I'm somewhat anosmic to one of my FAV scents, Original by Riddle Oil, and layering it with Molecule 01 actually helps me smell it a lot more. It seriously helps the projection and is a beautiful CLEAN combo.
It smells super strong to me very chemically and with that musky fizzy trail the wafts in the air but in really nice way its hard to explain but it smells like every fragrance that I’ve ever really liked it’s like the MSG of the fragrance world.

It was my first exposure to ISO E Super, and is one of the few fragrances in the wet shaving world that I believe holds up as a unique experience on its own. I have used this scent more than anything else this last year, and is my "everyday" scent.
I ordered a sample of 01, and FINALLY understand what I'm smelling in Encre Noire. I didn't think it was the vetiver so much, bc I have vetiver essential oil that smells very different! As soon as I sprayed on 01, my first thought was "Oh! Encre Noire!"
I'm no perfumer and my fragrance journey has only started a year ago, but here's what I can say about ISO E Super and Molecule 01: It's a commercial trade name in which there are many variations of it. Geza Schoen (the perfumer of Molecule 01) was asked why can't someone just make their own version of Molecule 01 and he responded that the ingredient he uses is not available for the public and that 'you just have to trust him on that'. That ingredient would be "Iso Gamma Super" and a couple self-taught perfumers have noted the difference, stating that the closest thing to "Iso Gamma Super" would be "Timbersilk", which is available to the public. I bought a sample of Molecule 01 from Luckyscent and I could smell it in the bag when I opened it. As I sprayed it on my skin, I couldn't smell it at first. But as I went to work (I do manual labor), I could smell a subtle, sweet woody smell. The trick to be active and not lounge around since it responds to body heat. Who knows, maybe other people did smell it when you can't but nobody talks about it or compliments it. That being said, you're better off getting a sample to see if it works. Those who buy the 'home-brewed' versions on eBay are probably going to be disappointed because you're dealing with a knockoff and not a real thing. Worst case scenario, you spent $6 sampling a fragrance that doesn't work on you. Best case scenario, you discovered you have a office-friendly fragrance to wear as more people are becoming allergic for a number of reasons.
Yes Molecule 01 is great, smells indeed like cedar, e.g. like pencil/crayon shavings, very soft cedar-like. Surprisingly I could smell it right away at first sniff (in contrast to The Body Shop White Musk, which I could not smell at all first time I tried it in a store). Planning to add Molecule 02 and 04 as well to my collection, if only as nose trainers. But Molecule 01 I enjoy wearing on its own, great soft scent! Planning to layer it with PDM Herod which I got today and find it with extremely poor longevity, eg. less than 2 hours seems pretty much gone. Might have some anosmia to that one? Will have to try it for a few days to see.
I just bought Sylvamber which contains 22% of iso gamma and mixed it 9:1 with cosmetic base water. Iso e super just contains 5% of isogamma. Isogamma is the stuff that activates the first of the 5 pheromone receptors, so the more you have, the more it gets the effect. I think of tuning in a little bit of hedione aswell. It also activates the pheromone receptors.
Sweet pencil shavings and cedar, to me. Thanks for identifying it for me, Sebastian. Bulgari Man has it in the top notes and I simply could not identify it when I bought it. Man, I love this stuff.
On it’s on I don’t know what smells bad . But I layered it with silver mountain water . It didn’t change the smell of it , but it did make it more powerful it’s been 7 hours still going strong . I thought it would change the smell of it , but I tested it out on my cousin . It still smelled bad on him too . He used his Ralph Lauren club for men cologne . It made it slightly sweet smelling then made it more powerful . So it actually did it’s job just not a stand alone by itself . ( I don’t know what ) is the one I’m speaking about .

Thats why I dont do layering, a perfume is made to be like this, besides I should not want to kill an Amouage niche by to layer it, you will lost that art. Its very simple, we just not perfumers, so leave it to them.
I ordered Molecule 01 and wearing it for the first time today. I seem to be 100% nose blind to it. It smells like pure air or water - like absolutely nothing. :( Maybe I can layer a weak scent on top of it to help boost that scent?
I know it's been talked to death on forums like Basenotes, but I just can't see paying Escentric's price for Molecule 01 when you can buy 15ml of IFF ISO E Super neat for $4 US and make your own. Sure, you don't get the nice bottle, but it'll smell identical. At least it did to my nose when I compared the real thing with a homemade batch. Has anybody else ever made their own?

I love the smell of my molecule 01 bottle but on my skin when I smell it up close I find it doesn't smell that good on me. I am gonna try again and ask to a friend if it smell good in the air.. For me molécule 04 works very great good smell and amazing performance.

