I have heard it before. I've always thought they should've kept trying to get them out. Maybe they could've got there in time with 16 days. They didn't know they would survive so long, true, but you just try.
Can you imagine having to be put into a situation where you have to perform an operation on yourself although he clearly knew what he was doing but its still a huge risk job to take on yourself even if you're an experienced doctor.

Regarding Koko the gorilla, everyone who's interested should go watch "Why Koko (Probably) Couldn't Talk (Sorry)". It is a RUclips video, but at a length and depth of research that makes it basically a documentary on human-ape communication. And yes, the conclusion is that Koko couldn't talk, nor can any gorilla or chimp be taught language. Koko specifically knew some hand signs, sure, but was greatly manipulated and interpreted by her keeper, who's... quite the character.
When I was 11 or 12, I had a bad concussion where I hit the back of my head on the ground. I remember only the time leading up to the accident, then just flashes of being carried by my arms to my grandparents house across the street and the paramedics telling me to stay awake. I don't remember the ambulance ride, hospital or even the CT scan. Thankfully I was with my brother and a couple of friends when it happened. Since then my brain sits crooked in the skull

21:20 "Witch-hunting was widespread and claimed the lives of thousands of people, primarily women" You got a source for that? Or are we just going by the old "Meteor to hit earth, wamin most affected"?
Well, Mr. Narrator, as a writer I have some major pet peeves about some of your grammar & vocabulary & I was just about to rip you a new "communication ventilation shaft" when I found this... "disorientated" /disˈôrēənˌtādəd/ adjective [BRITISH]- having lost one's sense of direction (or as we say in American English: disoriented); confused and unable to think clearly." So, you're forgiven, this time, for being BRITISH!!) Use your pass wisely. 😂 I'm just teasing, of course! And I know in Europe they prefer French to be your second language in high school, but, over here, across the pond, it's Spanish. (Which, actually would make sense for you guys, too, considering that SPAIN is where our versions of Spanish came from.) So, a helpful little note for you is that "Cartagena" isn't pronounced "cart-uh-jeenuh" but actually "cart-uh-hayn-uh" bcuz the "g" should be pronounced as an "h". Honestly, though, I learned how to pronounce it from watching "Romancing the Stone" and I'm pretty sure you're too young to remember that movie! 😂 Anyway, I hope that helps you in your future narratives. On the bright side, at least you can use the "I'm British" excuse. I'm just OCD and annoying, and there's no fixing that! 🤣
Christ get over yourself. This is a very obnoxious thing to say but I suppose you're forgiven since you are AMERICAN and don't know any better. But just so you know AMERICAN spelling is not correct at all.
How did she eat? She must've had an income and someone had to have taken care of her. I can't imagine never wanting to move again and it apparently becoming an unavoidable fate...
There was an old twilight zone about a ww2 ship that sunk and they couldn't retrieve it. The people on the surface could hear banging coming from the depths days after the wreck. I bet they got the inspiration from that story about Pearl harbor.
I think you're talking about the USS Arizona and it's still in the exact situation in which it sank bcuz it's considered the resting place of the 1,102 sailors that were trapped inside.
At least the boy in the box ended up getting his identity back there's no doubt in my mind that he had been suffering from prolonged torture prior to his death and his parents or whoever his guardians were at the time were the ones responsible and i think the cops know it aswell
These were fascinating if very upsetting at times. The person who lived with Gail should have got help way sooner. Surely they could have cut the couch fabric and brought her attached to that instead of the whole couch? And if the people who liverd with her had reported the issue way sooner before faeces was left everywhere and her lungs damaged - they might have saved her. This was neglect by her loved ones.
Incredible how Derek found a hidden talent from such a traumatic accident honestly its simply too unbelievable to be true but its truly amazing how he ended up finding his calling in life of the back of such a serious accident
My granddads ship The Prince of Wales was also sank by the Japanese in Dec 1941. He was one of the survivors and swam in the oil so the sharks wouldn't eat him and the few survivors he was a hero helping to save his ship mates.

Number 6, Eben Byers: "...a doctor suggested he take Radithor, a patent medicine manufactured by William J. A. Bailey. Bailey was a Harvard University dropout who falsely claimed to be a doctor of medicine and had become rich from the sale of Radithor, a solution of radium in water which he claimed stimulated the endocrine system. He offered physicians a 1/6 kickback on each dose prescribed." Doctors are to this day paid to get their patients hooked on lifelong medications and treatments. Especially the big V-one that must not be named, which for many ensures lifelong ailments for which they will need to come back for more medications.
Regarding number 6, the man who lost his jaw... every medication and treatment is "safe and effective" until it isn't. Don't trust the medical establishment, go there with your own brains. (Obviously I'm not anti medical care, surgeons especially are amazing, but it's just the point - every medication and treatment is touted as "safe and effective"... until it isn't.)
How is the mummy consumption not seen as just plain cannibalism? Forget archaeology, as important as it is, defacing human corpses just because they've been dead for thousands of years, is appalling. A 3000 year old corpse is worth just as much respect as a 3 minute old one. I will never be behind the display of human bodies in museums, either, unless they were willingly donated.
Gayle... how was her body removed from the couch, after death, then? How was she buried? Terrifying and sad. I've seen even more extreme cases in animals. A horse's skull was found in a field, with the harness grown completely into the skull. It had a foal's harness on, and the horse had grown up with it never being removed. Google and you shall find.

Wasn't there an episode of Cold Case about the boy in the box. My wife loved that show.

The story about Gail is horrifying beyond belief.

The doctor that performed surgery on himself. Did that not inspire an episode of House?
