Brainstorm: Playable Zelda!

Most of the time when I make my videos it is with a general attitude of "I don't think this will ever actually happen, but I sure would love to see it happen!"
This is not one of those times. Getting Zelda a playable role in her series is not only something I want to see happen, it's also something that I would argue should have happened a long time ago. It genuinely bothers me that it hasn't! The way this series is set up, the entire lore of the franchise, is perfectly set up for both Zelda and Link to be playable in some form. There have been so many good chances too, from Sheik to Tetra, Zelda's journey in Skyward Sword or her Phantom possession in Spirit Tracks (Side note: Easily my favorite inclusion of the character), there is so much raw material to use and the series does absolutely nothing with it!
I think that's why this is my favorite concept that I've made. Unmet potential is frustrating to see, but it also provides a near limitless supply of possibilities that make my imagination run wild. I have seen so many different interpretations of how Zelda could be given a playable role, and I have never seen one I dislike. There's soooooo much that could be done with the character, all Nintendo needs to do is take the risk and give her the chance to let her greatness emerge!
I used a Zelda mod to showcase a few examples in the video. I'm not going to fully credit the people who made it as, well, there's an awful lot of them, it's quite an expansive project, an impressively well made one at that! But I will link one of their showcases here, and I would highly recommend people check it out!

And now I suppose I cross my fingers and wait. Thankfully I was able to finish this before E3, I feel like this is the closest the series has ever been to Zelda being playable and I'd love to be at least SOMEWHAT vindicated. And... like, I don't actually believe that my specific interpretation will ever, ever happen... but just IMAGINE if it did. I might retire from the website then and there, there's no way I'd be able to top it.
Ah well, either way hopefully Zelda gets the role she deserves soon!
