hi there! I love your video, great tips but I had to share...after using your brush in tls, fimo deco gel or bake n bond just soak it in rubbing alcohol and it will be as good as new!! alcohol eats away at raw clay! hope this helps ❤❤
You can also use a soft dry cloth or a cotton swab dipped in alcohol (dip the cloth first too) and rub it softly/gently onto your unbaked piece of polymer clay to rub off any dirt, dust, or hairs which may have gotten onto it prior to baking your piece! It works wonders....I was never so happy to find this trick out!
On the other hand, it's better for the environment to just leave the brush as is, if it stays useful and doesn't glom up, than to keep thinning it and sending chemicals down the drain, over and over.
Omg, I could hug you! I am a cake maker which is where I discovered polymer clay. Instead of cake toppers you spend days on only for them to be binned I now make clay keep sake figures to decorate the cake board (not on top lol) Your tip on the cling film is genius for both clay and fondant. It's videos like this that make people like me better. Thank you so much.

I am still new to working with clay, and completely self taught. I'm so glad I found you! I had no clue about cling wrap and hotfix stones! I use them in my sewing all the time! Your teapot is amazing! I am excited to learn this process for wine glasses!!! Thanks for all your info!!!!! :D
You're welcome! With the stones it is always worth giving them a little test prod, to double check. If they pop off just put back with superglue. If you have any questions please ask! I hope to make my own crafting channel soon, but first will have to purchase a camera as I don't think my ipod will do the job. I have been pre baking my items for a long time now, too. It really helps. I also know of using the plastic wrap. I didn't know about using tape to remove the wrinkles off the clay, though! Plastic wrap also works when you want to stamp your clay with a stamper. Thank you for this informative video!

Thank you! Make sure you give your crystals a little test after baking and maybe embed them a bit before you bake too. They should be ok but not all of them are the same. If they pop off when you test them you can use super glue. I'm having a bad anxiety day, can you tell? 😂

The bit about the masking tape to peel off the cling wrap is very helpful. Earlier when you were talking about hair or files on your clay you can also use a piece of scotch tape and lightly place it on the clay while raw and lift off the hair ,kind of like giving your legs waxed
I’ve been claying off and on for 20+ years and didn’t know about the cling film with a cutter! This is why I love polymer clay, there’s always something new to learn. PS: you are correct about the pumpkin shape. It’s not terribly pumpkiny.

I love the tape trick for cling wrap! Another trick, is when you're using mica powders on a textured piece, but you'd like to remove the powder on the raised part---just use the tape. Or if the powder goes where you don't want it to be, tap it with tape.

I stumbled upon using hand sanitizer to remove the colouring from my hands; after watching your tips it makes perfect sense! That's very sweet of you. If you do part bake something, make sure that the last time is a full length bake, according to the manufacturer's instructions. 😉❤️

Hooked On Polymer", where everyone is super supportive and helpful. My other tutorials on here are normally pretty simple too. ;)

Rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab can remove dust and hair from clay easily. And soak your paint brush tip in baby oil to dissolve liquid clay. Always use a mask when working with any fine powders or when your polishing and sanding your finished piece.
Sandwich bags are a bit thicker than the cling film and will give you a puffier cutout from your cutters. Didn't even think of tape to remove the cling film when I got overzealous at cutting. Now I will. Another tip - instead of a grid or a ruler always in my way, I found "measuring tape" on Amazon, which is printed yellow masking tape with 12" measurements and 30cm as well. I put it directly on my craft desk and on one tile that I usually use for rolling and cutting because it won't fit in my toaster oven. When the tape gets smudged and dirty, or difficult to read (alcohol kills the markings!), I simply replace it. I depend on it!

Once a child has had their fun, the original Peasant props, baskets of bread, fruit, fish, wine jugs etc have all been lost. I'll only be making a few, but I will get some inspiration from SC Shop and Angie. Thank You so much. Actually the original clay items are usually so naff, I probably can't do worse - laugh XXX
Your last tip is brilliant! I know the cling film trick, but the cling film sticking was driving me crazy. That I didn't think of this myself is so embarrassing. Great video!
Brilliant, fantastic tips thank you, I especially loved the one about the masking tape that is very useful as I love to get that bevel edge but 9 times out of 10 I am sat with my exacto knife trying to just catch the edge of the cling film!
It's frustrating isn't it? I suspect any tape will do actually but I like masking tape, because it doesn't twist together as soon as it leaves the roll LOL. xx

I had volume alll the way up and could barely hear her. Missed alot because of this.
Same here. I tried full volume with and without speakers and it was still too quiet. Neat video though. I just picked up my first pack of sculpey. Let's see what happens

Ooh I'm so glad you're giving polymer clay a go. There are places that you can get great tips, such as The Blue Bottle Tree website. You can also search for a group on FaceBook called "HOP! Hooked On Polymer", where everyone is super supportive and helpful. My other tutorials on here are normally pretty simple too. ;)

Rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab can remove dust and hair from clay easily. And soak your paint brush tip in baby oil to dissolve liquid clay. Always use a mask when working with any fine powders or when your polishing and sanding your finished piece.

Sandwich bags are a bit thicker than the cling film and will give you a puffier cutout from your cutters. Didn't even think of tape to remove the cling film when I got overzealous at cutting. Now I will.
Another tip - instead of a grid or a ruler always in my way, I found "measuring tape" on Amazon, which is printed yellow masking tape with 12" measurements and 30cm as well. I put it directly on my craft desk and on one tile that I usually use for rolling and cutting because it won't fit in my toaster oven. When the tape gets smudged and dirty, or difficult to read (alcohol kills the markings!), I simply replace it. I depend on it!

Thanks! I have a video on here about making 1/12 scale books out of polymer clay (some make up and a toilet brush feature in others lol). SugarCharmShop is a good channel to watch for food and Angie Scarr has a great channel too. Angie also has a book (available on Amazon) called "Making Miniature Food Out of Polymer Clay"... @@UnrulyHousewife That is so very thoughtful of you... for my own amusement I salvage and restore French Provencal Santon Clay dolls ( adult Peasant models really). Once a child has had their fun, the original Peasant props, baskets of bread, fruit, fish, wine jugs etc have all been lost. I'll only be making a few, but I will get some inspiration from SC Shop and Angie. Thank You so much. Actually the original clay items are usually so naff, I probably can't do worse - laugh XXX

Your last tip is brilliant! I know the cling film trick, but the cling film sticking was driving me crazy. That I didn't think of this myself is so embarrassing. Great video!
Brilliant, fantastic tips thank you, I especially loved the one about the masking tape that is very useful as I love to get that bevel edge but 9 times out of 10 I am sat with my exacto knife trying to just catch the edge of the cling film!
It's frustrating isn't it? I suspect any tape will do actually but I like masking tape, because it doesn't twist together as soon as it leaves the roll LOL. xx
