  • This seed growing method is great because it is so easy to remove just the seedlings you want to grow at the time, and keep the remaining ones in the container until you are ready for them. They seem to grow faster and better.

    This is such a great idea for planting seeds!! I’m starting some Persian cucumbers from seed 🥒 - I know it’s a bit late, but the cucumber plants I bought turned crispy brown and died. Fingers crossed for a successful venture!

    I’m so glad that you post so often, I always watch your videos before bed. I do have a gardening dilemma. I start all of my plants from seed and I live in zone 4b (upstate NY). That means I start my peppers indoors around February and can’t put them outside until around May-jun. this year I have had a terrible problem with damping off. These large beautiful plants are just dead one day and the base is black and shriveled. It hurts because of how much time (and electricity) was put into rearing them. We get a lot of rain here. Is there any advice you have to give?

    Love this idea. I have a question. Alot of garden site that I have been reading say that it is not good to plant sunflower seeds in your vegetable garden. Because they extract some kind of toxin or something. What is your opinion?

    • @RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy
      @RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy  3 месяца назад +3

      Sounds like someone’s trying to make a RUclips video to get clicks. I had a very good friend that had a very big farm growing all kinds of vegetables, squash, pumpkins, rhubarb, and so much more in a field of a half acre, and in between all his plants, he grew giant sunflowers to help shade his garden in the hot summer and grew tons of food. So you take from that what you think…But I wouldn’t plant it right next to a tomato plant, or any plant that’s a heavy feeder, because they’re going to pull up a lot of nutrients too, for their known to clean soil

    0:36 Good morning Robbie, 🌻🌸💓 last year when you made a video on how to make these cups, i started mine like that because the birds and slugs were eating my seedlings 😱 the tulle keeps everything out! My onions finally sprouted, they were protected and i feel like i can be successful in the garden! 🥰💯
    Last year, you also did a video going to the nursery and getting some sun gold tomatoes, i had never tried this variety, so we found one at the home depot and it didnt produce much fruit, but the litlle fruit it did, was DELICIOSE so i kept it in the tote ALL YEAR.. for science.. of course 🤓, about 2 months ago ago it started to regrow from the base of the main stalk which was pretty much dead 😲😲😲 so i just cut it off and let it keep growing, super excited, thanks for making gardening fun and exciting 😘🍅💓🥕🥬🐝🐞🐢🐈 zone 10 a central coast of California SLO P.S -ALSO my cucumbers and zucchini sprouted 3 days after planting... IT'S TIME ! ⏰

    I like the idea of not having to tip the pots upside down, which is usually when it all goes catawampus for me. It's still dropping into the 40s at night where I am, then scorching everything during the day despite only being in the 80s (which is usually August weather for here). Been a rough growing year so far. And it's only June...

    Calcined clay (kitty litter and oil spill cleaner) is also used in bonsai for soilless mixes. It is the same stuff that they put on baseball fields.
    If using for horticulture be sure to use the unscented version without the clumping agents and other chemicals.
