Having lived in Mexico for 35 years now, I try to steer clear of ex-pats. Most of them have no respect for the people, they don't want to learn the language, everything about Mexico is bad according to them. They are different types. 1) Those that truly love the culture and enjoy living here. Then there are the 2) and 3), Those that are here just for the weather and those that are here because it's cheap and they can no longer afford to live in the U.S. Mexico is not the U.S. and let's hope it never is.

My experience in Mexico is that if someone does not return a greeting or greet you it will be an ex-pat.

I'm glad you guys took the break you needed but yes, I'm also super happy that you're back but most importantly that you guys look good and are safe and happy ❤️ I'll share that I struggle with anxiety. I have something called emetophobia (basically I'm super scared of vomiting). Each person has different struggles with anxiety but in general it's just hard to explain what it's like and how it affects you. Most of the time I don't say much about it, not because I want to hide it but because it's hard to explain haha. Anyway, all this to say that I can relate a little to what you were saying and I'm proud of you both for making the decisions that were right for you. Welcome back ❤️

(And so sorry to hear that some ex-pats caused you distress that added to everything else. People can be so GRRRRRR. What's helped me the most with all the anxiety from the pandemic (and w/other people's BS) is to remind myself that those are things that *I* have absolutely no control over, so it's best for my own well-being and self-preservation to focus on the things that bring me joy and the things that I CAN control. As someone who has been on medical leave since the end of January, partly tied to Anxiety, I felt like listening to this I was listening to myself. I'll be moving there next week with my husband, and like you I'm looking to move forward. Anxiety can have a huge impact in so many ways. It sounds like we both are doing better and are more aware of what's important, so welcome back and I look forward to experiencing all that you have shared, especially since your videos contributed to our decision to move.

you can take the gringos out of the US but not take the US out of the gringos. I am a gringa and no matter how long I've been involved with Mexican culture, there will always be a little bit of me that will always stay unchangeably gringa even I try to get rid of it - like sensitivities or being particular about certain things :D peace!
