Should You Change Anode Rod?

- Most 4O to 60 Gallon Electric Water Heaters have a sacrificial anode rod that protects the inside of the tank from corrosion. Made of Aluminum or Magnesium these rods attract minerals in the water that would normally attack the inner tank therefore prolonging the life of the tank. Having the rod changed by a professional or changing it yourself is in my opinion the best preventative maintenance you can do for your water heater. #plumbing #viral #maintenance

WOW mine has never been changed and it over 8 years old.
I got you beat. Mine will be 32 years in November and never changed.
@@PhillipDavis830did you change it??
I'd better check mine. Replaced the HWT probably 15 years ago. Oops! 😮
WD40 into the water supply? 🤔
@@hh-jy1ld l wouldn’t use it on cold water fittings but very little WD40 was used to free up the threads & this was for hot water supply so possibly a few drops makes it into the Hot water supply & would be so diluted it wouldn’t hurt anything.
Canadian EH?!
Replace with a powered anode rod.
Why. I see them advertised but it seems gimiky so if you could drop some knowledge on how they are better. Thanks in advance.
