When the margins are so thin you can't afford to give a crucial player umpteen games to simply get up to speed. It took him several games to get going to begin with and he's currently not going yet after 2/3 games. So we're talking 7 games + of a season where a starter is ineffectual simply due to getting up to speed. Celtic have drawn twice & lost once this season so far I personally want Mooy to be here next season but I do get why folk are concerned.
As always they have no faith in their players , I think it’s called selective memory….When they play well, the rally behind the teams, when they play badly, the fans become delusional…😊😊 And talk crap🎉
Let’s be real here, mooys had a lot more than 1 bad performance, his bad performances outweigh his good performances, he had a couple good games after the World Cup apart from that he’s been rank rotten to say the least, I hope he kicks on and proves me wrong but honestly I can’t see it he’s too slow for that Celtic team, invites pressure and just slows down the play. Again I hope he proves me wrong.
The admission that we don’t practice set pieces puzzles me. From my perspective we’re simultaneously vulnerable and toothless from dead ball situations. Hopefully something that’s looked into over the summer or we’re likely to continue to suffer in those scenarios.
Great pod as always lads. I Googled Police Scotland. 23k officers. They are wildly outnumbered if it kicks off all around the country or even just in Glasgow. This is why they are nervous. The game on Saturday we had a decent first half, came on after HT and we looked better then it just kind of went flat. All season we have had a spark and this week it was in the physio room instead of the XI or the bench. I wrote off the Sevco game as a win for them and got a WhatsApp message from my cousin, shout out to Julie, WOW! Went from a low to elation. Isn't football grand? Hope we pump that lot next week and in the dead rubber... and at tiddly winks, golf, hula hoops, in the charts, at the 100 metres, the largest marrow, the egg and spoon race etc etc. If we get a fit Jota, Hatate and Abada, or any combo of 2 or more of the above, and I think we are more than good enough to beat them. probably good enough without them too, just need a better performance than Saturday. Think this summer, assuming no one leaves that we'd miss, we need: -a player comparable with Hatate to back him up, -if Bernabei doesn't start meeting his potential a LB, -a RW (too many LW filling in out of position) and a 3rd striker. Forrest isn't good enough anymore, Abada might leave then you're down to LWs out of position. -if I'm greedy a European level GK. Love Hart but the step up might be too bit a step at his stage of his career. -think Welsh is pushed off the ball too easily too actually. I cannot believe how much I have to argue for a 3rd striker. The evidence since Ange came in is... ahem...striking. GG took 6 months to settle meaning Kyogo ran himself into the ground then the second half we had an unavailable Kyogo and GG pushing through. This season the pattern continues. Oh is still settling, 4 months in, so our goals are coming almost exclusively from Kyogo. You need a star and 2 guys of the same standard keeping each other on their toes. Last season the number of hammy injuries was insane. Then there are suspensions, knocks, loss of form, absences due to international football or life stuff like attending the birth of their first baby (GG last season). Look at the lineups and/or the context around every time we dropped points last year. It was with no fit out and out striker, or one, or post winning the title, or both recently back from long lay-offs etc. We do get goals from all over but an out and out striker allows that by being a big enough threat to create space for a Haksa or O'Riley wonder strike. My ideal for next season (well, assuming we cannot afford to buy whoever wins the UCL's entire squad...which I very much assume): Jota Kyogo Abada Maeda Oh A.N Other Haksabanovic A.N Other Hatate O'Riley A.N Other Mooy McGregor Iwata Taylor Starfelt CCV AJ Bernabei Kobayashi A.N Other Ralston or A.N Other Hart A.N Other Move on McCarthy (not good enough), Turnbull (good player at SPFL Prem level but too slow), Welsh (not strong enough), Bain, Hazard (for both: who?!) and of the 12 loan Bhoys, well I don't know a lot about the youth players but I imagine not a lot of change from that group. Up to 16 wages cut, might add up to 1 more decent level addition. I know there is talk about Abada leaving but 'La-la-la, I'm not listening'. I'd stick with Bernabei and Hart if the money spreads too thin. Rather have 3 quality signings instead of 5 OK ones. Heard people talk about Moussa Dembele is available on a free, if I thought he would come back I'd jump at it but I suspect he wouldn't AND he'd be too expensive wage-wise. Cracking player just is out a lot due to minor injury issues. Recently we have finished a couple of games with 2 strikers, maybe Ange is thinking about going 3-5-2? As a MON fan, exciting. HH
