How would you improve this kitchen as it is?

      Great question!
      Looking forward to Daniels answer!
Personally, I would take some cups and put the cutlery in them with the handle down. And put the cups on the table. That's where they are generally needed, at the table. The table looks large enough for a section of it to act as a "tools area" and still comfortably seat the whole family.
For the cups to look more visually organised I would put the cups on a tray or a kitchen towel. Basically the same method used by interior designers placing an area rug.
Then there are two open shelves and a decent counter top area. I would remove plants, books and everything else that is not functional. Then use that space for the most frequently used items. Like plates, glasses, one frying pan, one saucepan, etc.
Post-its or similar could be used to temporary label drawers. Maybe a small bit of tape for it to not fly off.
Now, depending on how hardcore you want to go. The kitchen drawers with the nice looking dark wood could perhaps be removed in a non destructive way. That would remove two motions each time opening one drawer. Drawback is that they would have to be stored somewhere.
