In 1971, Great Gorge expanded to become Great Gorge North. By adding the new peak, Vernon Valley Ski Resort was opened. Eventually, the two resorts merged to create a three peak super resort that started offering summer water park actives. In 2015, the Koffman family became the sole owners of Mountain Creek Resort.
