Experience has personally taught me these facts about the S&W Governor: Loaded with the proper 410 shotgun load, I can take out small critters within 10 yards; Loaded with .45 ACP, I can achieve a tight grouping within 10 yards; Loaded with .45 Colt, I can achieve a good tight grouping at 50 yards. So, 50 yards is my accurate kill range. I am a senior citizen big game hunter, so I carry my Governor as my personal sell-defense weapon at close range. Can I kill a bear? Yes! I can quick kill a bear (Black Bear or Grizzly) up to a certain poundage using .45 Colt. I can kill a much larger bear with a well placed shot using .45 Colt. I strictly use solid metal jacket ammo do to the Hallow Point's inability for proper penetration. In my opinion; the S&W Governor is a survivalist's best friend. Because of the punishing recoil, a .44 magnum is not my choice for a self-defense gun, and I am a big man. I like a revolver because of it's simplicity and there are no jamming issues in a real life scenario. I hope this helps you!
I just happened on to your video. No BS, no this is what everyone else thinks about the gun. Just facts and very well informed video. I appreciate that bud. I’m glad to have found your channel.
3 Federal 410 2 1/2 000 buckshot followed by 3 Winchester .45 Colt...The Federal pellets stay together like The Blue Angels out to about 20 feet....Governor weighs 29 ounces...Safer and conceals just as easy as a 1911...but at the end of day, personal preference..
The Federal Premium .410 000 buckshot has 4 balls. It also maintains a very tight group at distances of 18 ft. or closer. I've tested it a few times at the range. This is good if you have to defend against a home intruder situation. My Governor also has a laser sight.
Love my black one. It’s a hoot at the range, put the crimson trace laser grip on it (takes a k frame grip) and the Hogue extended cylinder release. Cylinder gets gummed up pretty quick if you’re shooting different ammo types and it helps to get it open easier. It’s not the first thing I’d pick up but it’s not exclusively a novelty either, Hornady Critical Defense .410 is devastating out of these things
I really like this gun. I don't know if I could shoot it successfully due to aging hands and wrists, but I think having a pistol that will shoot 410 shotgun shells is pretty brilliant.
Hello, and thank you for the review. This is February of 2024, and I just started researching hand guns for home defense. I saw a couple of reviews of the Taurus Judge last week, and this is the first review of the S&W Governor I've seen so far. As far as the Moon Clips, I've seen two manufacturers, TK Custom and Speed Beez, listed as suppliers of the clips. The Speed Beez seem to be a preferred choice from the comments I've read in the other review videos. And the Speed Beez include a tool that lets you easily remove the spent shell casings from the clips. As mentioned here, the pricing is quite a bit different between the standard Judge and the Governor. There are multiple versions of the Taurus Judge guns, but the standard Judge runs about $565, while the Governor has two prices. The silver model runs about $940, and the black model runs about $1,000.
I would get the silver version with a raw aluminum frame and stainless steel raw brushed cylinder. And I would buy a tritium front sight to replace the sight it comes with.
I want a Governor so badly, such a cool gun. And I don't have any Dirty Harry fantasies or anything, but I'd imagine it's not a particularly pleasant pistol to have pointed at you 🤣

Welcome back Allen!!
Can’t wait for “The President” from Ruger

I appreciate you breaking it all down to be simple and concise, definitely helped me fully understand a few things I didn't know.

Always love your presentations; concise and informative. Thanks!

Can’t be that many pistols out there that can carry three sizes of ammo at the same time. Very interesting!
Taurus 692 (comes w/ two cylinders
357mag/38spc/9mm
Taurus Raging Judge 513
45LC/410/454 casull
Excellent review! Thanks for posting this
Federal handgun buckshot is incredible for this platform
Another great video. Thanks!
Great video. Ty for sharing.
TK Custom makes stainless steel moon clips and unloaders as well as loading tools.
Mine broke after 26 shots, no return phone call after a month. Don't beleive in s&w quality anymore.
Love these guns 💪
Wow ! Love that gun.
Great video! I want one!

😮MIL Thunder 5 pre dates Taurus Judge but never gets the credit/blame. Lol. Great straight forward run down of the Governor.
I own The Governor and $16,800
of Weapons for my Protection.
They are great snake guns
If you shoot 45 acp without moon clips can you get casings out without needing a gunsmith (for example, push out with a screwdriver)?
You can't shoot .45 acp without moonclips. It's a rimless cartridge, it will not stay in place and slide down the chamber.
I wonder why the Chrome colored gun doesn't come with the night sight
Had one sold it. If I ever run acrossed one for $400 or so I'll pick it back up.
No way man they cost over $900
@@big4kt paid 700 sold it for 500
Got mine for 600 and kept it since
First thing i lose are those clips
So the governor cannot shoot 454 ammo
NO!!!✌️
...and .45 GAP
Good Ole Judge is on my wish list. Great versatile gun. #jakehunter88