Too passive recently, I don’t understand why no one wants to have a shot at goal. When trying to pass it into the net when Motherwell sit 10 men in a box a felt we needed someone to try take a shot outside the box which no one wanted to do
Great show guys. Motherwell were embarrassing indeed but there is a part of my mind that just wants Celtic to do it back to them. Next time we play, once Celtic go a couple goals up, the players should just start falling down and stamping their feet to heal their injuries for 5 minutes. Stopping play to tie shoe laces etc. Just out of pettiness. 🤷♂️
OH missing that header - Im not saying that OH has been terrible, but he is YET to show he can really improve our team in the way we need. It's still early, but time is ticking.
Great show as always lads, the banter on the overlap was great craic to,tik tok todd 😂 only recently subscribed, gotta say one of my fav pods now, great work 🙂
Why does Ange persist with Maeda on the left and not on the right when he only goes one way, down the line. Jota and Haksa clearly look stronger on the left but always have to accommodate Maeda
In fairness to gamesmanship, Celtic and Scotland do it too…. It’s amazing that it only ever happens to the teams that want the time to run down… teams that want to get back into the game never take ages to get up. They should just stop the clock, like in rugby, and it will stop..
Haksa is clearly a left wing and attacking midfield player, I don't think it's fair to judge him on his performance in a completely different position. Not everyone can play on both sides and that's completely fine. I'd far prefer to see him play in the 10 position for a couple of games where he can utilise his vision and tight-space trickery
Quick look back, our last convincing 90 min performance (where we controlled the game) was 11th March at Tynecastle. Apart from 27 fun minutes against a Killie pub team, our level has dropped. Greg Taylor worried me against Killie and sure enough, he melted against Van Veen. Its been an incredible season but its starting to show through injuries and energy levels. The spine of the team is all we have left (CCV, Calmac, Kyogo). Even Maeda has run out of steam, which looked impossible a few weeks ago. Its all about who wants it more on Sunday and I hate to say it, Beale's beelers are desperate. They will scrap and roll around like Motherwell and get dead ball chances. It might even go to pens. I wont be able to watch a shootout, not because we cant take (or save) penalties but because Oh's run up is pure hopscotch. I just cant watch that again. Prediction: they wont win, we will lose, to coin a phrase thats popular these days. Hail Hail. A return to form at Tyncastle will win us the league. Job done and party on.
Two things I find rather bizarre on the set pieces issue. One is obvious, in that they don't practice them. Dunno why this would (continue) to be the case given that it's been a weakness. Two is why state that you don't publicly? There doesn't seem to be any benefit to doing so.
To many sideway passes. Kyogo making great runs no one seeing the pass . No wingers hitting the byline for cut backs. Hatate is a must against the Rangers here’s hoping. What a miss from Oh by the way so bad .
Scales has technically won us the title with a crossed shot. He had no intention of crossing. What a goal. Do we bring him back for 6 months? Jan dealings make decision?
@@20MinuteTims I think there is place for him in the squad. Rotation will be needed next season. One each at Killie with minutes to go; and Scales puts a ball in like that 😁
I said last week I would be subscribing as it was 3 strong episodes on the bounce, and 4 strong episodes would be too much to not subscribe as you 3 would deserve it Sad to inform Phil wasn’t impressed Stephen (unusually) was completely off his game, just like Celtic hopefully just an off day Jamie (Jesus) the advert needs sorted, it’s disturbing, please be more mature and treat the audience with respect Phil’s favourite pundit - Martin Melly Phil’s score last week - 7.9/10 Phil’s score this week - 5.1/10 Cheers Phil
On Beale remember he helped GVB get sacked while GVB was still in the job by visiting loyalist boozers and thereby piling the pressure on the guy. Who does that? And as a player you look at that and think I can't trust that guy. Also, he up to his knees in the Wilmott Brown stuff if he loses that semi final hence all the deflection and inventing bogus reasons for league performance.

It is incredible how quickly Celtic fans have jumped off Mooy. He had one bad game returning from injury (clearly unfit).
Fickle and short term memories for sure

Emotional roller coaster! From disappointment to elation! Took me a wee bit of time to realise that the highlights of Aberdeen's win was not a hoax!
Well done on overlap as well. Loved Jamie’s comment “celtics players are all better “

Taylor should never be left one on one in defence at least 2 at the back at all times it was junior team defending hope we learn from it .
Bhoys you represented the Celtic brilliantly on the overlap HH
Thank you for the kind words. Appreciate that. It was fun to do.

Roger that
Oriley is not pulling up any trees, lacks physicality and loses the ball too often in the tackle!
