Family Matters breakdown still on the way, just thought it would be cool to take a look at some of the history behind this beef for those tryna figure out how tf we got here like me. thanks for watching and lmk what videos you'd wanna see next down below
Am I wrong to think Family Matters actually hints at what Kendrick was going to do next? Particularly the third verse. That track has been overlooked but there's a lot of bars in there that put things into context. Excited for when the review video drops. You do such a good job with break downs.
@@pearlfountain that third verse is a ticking time bomb. I was rooting for Kendrick but seeing how this turned into a politicised battle being run by the internet's Moral Police I have it at a tie currently. Kendrick as the better emcee for this specific moment (the battle) and Drake just putting a stamp on him being the best rapper in this generation and for the duration of the battle. I'm actually playing more of the Drake tracks than Kendrick's in this battle. Shout out to you Pearl Fountain. I'ma let you work your magic with the videos now. 💯💥
@@Muntw.2.0I like that take. You made a solid case. I’m admittedly biased, and likely seeking this kind of validation. I’m playing the Drake records mostly too, but appreciating Dots even more over time. Everyone has really discounted Drakes use of multi-media in my estimation. Maybe they just gadgets and tricks, but I like magic, and I like tricks. Prolly cause I’m a Drake type
I understand it from both perspectives kendrick was clout chasing no matter how you wanna spin it but at the same time drake should have just went at him especially earlier in his career when he was still hungry
@@lavante8157 if you think he was "clout chasing" you need to freshen up on hiphop history. rappers have always done things that raise the competitive nature of the genre. why do you think everyone always say they are the best in the genre?
I've had this thought for a while now. If you take to pimp and butterfly and Mr. Morale, they were like his heros journey leading up to his finale battle with Drake. In the hero's journey, the main character takes his journey to fight the main villain or the dragon. But before he could defeat the dragon, he must defeat the dragon within. To pimp a butterfly and Mr. Morale is the eternal fight, and at the end of Mr. Moral, before the final track, you hear a woman say you did it, and he then says, "I choose me." I think this was years in the making.
I always enjoy your content bro. Its so good that hearing you say you been on this grind for the 7 years is very inspiring. I'm happy to have been here before you get to 100 cause after that 1 mil is nothing. Thanks for the great work.
Great content. The algorhythm does you no justice. You should be way bigger. In due time. Truth tellers always get the short of the stick. Keep up the great work! Great eye for detail. 💯
Wait, hold on, y’all need to leave El DeBarge out of this. if you do your research, El DeBarge was likethat. 😂 low-key he’s more street than both Dot and Drake
I immediately thought ‘God’ was a clear satirical mocking of Drake when I first heard it. I’ve never heard it confirmed by anyone else until now. Great stuff!!
I’m about to cover that and Drakes parody of it in my family matters breakdown this weekend, it’s really interesting in the context of how this beef started though fs
I remember when I first heard “Language” I knew he was talking about Kendrick. But I was confused about it because they just did Poetic Justice a year prior.
i think its good to look at how baby keem is involved in their relationship. keem has said some things abt drake and has collaborated w kendrick on family ties and the hillbillies which are both drake disses
Don’t forget ‘buried alive’ by Kendrick. Off of drakes album. It’s crazy, it’s a diss Kendrick sent him after they met up that he decided to put it on his album for whatever reason. Sent an interesting prequel to this all. It’s off take care, labeled as an interlude
Yessir I’ll be covering that in my Family Matters breakdown later this weekend, since Drake parodied it to accompany that song. Really interesting narrative in that one
Like a job straight out of highschool it ain't no U and I (Kendrick Lamar song titles and University) I taught you everything you know now you've got student pride( DAMN reference).
You should of mentioned how Kendrick told him not to apologize and at the end of the beef Drake did just that ran to his record label to get Kendrick to stop
I want you to dive into blow my high(memebers only) what does Kendrick know about Aaliyah? The song is a sample of big pimpin by jay z. The first line “taking off while you landing” alludes to the plane crash where Aaliyah dies under sus circumstances. Also the lines” wonder what’s behind them ray bans , eyes of a coward I understand” is this a reference to Stevie wonder. It’s further supported by the line” put a ribbon in the sky and a button on my lips don’t blow my high” ribbon in the sky like the song but also maybe like the smoke off the edge of a blunt. Button on my lips meaning a secret obviously. All these allegation swirling around diddy, drake, jay z. Seems like Kendrick knows something for a very long time. Rip Aaliyah
He saw Drake do some compromising stuff at the beginning of their careers. Kendrick does not morally understand how he can do the things he has done and not have any remorse….. Kendrick pens in the song poetic justice that he codes his lyrics so the industry can keep him on the radio so he can keep pushing music that is for the “culture” . He also says he has to do industry things to fit in but he isn’t doing it for the same reasons as Drake.
Has anyone noticed he named the song family matters a week before Jaleel White married a silicone valley tech executive crazy coincidence that’s white erkel from the show family matters married a white woman who thinks this isn’t a coincidence

