Complaining about politics in skating has been a thing since the 80s. And everyone does it.
If you expanded your skills to grinds and slides you would win contests. People don’t hate you. Well… ok some people hate you. But no matter who you are or what you do, some prick out there is gonna talk sh!t. It’s just unfortunately thrown in your face because you are famous on social media. People can be pricks and suffer little to no consequences. Just know they are actually hating on themselves and are venting and projecting their nonsense into you. You rule dude. social media is insane. Don’t let it mess with your head. It’s the lack of diversity in your skating that holds you back. People do want to see you krook a hubba. That would be sick dude.
The way this was edited I had no idea whether Jeff had a point or not for most of the video, since I couldn't tell who placed where. Third seemed fair considering he never touched the hubba. I only realized who placed first at the very end, and unless some real bangers of his are totally missing from this footage--yeah, definitely rigged.
The other guys were doing flip tricks to grinds & slides down the hubba, sometimes with shuv-its or 360’s out. That is immensely more impressive than any of the tricks done by anyone down the stairs. Doing flip tricks down stairs is rad, but it’s not the ultimate demonstration of skateboarding talent. Once you learn a flip trick, the next steps should be flipping to grinds and slides, at this pro level. I’m not sure there’s a clear consensus that double flips, triple flips, double 360 flips, or 540 flips are superior to flip tricks to grinds down the hubba. The consequences of error and injury are so much higher with flips to grinds/slides down the hubba, so when you see it, you’re wow’d. I’d say you placed accordingly.
bro no offence but your like the hometown skatepark hero.you arent at the same level as top pros. Like if your skating for the love thats cool but if you really want to be accepted like you gotta care but you always say you dont care. you try to have it both ways. yes you got skills but yes alot of your skating is hard to watch.
If I was judging it like a typical X games or SLS event, not hitting the hubba at all and only tricking down the stairs would seem to be a pretty glaring performance omission that should definitely cost you points (assuming the winner did do both), even though you did explicitly ask the judges about the criteria and it sounds like didn't get a very clear answer and that certainly wasn't stated, but it's a skate contest, what do you expect
No offense, but what is Jeff confused about? The whole skate world has been telling him exactly what they want to see for like 15 years. What parts of his game to improve to have more success and really be professional. And he's like, "fuck that, I'm gonna be me", which is cool and deserves a certain amount of respect, but it aint what pros do. Pros face their fears and develop the weaker parts of their game and don't make up stories about hate and the game being rigged. They listen to feedback when everyone's telling them the same thing. Props to Jeff for being a dope skater but this is BS
part of a contest is usually who does the best tricks and utilises all the surfaces, obstacles, walls, etc...... so if one doesnt do any hubba tricks and there is a hubba sitting right in the middle of the course that instantly will impact their overall score..... I was ranked number two in all of socal in C. A. S. L. Skating against some future legends. But I got on a board company and still skating the same and was getting low scores all because of the company I was skating for. Which was vision skateboards. People were hating on me just because I went to vision. I later got on flow for planet earth and peoples attitude towards me changed. But it’s funny. Especially back then.

The bottom line is skating is subjective and comparing tricks is apples to oranges. Some judges are gonna prefer hubba tricks while some are gonna prefer gap tricks. But most judges I feel rail and hubba tricks get scored higher than gap tricks which I think is nuts. But it is what it is. Skateboarding is hard to judge.
Mate, like ur ideas but the vids are all over the place. How were we supposed to judge that? No idea who was who, or who placed where, no idea if those were all attempts. Literally need to watch it through and watch again, even then still dunno if that was everything.
i knew they started getting rigged when womens skating started getting popular. many many years ago, many of us were worried that the likes of ryan sheckler and nyjah huston would ruin the integrity of skateboarding. why are they letting these children skate with the men? oh, then we learned, nyjah is goated and really deserved to be pro at 15 or what ever. same with sheckler, dudes through down, got what they deserved. but, with the womens competitons, i swear the younger you are, the better they rate you which is ridiculous. former lacey baker was my favorite skater, she through down like the men, doing real skateboarding tricks, actually utilizing the park which was important for scoring, and not falling, and landing complex tricks. sory, children doing front boards isnt as hard as somebody doing a kick flip smith/feeble on a ledge. one of those tricks is objectively harder to do. but we let kids board slide hand rails and win competitions.
