    Did they have any scent?
    So so many flowers what an amazing display of cactus flowers so far this season.🌞🌵👍
    You helped me clarify the identity for one of my cactus plants which I was speculating could be a Chamaelobivia for ages it looks so 'different' to all my other cactus and has a funny way of growing and sprouting! 😆
    Thank you Lyn 👍🌵🌞😎

    • @desertplantsofavalon
      @desertplantsofavalon  4 года назад +1

      Thats fantastic new that you was able to ID one of your cacti as a Chamaelobivia, they are amazing with how they grow with their sprouting new little 'arms' and are gorgeous cacti to grow, This season has been the best ever for the flowering, and I think the good sunny spring sunshine we had in UK and Ireland has really given them the boost they needed, especially after last years washout summer haha, yes some of the flowers have a nice scent a bit like Neroli orange blossom, but this Chamaelobivia has a scent a bit like fresh earth oil not bad but not that nice either LOL! thanks so much Claire for your wonderful support and amazing comments and for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful afternoon XXXX

    I picked up an 8” pot labeled as a chamaelobivia hybrid this spring because it was full of dead blooms and new buds. I repotted it immediately and it has been in continuous super bloom for the last 4weeks in between our thunderstorms . Mine has brilliant red flowers smaller than yours. About 1.5”. The cactus is the same size. I was picking off dead blooms and found lots of fruit with seeds! The bees have been busy! And your rebutia! Wow!

    Don't have any of these, but they do look like some sort of Echinopsis or even a Pygmaeocereus. Another of these floriferous cacti that will produce marvellous blooms for an extended time.
    Another poor week of weather down here has ensured any further bud development has ground to a halt for the moment, until conditions improve. It's been mostly white cloud and a fine spray of falling mist.
    I'm hoping for more blooms over the next three months, but my cacti are the hard desert types so it depends on the weather. The floriferous types like these though will still bloom even if overcast.

    • @desertplantsofavalon
      @desertplantsofavalon  4 года назад +1

      The weather has been so awful here too the last few days and today its dark grey cloud and that horrible drizzle weather, and the buds on our Astros are sitting still, I always worry that they will drop off if the sunless weather continues, its gone from blistering heat and sunshine to grey damp and chilly weather, oh the joys of living in our climate in UK and Ireland LOL! yes thankfully the floriferous types are still opening their flowers today even in this dark weather, some more of the Rebutias have started blooming today, thanks so much James for your wonderful support and amazing comments and for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Somerset for a wonderful afternoon XXXX
