- The Baron of Purgatory western TV series episode starring Richard Tretter and Gary Gray this is the pilot episode of a suggested TV series titled Tumbleweed from 1959. This is episode 9 of The Forsaken Westerns, an original TV series produced by Westerns On The Web Productions. In this episode Tretter stars as the title character Tumbleweed Jones. Mrs. Benson asks Tumbleweed for help in getting her son Johnny to come back home and not ride with the Pedrowski Outlaw Gang. But Johnny is tired of being poor and the riches and excitement of the outlaws have lured him in. The Forsaken Westerns series contains episodes of TV shows that were never broadcast or have not been broadcast in as many as 65 years. Almost lost forever, these rare television film treasures are now being released and uploaded for free viewing from the www.westernsont... archive collection. The actor playing the sheriff was pretty good and I liked the closing theme music.

Tretter a wooden actor incapable of showing emotions...and about those outrageously long eyebrows.
George Neise or John Archer or
Clu Gulager should have been the actor playing Tumbleweed Jones.

The Sheriff’s daughter is enough for me watch this show! El Coyote had way more potential than this pilot. Regardless, I still enjoyed it.

Now that was one hell of a move Tumbleweed pulled jumping that horse and pulling that rifle the way he did.
AT 15:47 THE MOVIE WENT SILENT THEN THE ADIO CAME BACK AT 16:31.

Who am I to be a critic of any sort ? But I watched for 9 minutes And I can understand why this pilot was not picked up. Not trying to be mean...I'm just sayin'.

I don't know if the sound cutting in and out is the result of being allowed to post this or some other reason. But whatever, it makes this one a total and complete waste of time. Sad, in that most of these are old gold. This one a chunk of used up coal. Dust.

With very few changes, in particular the phony western clothing, this could have been a great television series.

In the first scene there’s a crucifix and then a statue of Mother Mary with Baby Jesus!
It was the beginning of the persecution of anything Catholic!
