I have run "Start Tune and Cal" a few times now. I can report that the tuning problems are more or less gone on my unit. I am planning an update video, but life and work gets in the way unfortunately time-wise. And I have other videos on the way as well. I have been having fun with the Muse though! And here is a short new example of a musical idea that incorporates the muse: soundcloud.com/bjornar-1/muser-wip it sounds awesome. It is based on the Patch you see in this video as well. The sound you hear from the start is the muse, then I throw in some other synths.
Absolutely love the chord progression and patch at 6:53. Can't tell if the tune drifting at 7:16 was intentional or not but I think the drift really adds character here, incredible dude.
if it can help, I had the same calibration problems and the ticket was made to return the Muse to the seller. Then I read an article about the possibility of detuning when starting a digital/analog mix synthesizer during the calibration phase when headphones or other were connected to the synthesizer at startup, which was my case. if the Muse is started without any connection to external devices, it's "magic": Everything works very well and no more worries about detuning! Try it, normally everything should be back to normal while waiting for Moog to make an update (if possible) of this inconvenience. the problem can come from the calibration disruption when starting the Muse: Load on the output circuit (headphone connection, other ...) - Interaction between the audio stages (if headphones or other connected) and the calibration - Ground loop - poorly shielded headphones - Firmware or hardware bug ... In short, now it's a wonderful instrument!!! Let's forgive him for his youthful glitches!
Having the Muse and the Vermona Perfourmer makes me think about getting a hybrid synth (VA oscillator + analog filter), and I probably wouldn’t be able to easily tell the difference in terms of sound.
I've had mine for about a month. I mostly use it in my live rig at my studio, but I've been bringing it home to put some more hours into programming. My bedroom tends to vary in temperature quite a bit from night to day and the synth will regularly go out of tune. Quick tune works sometimes, but a lot of the time I just need to reboot it. The fact is, these voice cards are finicky and I'm not sure a software update is ever going to completely stabilize them. This is the trade off with a purely analog machine. I did do a full tune/cal in the first week after it was being super wonky, which actually only took about an hour and it was pretty stable for another week after that. I love the Muse, but I haven't had something this in a long time (all discrete analog) and I think there will be an adjustment period. My Prophet Rev2 with DCOs is 100% accurate all the time, but it doesn't have the depth and power of the Moog - that was the whole point. I guess we'll see!
Just run the full tune program (after the synth has cooled down for over an hour) and you should be fine. That's what solved the tuning issues on my Muse, and just about everyone else's it seems
It seems like the tuning issues are solved, but now I have an issue where it still plays sound when all mixer faders are at 0%. Moog does not answer, no. And also not on their forums. I guess they have problems due to some weather problems?
The tuning is better now. I had to run the full tuning program a few times, and now it seems stable. I am planning an update video but these videos takes time for me to make. So it's coming. :)
Hi. The tuning was just on the one patch? Probably the detune knob ( next to unison) was turned up while saving the patch. Try turning retune to zero that’s the only thing I could think of. Otherwise I have the same issues with midi sticking and clicks when changing patches. But does not really bother me. It’s a cool synth😊
@@bjornark ran a test similar to yours, playing chords and comparing to a vst plugin with different patches on the Muse . No issues. Hopefully Moog have a solution .
Read comments ... Disappointed the muse looked SO good . I was looking at trigon before this but the 49keys is SO limiting . 3 Grand for a muse and it has issues, not impressed !
Yeah. Its annoying. I am putting of making videos about it before it works correctly. I will give them one firmware update. If that doesnt work it goes back.
I am not impressed by you either. Maybe you live in a parallel world. Since when complex analog polys where released without flaws? And whats wrong with it? Reading comments maybe isn't the best way to value a synth. And this video is so boring and generic. A stiff music producer make me fall asleep.
Are you sure it's not a midi issue? (Double triggering, or something similar) You've had a midi error during the video, that might be a clue. When you play the actual keys without a DAW connected is it still out of tune? The firmware update could also have possibly reset/changed some settings.
Jeez Bjørnar, not a great experience. What rotten luck you've had. Hope you get to the bottom of it, surely retune should make it work better. Which has not been your experience so far. Fingers crossed you get a fix sorted Sir.
The "Full TUNE AND CAL" has been done now as well as someone else suggested in the comments and it still have issues with tuning. I have created a ticket on Moog Support. Lets see what they say.
It's supposed to be out of tune it's an analog synth. Get a rompler if you want the other type instantly perfect sound. I wonder if the tuner knob isn't causing a detune. You said you fixed it but you didn't tell how you fixed it. Like a marching band and every player is slightly out of tune with the other player that's what makes it awesome.
Why does it have the possibility to tune it, if its supposed to be out of tune? I get what you mean, but no. The unison was not on. It is performing better tune-wise now after running those full auto tuning programs a few times, but now I have another problem which is that it makes noise (sounds like an open saw) when all mixer faders are set to 0%. Very strange indeed. I have tried contacting moog on their forums and with a support ticket. They dont answer. I am perfectly aware of the analog instability, I have had the subsequent 37CV. But it is NOT supposed to be completly out of whack.
Not supposed to be this out of tune. I had this with mine, very familiar, and it’s not the same as oscillator-to-oscillator variation creating some nice chorusing and width. In this case, voices can be very dissonant with each other. Chords become atonal. It’s a real mess … but the full tune & calib took care of it for me. All good now. It’s a menu item, so clearly they expected this … analog for sure.
@@bjornark I have noticed that when all faders are on 0 it should be off or silent. The VCA level also should kill the levels. I wonder if there's an offset happening so that 0 isn't actually off. It's quirky and was probably released too early in the name of money.
Man, I got mine a few weeks ago and everytime I shut it off, I have to use the quick tune option about 20 times before it actually tunes correctly. I left it on for 3 weeks and it stayed in tune. Once it's off, it goes downhill again. Waiting for another software update to see if they can fix this,
