For the longest this is what I wanted for Mariah, loved her old vocals but she didn't have to be the old Mariah. As she aged her voiced aged as well and she tried so hard, or people wanted the same Mariah (I also know of her nodules). This is a great example of why she had to change, she sounds so good without trying to fight for what her vocals used to be and stepping into what they are now ❤. I am not the biggest fan of her, but fans who say she sounds the same or hasn't changed, are wrong, and are denying her vocals/voice the grace and beauty that comes with age and change. EDIT: TO TOP IT OFF, Im feeling the lyrics are about her vocal journey and how she wanted it back to what it was (Not the meaning of the lyrics but with what I previously wrote, it is the vibes it gives).