I love your storytelling skills! That together with your warm and calming voice. Jeff’s character. The comedy vibe how you roast each other in a mild way. There is really some magic soup cookin 🪄
Less is more IMO. I'd rather watch a good tre flip rather than some trick where the board flips 10 times and is barely caught before being landed....... Trick selection over flip and trick quantity
Bro these judges more crazy than the ysl 1 judges 🤣 everyone loves an underdog we know you hungry brother don’t let up, they ain’t givin respect you go an take it 😤💪🏼
DON'T CARE what the industry says... Jeff the people's champ, & has been shredding for ever! He deserves respect & anyone who doesn't give it to him are insecure LAMES! Jeff RULES
Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion about what type of skating they like. But that shit should go out the door during the contest. The most difficult tricks should win point blank.
Idk if you should’ve got 3rd… you don’t have any flip into grinds? If you could add a kickflip crook or even flip 50-50, I think it’d really help you out. Just my two cents, and I feel like you got that.
This is what can happen with sports that are half athletic and half art. Figure skating, gymnastics what ever. It’s somewhat open to judges interpretation.
@@joshuadansby2874 I think the current formats are fine. The problem is the judging and judging criteria. It needs to be more transparent on how the weight things like trick difficulty, obstacle selection, variety, execution/form/style. And more transparent on how points are to be deducted for poor execution, lack of variety etc. it’s just too open for interpretation, they need to sit down with a group of experts and figure out what things should score relative to other things.
I got to go with the hardflip backside noseblunt over you Jeff. But you should have been second. Keep your head up, and never stop pushing the boundaries of skateboarding. Skateboarding should be boundless but we all know the industry plays favorites. I appreciate you speaking up about judges and the absurdity they do with I would say 80 percent of contests I watch.
and bro we dont hate you, your just different than everyone else so of course ppl are gonna hate... look at andy bro . but ppl love him also! i love the shit you do and honestly most the times my comments are taken wrongly. its all love. and tbh u def won this comp! the dude who won didnt even deserve top five like even close.

You won because you earned it not the one trick you liked you give every tick every try everyday 110 percent and it shows in your skateboarding. You are consistent brother you deserve it period remember what you fell in love with the mechanism I'm telling you kid Nobody Does it Like You. Tommy
I feel like Jeff is viewed as sort of a novelty act (which I don’t agree with). The guy who won had clean style and good pop on his tricks but Jeff’s tricks were definitely harder. If no one had seen Jeff skate before, and he came out with those tricks, I feel like Jeff wins.
No cap I feel like they don’t want to let twin in game cause his tricks so wild. Keep going Jeff keep building this social media s***t so you got your own lane and if they trying to close the door in the industry kick it down like the task force
You are a sick a SK8R, I do believe there are politics in comps, and its F****ed up. I would have to ask did you hit the ledge or was all your tricks down the set? I could see not hitting the down ledge affect your overall placement/score.
On the hubba note.. A crook definitely wouldn't hurt! Or crook (3)shuv. 3 shuv probably not be worth the effort, but can't overlook the things you *can* do.
I agree with everything you said in the video but I was sitting with the judges and they were constantly asking how many trick people did overall. The guy that won 2nd, Smoov, did land a bunch of good tricks right away and then got stuck on the crook heel out that he eventually landed at the end. I don’t know the guy that took 1st but he did land a bunch of tricks but still shouldn’t have won compared to what you handled. Maybe people are desensitized by crazy tricks 😂 There was best trick also and hard flip noseblunt dude won that. Honestly this vid was the best thing that came out of that contest so you take the dub
You shouldn't ruin skateboarding by competing. Unless you want to make a living at it. It's a bit like making music, for example, and going out on weekends to compete with other bands for the best song. That would be pretty ridiculous. Skateboarding is at its best an art, not a competition. And judges are just people with their own personal preferences and possibly other reasons.
@@Batrobot81 well yea thats it. Money was up for grabs. I dont make a livable wage off board sales and brand deals. Contests are a big part of being able to survive as a pro skater.
competition is what helps progress things forward. If people wasn't competing to get the best video part, best ender, skater of the year, contest, etc then skateboarding would've stagnated and died out a long time ago. Plenty of classical pianist compete in music competitions. Any "sport" can become an artistic endeavor and any "Artform" can be turned into a "sport".