I bought Molecule 1 and couldn’t smell it on my wrist - to the point where I was going to throw it out. I tried later on my left arm and eventually could - it reminds me of Tom Ford’s Italian Cypress

The way ISO e super is described reminds me of Bentley For Men Absolute. The smell of wood shavings (or hamster cage) is very strong in that fragrance. Could be the ISO e super.
Im in love with Escentric 01! But - combination Molecule 01 with Dior Cologne or Ch.Allure Sport Cologne will be delicious? Because they die pretty quickly ... And how about combining it with things that are hard to sense around, such as Bois D'encens, Full Incense, Cardinal, La Liturgie Heures? Generally my beloved incense .. I miss Gucci Rush/GPH
It doesn't smell like that to everyone. To some people it smells like Isopropyl alcohol. So does ambroxan and most of those other new molecules. The only molecule I like is hedione. more for the delicate lift and lightness it adds to a fragrance, like clouds floating in the sky kind of feel.

I just got like a 10 mL vial of this molecule one and it doesn't smell like anything well it actually does smells like a chemical like a very light faint chemical
OK it arrived and you're right--I couldn't smell anything, I'm anosmic to it! However, much later on I was getting a whiff of...something I don't know. Perhaps it's my body heat the activated it(if that's how it works). Eventually I decided it was the woody and dry scent you mentioned. No regrets!
I have 3 fragrances I rotate. I am new to ISO Super E. Does anyone know if I can mix this with my faves to make my own "Signature" fragrance? Is this a good or bad idea?? 😊 ❤ 😊
@@neva.2764 I rotate between Cashmere Mist, Not a Perfume, Tova Signature (I've worn her for 30 years and can't give her up!) and occasionally Baccarat Rouge 540, but very sparingly as it's over my budget! I sometimes use Tova and Not a Perfume layered.
I realise it has it's uses and fans but there are those of us that can find it unpleasant and headache inducing, like myself. I can spot it straight away in Fragrances like Terre D'Hermes, Lalique Encre Noire or Proraso Cypress and Vetiver. It might be great for those that tolerate it but it ruins those fragrances for me
hi, thanks for the video. I wanted to clarify the amount of iso e super which is permissible to be used in a eau de parfum / eau de toilette. Is it 10% of the perfume concentrate or 10% of the spray in which case if iso e super is the only ingredient, the product would have to be eau de toilette since the concentration of the perfume blend is higher in a eau de parfum, please do guide me on the same. thanks ☺
Iso E Super is a tough one for me. I can still just smell hamster cage and a bit of black pepper, to the point it overwhelms and I have to scrub it off after about an hour. I feel like it's floating on top of a lot of things that I can't smell, so I get frustrated.
I don't like to smell M 01 on my skin. I call it my proposal scent because it receive so much attention when I am wearing it. People are going nuts. The secret is into the distilling of the water they are using, by distilling water with ingredients, they can still call it water at the end and so is written on the box... but its not... see?!

Sprayed my arm in the morning, took a shower a few hours later and still smelling it through my shirt 5hours later! The only other fragrance that I’d compare it to in strength would be Molecule 04. -That stuff is nuclear to the point of making me a little embarrassed to wear.

Sylvamber is another material in the Isocyclemone E, Iso E Super, Timbersilk family of products although produced by a different manufacturer. Sylvamber has the highest proportion of the gamma isomer of this type of product on the market, typically 22% (compared to around 8% in Iso E Super, just under 15% in Timbersilk, and around 18% in the IFF captive called Iso Gamma Super).
I can not stand how this smells on my skin. Sort of a metallic feel to it. For some reason it has that metallic smell as ysl L’homme has, I’m not sure if l’homme contains iso e, but I would definitely say there is something that lingers around that smells to my nose like iso e. I own molecule 01 and to this day still regret blind buying it. I usually just spray it out of a warm shower to get done with the bottle.
Your examples (except for hermes) are all so obscure...you could have just listed fierce, mont blanc legend, blu de chanel, and Liz Clairborne curve (the green bottle) for instant reference to us plebs
Uff Iso-e super. To my nose/brain it is mostly pure anosmia but with a blanket or pepper sprinkled disinfectant/alcohol. And also a texture that clouds around other smells so I cannot get the other notes clearly when a perfume has this in a good amount in it. Weird, I know. Sadly to me, a perfume spoiler. I am on the minority!

If you like pencil or "inkish"....Mortal Skin is to die for. I love it.

