 If you do a video of the shittiest oil then we'll have it for sure. Available everywhere 😂
If Pennzoil Platinum isn't available in your country, look for a Shell Helix synthetic product. Pennzoil is owned by Shell and I believe, only available in North America.
@@lynch6642 I've heard of this befor buddy. Not sure how safe it is though. But i have nothing to lose i guess. My car has over 200 000 miles and hundreds of hours of idle time.

valvoline restore and protect is designed to remove sludge it has a better detergent package. both are good oils.
Agree
Great info 👍
Thanks!

Had any experience with Pennzoil Platinum regarding blow-by? I'm waiting to hear! 😃
keeps my kitty purrin like a smooth little momma on a Sunday.
Pennzoil Platinum does indeed do an excellent job at removing carbon, especially noticeable after the second change!
Did you buy a used US-car in Nigeria?
Nigeria and many African countries are major destinations for US-used cars. Brand new cars are also available.

Lols. Yea, that's one thing that can happen switching at high mileage, hence the high mileage blends.
Pennzoil HM seems to keep my engine from 'sweating' much better than any other HM oil. 281k mile 6.0 V8

Hi bro can you do testing try on Pakelo Lubricants Engine Oil, please let me know this engine oil is from Italy fyi
Hey. Thanks for watching and suggesting. The problem will be finding the oil. I've never heard of the Pakelo engine oil brand.
@ You may try it in the future video do let me update thanks 🙏
are you sure that is cylinder blow by or did the new oil clog your PCV valve?

What synthetic oil were you running previously? How much oil was it using in 1000 miles?
Can it reduce the noise of piston slap?
If you're looking for noise reduction for piston slap, that would be thicker oil, but that has its own problems.
@DIYAutoworksNG yup, It's 0W20 recommended oil. I'm gonna try thicker one. I just need to reduce piston slap noise. I don't want to fix it.
