    I own a 000-15M now for about 2.5 years and I love it to death! Very sweet sound that's perfect for playing outside the bedroom when the wife's asleep. I was at the Martin Factory for a tour this summer and spent almost 2 hours playing all the guitars in Martin's Player's Rm. I thought I would go crazy for the sound of the D-18, HD-28, or the 000-28 among many others that were there to play, but Man! I was drawn back to the 000-16 Streetmaster over and over again. I then checked out the Museum for an hour and went back to play the guitars again, and I just Loved the sound of the 000-16 Streetmaster. When I came back to Chicago I played another one at a suburban shop and fell in love all over again. I think this will be my daily driver and eventually and one that I can take with me when traveling. Wife says that I got to sell my Slash LP if I want it, so look for the LP on Sweetwater or Reverb! Haha!

  • @lindyloulie80

    Well, I did it! I went and checked out this 000-16 today. WOWEE!! What a great guitar! It is the canon of the 000’s. It’s tone is fabulous. It can stand toe-to-toe with 000’s three times its price. Even if a player isn’t a great fan of the distressed look, they would be missing out on a fabulous instrument at a great price if they were to reject it because of the look. I personally love the look. Also, I don’t have to worry about it getting beat up at gigs.
    The response to a player’s touch is instantaneous. It is SO resonant and full-sounding that it sounds like a guitar twice its size, and three times its price. The intonation is spot on all the way up the neck. It responds to the player’s touch so well that one can play with a wide variety of dynamics without losing sound quality (timbre). You can hit it hard and it doesn’t collapse. Play softly, and you lose nothing in tone.
    I agree with Cooper that this might just out-sell the very popular 000-15 Street Master once people find out about it and try it out. The only factor that could work against that is the $2K price tag. Some buyers might not find the extra $400 over the 000-15 doesn’t fit their budget. If they pass on this guitar, they are missing out on a fabulous instrument. I have a 000-28 which is fabulous, but I think this 000-16 with its VTS Adirondack top will be my daily driver. It pretty much blows the 000-28 out tone-wise as well as for volume, responsiveness to touch and overall resonance. The VTS Adi top does it for me.

    I'm happy to see the 1-3/4" nut width (45mm) rather than the usual 1/16th narrower, which should help my fingers. 24.9" scale length sounds good, and the Adirondack Spruce top combined with East Indian Rosewood in a US crafted guitar at $1999.00 is a "Wow! Those won't be on the shelf for long" guitar. Sweet demo. too, Cooper. Thank you and the production crew...

I added my own butter bean Waverlys (the golden age tuners are a tad stiff), and bone pins. What a little stunner! Super sharp, punchy & clear. CFM customer service claims that the VTS Adi top is designed to already "sound 15 yrs old", and I agree. Can't put 'er down - and I own 9 the Martins! Best Seller no doubt. Good review Cooper.

    Bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. I went into the store thinking I'd get a 000-15M Streetmaster, but hands down the 000-16 Streetmaster sounded so much better, more resonant, more dynamic range, more versatile across musical styles. And it also knocked the socks off a 000-16E that I demoed, the VTS treatment is well worth the extra $$. The 000-15M Streetmaster still fits a niche well, a rich sound with boosted mids that would be at home on an old 78 rpm early blues record.

      More string separation....more mid range....the 000-28 was more lush with more overtones and the 000-16m was more dry and raw which I really like and prefer. Definitely not for everyone though so you really have to go play and try them out.

I didn’t know about woods or the construction but it played every bit as well as my D35 and the sound is spectacular. I loved the tone and playability of my D35, but I walked out of the shop with the Streetmaster. Btw, it comes with an awesome gig bag. Bought 000-16 1 1/2 years ago. I also have a 000-JCM as well. I bought the -16 to be the every day guitar. After a string lowering setup this guitar became the everything guitar. The JCM stays in the case. Bottom line this guitar plays and sounds as good as the JCM and I don’t have to protect it from getting dinged up. A year and a half later there is significant player wear which means I play it a lot. I take it wherever I go without fear. If it gets stolen it’s a lot easier to replace than a JCM. The 000 body size is bright so when I play with others it pops out. The guitar is light and the sustain is unlike you have ever experienced. It’s the guitar you will always play. Highly recommended.