Molecule 01 is my summer fragrance. I wear the hell out of that scent😊

Ive been told that Molecule 01 is made from a specially made ISO E super that is called ISO Gamma Super.
Most people say "clean laundry" when smelling iso e super in a mix. By itself it is a little hard to describe. I just call it clean blue.
I really dig this one Molecule 01...I go a bit heavy with the sprays...living in the Caribbean works perfect in the heat☀️👌

Ormonde Jayne uses masses of it in her perfumes. Really pulls on the mass appeal of that stuff.

Yes I think it would work with those two designer fragrances you are trying to boost up. Layer EM01 first then find a balance and see. :)

OK it arrived and you're right--I couldn't smell anything, I'm anosmic to it! However, much later on I was getting a whiff of...something I don't know. Perhaps it's my body heat the activated it(if that's how it works). Eventually I decided it was the woody and dry scent you mentioned. No regrets!
Dior Home 2020 is a great scent!
I have 3 fragrances I rotate. I am new to ISO Super E. Does anyone know if I can mix this with my faves to make my own "Signature" fragrance? Is this a good or bad idea?? 😊 ❤ 😊
Depends what your faves are of course.
@@neva.2764 I rotate between Cashmere Mist, Not a Perfume, Tova Signature (I've worn her for 30 years and can't give her up!) and occasionally Baccarat Rouge 540, but very sparingly as it's over my budget! I sometimes use Tova and Not a Perfume layered.

I realise it has it's uses and fans but there are those of us that can find it unpleasant and headache inducing, like myself. I can spot it straight away in Fragrances like Terre D'Hermes, Lalique Encre Noire or Proraso Cypress and Vetiver. It might be great for those that tolerate it but it ruins those fragrances for me
hi, thanks for the video. I wanted to clarify the amount of iso e super which is permissible to be used in a eau de parfum / eau de toilette. Is it 10% of the perfume concentrate or 10% of the spray in which case if iso e super is the only ingredient, the product would have to be eau de toilette since the concentration of the perfume blend is higher in a eau de parfum, please do guide me on the same. thanks ☺

Iso E Super is a tough one for me. I can still just smell hamster cage and a bit of black pepper, to the point it overwhelms and I have to scrub it off after about an hour. I feel like it's floating on top of a lot of things that I can't smell, so I get frustrated.

I don't like to smell M 01 on my skin. I call it my proposal scent because it receive so much attention when I am wearing it. People are going nuts. But the dose makes the poison because you can get easily the "trying to hard" vibe. Greetings from Germany. PS there are many interviews with Geza, worth to search the internet. You can find it at discounters as low as $80ish but yes it's a bit pricey for a minimalistic fragrance! :)

I like your vids, but Molecule 01 is more complicated made then people know, people tried to make it them self, also I tried to do many years ago, but its not the same as Molecule 01.
The secret is into the distilling of the water they are using, by distilling water with ingredients, they can still call it water at the end and so is written on the box... but its not... see?!

I decided to just blind buy it and so far so good! I’d say it leans closer to Another13.. similar but different indeed! VERY strong. Sprayed my arm in the morning, took a shower a few hours later and still smelling it through my shirt 5hours later! The only other fragrance that I’d compare it to in strength would be Molecule 04. -That stuff is nuclear to the point of making me a little embarrassed to wear.

They belong to the same family but they are not the same.
Sylvamber is another material in the Isocyclemone E, Iso E Super, Timbersilk family of products although produced by a different manufacturer. Sylvamber has the highest proportion of the gamma isomer of this type of product on the market, typically 22% (compared to around 8% in Iso E Super, just under 15% in Timbersilk, and around 18% in the IFF captive called Iso Gamma Super).

I can not stand how this smells on my skin. Sort of a metallic feel to it. For some reason it has that metallic smell as ysl L’homme has, I’m not sure if l’homme contains iso e, but I would definitely say there is something that lingers around that smells to my nose like iso e. I own molecule 01 and to this day still regret blind buying it. I usually just spray it out of a warm shower to get done with the bottle.

Your examples (except for hermes) are all so obscure...you could have just listed fierce, mont blanc legend, blu de chanel, and Liz Clairborne curve (the green bottle) for instant reference to us plebs
Uff Iso-e super. To my nose/brain it is mostly pure anosmia but with a blanket or pepper sprinkled disinfectant/alcohol. And also a texture that clouds around other smells so I cannot get the other notes clearly when a perfume has this in a good amount in it. Weird, I know. Sadly to me, a perfume spoiler. I am on the minority!
