Said this before to someone in youtube as well but i'll say it here again :
Most of our Moroccans pastries are not too sweet although they're technically considered as "a type of sweets" and that because our tea is always a bit too sweet (Something foreighners say but since we drink it our whole life like that, we really don't fee it) so, in order to balance things out, we don't put too much sugar in our sweets
Also bare in mind that in Morocco we call them "Dwaz atay" which translates to "What goes along with tea" or "To be paired with tea" thus, in order not to make it a diabetic nightmare, most of the pastries are barely sweet
There's an exception which's ramadan sweets (Chebakya, briwates ..et) and this again comes to balance things out, they're a bit too sweet because they don't go along with tea, they are served with the Harira soup wich is a savory soup
The same rule applies in too many different dishes, so that's why you'll find alot of people saying that tbe Moroccan cuisine is all about the Sweet & savory balance !!