A side note, the guitar came with med strings and when I first tuned it to pitch the top started to slightly bow. I got some Martin light strings and now there's no bowing. I actually prefer the lighter gauge strings by far. Another great review, thanks.

Adirondack or Red Spruce is a bit more cutting, has better bass and low mids, more sparkle in the treble than the Sitka and goes better with my tenor/ baritone voice. The modern Deluxe has a unique asymmetrical neck profile.

The action is excellent and it sounds especially good tuned a half-step or full-step low in standard and also in Open D. I play a fair amount of blues and playing slide on it in Open D sounds perfect because it reminds me of the sound of many of the early blues greats whose tunes I play and style I’ve adopted. Another great demo from Alamo Music! Love this guitar! I think I’m on my way to guitar store tomorrow to check it out. I have the Martin standard 000-28 and love it, but wish it had an adi top. Love the lively response of Adirondack spruce. Add the VTS, and you have a killer sound. I have the Martin GPC15ME Street Master Special edition with the Matrix VT pickup. I absolutely LOVE that guitar! When I first saw the Street Master aged finish when Martin first came out with it I thought UGH!! Why uglify a perfectly good guitar? I almost let that finish keep me from trying out the GPC. I’m SOOO glad I put my attitude aside and tried the guitar. Believe it or not, I am now a great fan of the finish. What helped was I carefully rubbed it out to a beautiful satin gloss which brought out the beautiful reddish color in the mahogany. I also outfitted it with bone bridge pins and Waverly tuners which are so smooth-operating and easy to fine-tune. The scale on the guitar is perfect and the tone is wonderful across the strings. So now that I’ve discovered this new 000-16 in Adirondack VTS top and rosewood back and sides, and after listening to Cooper playing it, I can’t hold back. Can’t wait to check it out! Cooper, you’ve gotten me into trouble again! I should ban myself from watching Alamo’s RUclips guitar demo videos!

    • @lindyloulie80
      @lindyloulie80 Год назад

      @@richieqin914 Hi. The 000-16 Street master is fantastic. The VTS Adirondack top is super responsive. The sound jumps out of the guitar with very little effort from the player. The 000-28 standard is a wonderful guitar which is also responsive, but not as loud, bright and resonant as the 000-16. I'd say the 000-28 is more refined with a warmer sound, and of course very much more refined in terms of overall finish. The 000-16 Street master is a great alternative for those who don't have the coin for the 000-28 or an OM-28. Oh, and BTW, there is a big difference between the two instruments in that the 000-28 is a 24.9" short scale vs 25.4" standard length scale on the 000-16SM. The shorter scale is easier on the fretting hand because the strings are a bit slinkier with less tension. Makes it easier to bend notes. The shorter scale also generally makes for a warmer tone. So between the standard scale length and the adi top, the 000-16SM is brighter. I would say that a better comparison would be to put the 000-16SM against the OM-28. That would be a closer comparison. Hope this helps.

      I just bought one 3 weeks ago too; and love it more each day. It was my first Martin, and have wanted one for 20 years, so hard decision as to which one to buy. My action seems to have raised a bit since i got it, so bringing it to a luthier. But yes, fantastic guitar. I play fingerpicking/old country blues style like Mississippi John Hurt (but far from his skill). What kind of music you play on yours? Also, is there any "con" that you don't like 100% about it?

    I watched this video when it came out and I watched it again a few minutes ago. And it got me thinking, because I love the looks of these things and I’m still not sure if I should go for the 000-15m Streetmaster, or the 000-16 Streetmaster. Because every time I hear a guitar with an Adirondack VTS top it sounds immediately better than its equivalent with a regular spruce top. However…, I prefer the sound of guitars with a mahogany back and sides over guitars with rosewood back and sides.
    Now wouldn’t it be great to have a third option? The option to have a 000, or an OM in the Streetmaster look, with an Adirondack VTS top and mahogany back and sides? The fingerboard and bridge could be either rosewood or ebony. You would basically have a 000-17 Streetmaster with a luxurious top at the same price point as these guitars.
    I know I would order one the moment they come out. ❤
