      @@veganizehi 😊👋 can I tell you about my journey as well? 😅 I started about 2 years ago. I had gotten needles, ink cups, fake skin, paper towels, and a squeeze bottle from Temu, then green soap and ink from Amazon. It all costed no more than $50. I already had a butt load of 70% alcohol packets because of my fiances work. I started practicing stuff I already knew, shapes and lines. I come from already doing realism with graphite and paper so this medium wasn't too difficult to figure out. I made some simple designs that only needed one needle size, and I played with making gray wash and shading shapes. After about 2 months I got restless and tired of the fake skins, they are messy, they dim the needles really fast, and I felt like my art wasn't progressing, a simple eye that I could do with pencil no problem looked like a 2nd graders scribble on the fake skin. So I went back to Temu, and got second skin, transfer paper, and stencil gel. I made a butterfly design and put it on my upper thigh near the bikini line. It took, I was happy. The rest is history! I've given myself 6 more tattoos since then, and they're getting bigger and more intricate. After I finish this next tattoo I'm working on on my fore arm, I think I'm going to really focus on some new designs, and make a portfolio, and by this time next year hopefully apply to an apprenticeship 🙏

    Isn’t the skin gonna heal better if we use straight movements ( crossed with other directions, so it doesn’t create holes) instead of circles?

    So say for a 4.0 throw machine which does have a reasonable amount of kick. What volts would you go for. I know you cant predicte my hand speed but, say for a generally slow or fast hand speed. What would be over kill? I suppose if its too low youll see its not saturating but if your too fast it will saturate but potentially scab and cause ink to fall out if voltage too high. Last question if you colour pack at 6.5 but go slow enough that would be possible wouldnt it. I've practiced on my leg but I'm finding it's luck of the draw if the ink stays in once healed and I can't work like this on a customer can I. Cheers in advance

      I’m having a similar issue, where I can pack some black, but other areas fall out, and I know my depth isn’t a problem so I’m wondering if it’s a hand speed/voltage issue. Or maybe it’s inadvertent needle angle problems, I think I need to do a video of me tattooing myself and then wait for it to heal and see what bits stay and what doesn’t and what I did differently on the bits that didn’t stay

    • @andyhowden7655
      @andyhowden7655 26 дней назад +1

      @mr_d3adw873 Looking back at my message I realise voltage depends on how fast you like to work and should sync with your technique. Say you do circular motions, voltage would depend on how fast you go with each circle. I think taking your time and not rushing is key. And also ensuring you have plenty of ink loaded in your cartridge/tip throughout. Finally, another element is the area of skin is to adjust needle depth slightly and adjust your stretch depending on the area of skin your working.

      There is no straught forward answer to this question. Its about your machine and power supply, and your hand speed.

    Are you going to destroy the skin if your speed is up? I like to work with a higher speed because my hand speed is naturally a bit faster.

    • @PersonaNonGrata-eh3lc
      @PersonaNonGrata-eh3lc 11 месяцев назад +4

      The answer is basically yes, but it depends. Rotary machines (pens and direct drives) have a harder hit than coils or sidewinder style rotaries (sidewinder machines drive an armature bar). So when you turn up the speed on a pen style or a direct drive rotary, it does move faster but it also hits harder.
      Also, if you are using cartridge needles as opposed to needle-on-bar, the retraction speed is slower. The membrane of a cartridge physically cannot rebound as quickly as an armature bar or direct drive. So even though you can speed up the machine, the rebound speed/force of the needle is always inherently limited by that rubber membrane. If the needle is not exiting the skin quickly enough for your hand speed, then it is UNDER the skin as you drag the machine, which will absolutely tear up the skin more.
      This means that you can generally work faster with machines that use needle-on-bar. The cartridges are great in terms of convenience and accessibility but they do force you to slow your hand speed a bit.
      Either way, it is imperative that you learn to control your hand speed and manipulate it as the situation requires. Machine speed is only part of the equation. For soft, smooth blends you absolutely must learn to slow down, both the machine and your hand. Practice doing slow pendulum movements with your hand. I find it can help to listen to some slow tempo music while doing this, so you grab on to the rhythm of the music.
      I work in a shop. I have watched guys try to rush through shading and you can see it making little cuts in the skin, because the needle can't exit fast enough and is raking the skin as they go. It also creates little lines in the shading which looks terrible.