In the song Element on Damn by Kendrick hes clearly talking about Drake imo
Bro facts i just felt like I should dedicate this video to songs people don’t really mention as much in this beef
@@pearlfountain I feel you bro. I think he's also talking about Big Sean on that track as well
Big Sean 😂
@@editnosmirc4489 Have you heard the Element OG version that leaked last year? He was definitely talking about Big Sean! Haha
King’s dead too go back and listen to the hook !
I think everyone, drake Dan's kdot fans and neutral can agree, that the control verse was not a diss and drake took it way too personal.
I understand it from both perspectives kendrick was clout chasing no matter how you wanna spin it but at the same time drake should have just went at him especially earlier in his career when he was still hungry

One of the best videos ive seen on this beef by far. Good job my guy!
I agree. Stuff I actually haven't seen anywhere else.
Check out whats the dirt
God being a secret drake diss is the biggest lore drop of this beef to me
I always hated that song so if he really intended it as a tongue in cheek homage to Drake it's the single greatest diss track of all time
@@Eilfylijokul ong its the only track in the entire album which i have not hearted xd
What about savior from mr morale & the big steppers?

I always look forward to watching your breakdowns. Great work as always and you've earned a sub.
One of my favorite songs from Kendrick is an old one called “Determined” in the song he literally name drops Drake and Cole.🔥
Good history breakdown of this beef that i have never caught, i knew it never really felt off when Kendrick and Drake got heated up since Like That
I just found your channel last week LOVE IT im heavily invested in this beef lmao
You just earned yourself a new subscriber! Great video!
Thanks for watching bro
Yes same here
Goated video as always
Buried alive was lowkey an unintentional diss track.
great analysis, no bullshit filler, good editing. subbed👍
Euphoria felt like it had a subtle Control jab with that core fan reference popping up again 😂😂 i was like wait...13 year bar!? 😅
I love the bar break downs keep it up dude, Alone with J-cole and Kendrick you are bring me back to hip hop
You definitely missed a few. One that always stood out to me is on the TDE BET cypher from 2013.
Everyone knows about that one tho this was covering ones that weren’t so obvious
I always knew we could trust Obama 🤣
Bro didn’t even hesitate to
wow really adds so much more depth to an already immense beef
Good shit man good break down I like it keep it going

The greatest rap battle that ever brewed

That King Kunta performance was a deep pull but I respect it
And I subscribed right around the time when you mentioned you reached 100k, kundos! But what's the phenomenon called that keeps happening?!!
Dense coins? Idk
Peace and Love from Rhode Island
No way
well well well
Thanks for the research.
Forgot to mention “deep water” featuring Kendrick by Dr. Dre which was a drake diss
Like a job straight out of highschool it ain't no U and I (Kendrick Lamar song titles and University) I taught you everything you know now you've got student pride( DAMN reference).
I wish ESPN would drop the interview. So we can see what really started it.
Should deff do one on Mr. Morale too
This the most drawn out beef ever sheesh
A lot of these guys best bars have always been about/at each other 😂
What’s the song playing in the background at 0:17
Heart part 4 by kendrick
When is a break down for family matters coming out😊
just realised u THE MF WHO MADE THAT DEAN BLUNT DOCUMENTARY😭😭😭😭 U REALLY BLEW UP
Lmfaooooo real one right here. I wanna get back to making shit like that soon
What about You ain’t gotta lie? I feel like that was a foreshadowing of this exact moment.
Please analyze Kendrick’s verse in All the Stars

Tpab is a whole drake diss💀
King's Dead sounds aimed at Drake too... "you are not a gang member you a tourist"
Also King's dead... king of pop Mike? = drake?
I feel you but do u think Future was dissing Drake that far back?? They’ve made so many records together since
Kanye said that Kendrick helped with mapping out a flow for All Day. He didn’t write it, that was a group effort
The Heart Part 4 has alot of BIG sean disses that you've misinterpreted as kendrick shots. Mainly becsuse they applied perfectly to him and not Drake
rich spirit is so clearly a drake diss that just went over everyone head lol
King of diss tracks. You have Kendrick we have Chip.
Drake's last diss showed he should have listened to Kendrick's songs a little closer, cause he was playing with Kung Fu Himmy.
All the stars sounds way different now.
underrated
Can’t forget DNA as well
AMAZING BREAKDOWN, also thank the heavens you got a new mic lmaoooooo
You forgot to mention “America has a problem” Beyoncé ft Kendrick Lamar. Those bars are against Drake
All the stars. There are plenty.humble
Name: Summer
Age: 16
Can't believe all this went over my head. Kinda glad I don't listen that closely lol
I see nobody mentioning that Rich spirit is a clear dig at Drake. He even says "b*tch you arguing with obama, Go and get them Kids"
What’s that song called
Drake should stick to Kiki and Hotline Bling like stuff. He's good at that kind of songs.
Drake's got more green in envy than he does in cash.
Good video , however for drake side it’s automatically discredited since those nice bars were not written by him.
You missed his verse on All The Stars
Wow, good analogy
Yo if i was Drake I'd take that Rico Suave as a compliment
Yoo Kendrick is a genius fr damn crazy
I always knew drake was going to get cooked after the control verse.
Cant forget double life
Did you include the whole song there’s a problem in America?
hillbillies is also a secret diss
Just wenna say you good!
bro drake fricking flashed us on stream why would you not take kendricks side
Revist Mr. Morale
All the stars?
Do you even know what getting RICO’ed means? Diddy didn’t get RICO’d. Tekashi and Thug did
