They didn't get a lot of credit because they were like by People of Color. Unlike Elvis, the " All that Black people can do is buy my records," wasn't falsely put out. Some People of Color actually believed that lie, but Elvis already had his fan base.

I hate auto tuned vocals, they have a really annoying buzzy sound to them. Really Any music before the 90s had clean natural sounding vocals and actual interesting song structure and none of that soul-less comouterised trash thats around these days. Like songs back then actually sound like they had effort put into making them

Have to disagree there though I suppose it really is a matter of taste. This has more of a gospel feel with the constant organ background. Daryl’s vocals are amazing of course. Paul Young’s version is just a work of art. Everything comes together the bridges, the bass, the piano and of course Young’s equally brilliant vocals. Daryl Hall sure is an amazing song writer in addition to a great musician and vocalist. Big fan.

    [Verse 1]
Babe, if we can't solve any problems
Why do we lose so many tears?
    Whoa, so you go again
    When the leading man appears
    [Pre-Chorus 1]
    Always the same thing
But can't you see we've got everything
Going on and on and on?
    [Chorus 1]
    And everytime you go away
You take a piece of me with you
    And everytime you go away
You take a piece of me with you, you
    [Verse 2]
    Go on and go free
Maybe you're too close to see
I can feel your body move
But doesn't mean that much to me
    [Pre-Chorus 2]
I can't go on singing the same theme
'Cause you can't see we've got everything
    Baby, even though you know
    [Chorus 2]
    That everytime you go away
You take a piece of me with you
You just don't care, everytime you go away
You take a piece of me with you, you
    [Outro]
'Cause you can't see we've got everything
    Baby, even though you know
    That everytime you go away
    (Everytime you go away)
    (Everytime you go away)
Why you have to go away right now?
    (Everytime you go away)
    (Everytime you go away)
Go on and go away, girl
    (Everytime you go away)
I don't understand why you gotta go, girl
    (Everytime you go away)
    Go on and go free
Even though you mean so much to me
    (Everytime you go away)
    I don't understand, baby
    (Everytime you go away)
Oh baby, baby, everytime you go
    (Everytime you go away)
You don't know, you don't know
    Because you never understand, girl
    (Everytime you go away)
Why you have to go away right now?
    (Everytime you go away)
    Everytime you go, girl
    (Everytime you go away)
Go on, go on and go free
    (Everytime you go away)
Baby, you mean so much to me
I'll never understand why you gotta go, girl
    (Everytime you go away)
    I don't understand, girl
    (Everytime you go away)
    I don't know go, I don't know go
    I don't know go, I don't know go
    I don't know go, I don't know go
    (Everytime you go away)
Go girl, go girl, gotta go girl
    You won, babe
    (Everytime you go away)
    Baby, baby, baby
    (Everytime you go away)
