    Jeremiah Vance (10th Planet Santa Barbara) is one of Eddie Bravo's best black belt competitors. As Joe Rogan mentioned, he is one of the best Rubber Guard players out there submitting opponents with his unorthodox style. Jeremiah won submission of the year for F2WINPRO, took Gold at IBJJF Paris Open (Brown Belt), and again at Gracie Worlds.
    With his insane flexibility and leg dexterity, Jeremiah catches many opponents with his Gogo Clinch, Dead Orchard and Fly Trap (from bottom side control). Would you like to see a breakdown of the Dead Orchard and Fly Trap Submission? Let me know in the comments below
    The second half of the video includes the Gogo Clinch Submission breakdown. The Gogo Clinch is a Gogoplata variation using a gable grip wrapped around the neck. This is an extremely efficient choke because it's using all 4 limbs and core to apply the strangle.

    I hate to get hit, so I learned to play guard from watching videos of the early MMA and have been fairly successful in situations where many folks would rather stay standing.
    So when I saw and played with rubber guard a little bit it was phenomenal. Granted I'm an absolute novice who has incorporated a smattering of skills garnered from growing up poor, servinging the Army in Panama, and having a penchant for championing bullied folks since a kid.
    When I was last living in ATX I almost came to check out Tenth Planet, but ended up going to GB South and enjoyed my time there.
    Thanks so much for everything you folks do for the sport, your fans, and especially the folks that play BJJ.
    Stay blessed! 🙏

      whats your opinion on rubber guard and 10th planet system in mma and compared to other jiu jitsu schools?

    • @BJJTrickster
      @BJJTrickster  5 лет назад +1

      @@troyphonethong7893 IMO I believe the RG is extremely effective since you are using one leg and one arm to maintain the broken posture while having a free hand to attack. Also, it takes a certain level of hip/leg mobility and squeeze/pinch endurance. So it takes many years to master the RG system just like any other system out there.
      You don't really see too much 10p style in MMA, the only people I can think of are Shinya, Iminari, Tony Ferguson, Ben S and Vinny M who use it pretty successfully.

    As someone with genetic flexibility but new to BJJ, I'll warn people to secure the omoplata shoulder before you pass your shin over the head. I tried a gogoplata during training and my training oartner hurt my knee unintentionally only by leaning into my leg. If the omoplata is solid this isn't a true issue. So don't rush to the finish without the proper setup.

    • @BJJTrickster
      @BJJTrickster  5 лет назад +1

      Yes, also hugging that knee in that position is super important because it helps prevent any knee injuries. That's why I prefer to use the gogoclinch over the gogoplata because I feel way more safer with the knee hug.

    The defense looks like keeping the leg from coming around by driving with the head. stacking might help that? Can't rotate to the open side because of the underhook/mission control.... maybe a desperation roll to the closed side, get the weight on the opponents other hip? Control the free leg and rotate away from it with pressure on the control leg/hip? gdamn i miss rolling.

    While I appreciate the technique and details there's no doubt 10th Planets system of jiu-jitsu is VERY attribute based. It's just not for everyone. The older, less flexible crowd? There's better systems out there that will cater to the masses (not hyper flexible). This system isn't one of them.

    • @etimezz
      @etimezz 5 лет назад +1

      There's a lot more to 10th planet jiu jitsu than rubber guard. People with all kinds of different physical attributes have success in it. Even if you do focus on rubber guard, there are ways to approach it successfully with less hip flexibility than Jeremiah posseses.

      Yeah, I like watching these vids and I used to do Jujitsu for 10 years but I didn't employ the more flexible techniques for that reason. A few of my colleagues were that flexible so of course they drifted towards those kinds of techniques. I drifted towards other techniques that didn't require that kind of flexibility. I think you can work your way into being more flexible but only to a certain extent. It's more about body types.

    • @Tentacl
      @Tentacl 5 лет назад

      @@randallt6628 Of course. As in any advanced movement and/or tactic it's the element of surprise that allow you to advance to the "kill" without earlier attempts to deny you the position. More traditional BJJ pratictioners probably take too long to notice they are in danger and only feel it's an awkward position (so they keep trying to smash and advance their own game) and once they understand the steps they will probably accept positional losses to avoid the finish itself.
      It happens with basically every move from your very first day in BJJ. First you leave your arms exposed (and eat arm locks and americanas left and right). Then you start to feel the danger and push your arms (only to be into triagles all day) etc etc.
      Think about other dominant advancements and how they are integrated and are now into a common knowledge pool and everyone knows they gotta train against it. Berimbolo i.e. or Keenan Cornelius style Lapel Guards etc.

    • @randallt6628
      @randallt6628 5 лет назад +1

      So the BJJ world hasn't caught up to the rubber guard yet like they have americanas and triangles? I've definitely noticed that hardly anyone gets caught in a triangle anymore. At least in MMA anyway.
      Rubber guard just looks like something that if you get caught in it, it's too late. What is one supposed to do in that situation? Seems like you need to keep your hands or arms close together. Then maybe stack or slam the guy like Rampage Jackson lol.
      I'm obviously a novice so thank you for your kind reply.

      @@randallt6628 Hey man... I'm a fellow white belt (training for around 9 months now). I live in Brazil and learn under a great coral belt tough. He is not afraid to accept new techniques and encourage us to mix our game a lot (so no nationalism issues for me at all).
      Frankly... I don't know what are the optimal moments to leave this. I watched a Eddy Bravo video warning about the possibility of the oponent escaping the moment you cross your shin to the neck i.e. (and how to turn the whole thing into a regular omoplata if it fails before the invisible collar is in place).
      Usually BJJ techniques aim to force people between two evils and I'm sure there are a lot of traps they use each time someone sees this coming and tries to move. And sure all competitive BJJ school will keep developing attacks and counters. It's very good. Keeps the art from being stale and obsolete like other once great martial arts.

    Is it possible to tear your own knee doing this?

      I personally never had any knee issues playing rubber guard.

    His unique submission technique should have some sort of copyright or else some bullshiddos will claim they were first to do so.

    2:51 I thought this was called a Kung Fu Move?

    • @MrDayday4641
      @MrDayday4641 3 года назад

      Kinda similar in that you're bringing leg around in front of your opponent's face. Kung Fu move would usually be done from Chill Dog. The hand he grabbed his shin with would still be hugging his knee (or grabbing his other foot - double bagging) during Kung Fu move, and the hand he's holding the shoulder with in the Flip move (he had actually already "Fired" to get to mission control) would have been on the near side of the opponent's neck, still in a mission control-type position but on the side closest to the zombied arm, and would facilitate the leg coming around in a circular (kinda Kung Fu style movement) to bring the leg around. You could use that to end up in the Gogo Clinch, just like Jeremiah Vance is here, so similar movement, could be used the same way, but a little different.

    thanking BJJ Trickster is necessary. Its simple to go ' numb' at the Video Creative controls..
    not the case with BJJ Trickster.
    also.. to define Needed Work efforts a persnl History explains.much. the Trickster apparently leads a Dedicated Clean and Spiritual Life as He pursues The ' Holy Grail' of BJJ.
    pray..Clean Living is Won by Blood and Courage.

    Really try even bending your legs that far, I am no where near that flexible !

      It's more flexibility in the hips rather the knees, lotus and butterfly poses can help with this. Thanks for watching

    Is 10th planet overrated yes or no? I see many supporters are zealots so I dont know if its good or just a cult mentality.