L take. Skateboarding can be enjoyed while being competitive. Maybe that’s not your cup of tea, it certainly isn’t mine, but I can acknowledge that being competitive doesn’t “ruin” the sport. It just makes it different.
@@jalensoto187 That's fine, if you see skateboarding as a sport then competition is a natural part of it. I was mainly talking about competing against each other in live events with judges. Of course you look at the skills of others in each sport and want to learn new things. In that sense, competition is always part of everything. I use a translator in these comments so the sentence structure/words may be a bit wrong.

I feel like Jeff should of got first for the fact he landed every trick he tried and the mofos hating on his style are just haters
i knew they started getting rigged when womens skating started getting popular.
many many years ago, many of us were worried that the likes of ryan sheckler and nyjah huston would ruin the integrity of skateboarding.
why are they letting these children skate with the men? oh, then we learned, nyjah is goated and really deserved to be pro at 15 or what ever. same with sheckler, dudes through down, got what they deserved.
but, with the womens competitons, i swear the younger you are, the better they rate you which is ridiculous.
former lacey baker was my favorite skater, she through down like the men, doing real skateboarding tricks, actually utilizing the park which was important for scoring, and not falling, and landing complex tricks.
sory, children doing front boards isnt as hard as somebody doing a kick flip smith/feeble on a ledge.
one of those tricks is objectively harder to do. but we let kids board slide hand rails and win competitions.
0:42 that edit is brilliant. :D when something goes so wrong that you can't help but to smirk a little bit yourself. :')
u gotta learn the meta of contests in 2024, you have to skate rails
Jeff: "What do I do here? I've done every trick..."
Lamont: "Every trick in f*ckin' Tony Hawk Pro Skater."'
I wanna see Jeffwon do ledge / rail tricks
Bro these judges more crazy than the ysl 1 judges 🤣 everyone loves an underdog we know you hungry brother don’t let up, they ain’t givin respect you go an take it 😤💪🏼
"these super hard tricks are easier for you so we grade them lower" type ish
DON'T CARE what the industry says...
Jeff the people's champ, & has been shredding for ever! He deserves respect & anyone who doesn't give it to him are insecure LAMES!
Jeff RULES
Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion about what type of skating they like. But that shit should go out the door during the contest. The most difficult tricks should win point blank.
Omg, im sry, but that intro was pure gold! Had me laughing my ass off!!!
Same twin
Tre nosegrind amd hardflip noseblunt should have placed.
It’s supposed to be like the love 4 block and it’s a little 9 stair that’s basically the size of a 6 stair 😂
That's why there should Only be different kinds of games of skate competitions. Those would be more fair. Traditional contests are very bias.
If u wore a baggy fit 2nd place 4 sure
and bro we dont hate you, your just different than everyone else so of course ppl are gonna hate... look at andy bro . but ppl love him also! i love the shit you do and honestly most the times my comments are taken wrongly. its all love. and tbh u def won this comp! the dude who won didnt even deserve top five like even close.
Winning is winning brother look at what it took for you to get to this point. You won because you earned it not the one trick you liked you give every tick every try everyday 110 percent and it shows in your skateboarding. You are consistent brother you deserve it period remember what you fell in love with the mechanism I'm telling you kid Nobody Does it Like You. Tommy
What he get first for the 180 switch crook? The tre flip front nosegrind and hardflip bs nose blunt should have won
I agree with this. Strange results to say the least, lol
U killed it Jeff🤘 glad I got to watch it in person🤝
Does nobody else here think that 180 switch crook is the hardest trick ever
With that setup it should just be a cash for tricks contest, that way everyone who lands wins some.
9:00 CLEAN
No cap I feel like they don’t want to let twin in game cause his tricks so wild.
Keep going Jeff keep building this social media s***t so you got your own lane and if they trying to close the door in the industry kick it down like the task force
Jeff I’m not gonna lie you have to switch your mindset, I wouldn’t be able to even be around someone this negative let alone skate .
Jeff really does deserve more love 🙏
Jeff decharse is my favorite skateboarder right now, I hate him
They are not going to score you high because they have seen all your tricks a million times worse attitude for skateboarding
quality over quantity.
Politics is everywhere in sports, its not even worth watching anymore.
dude your lucky you got third lmao
Style matters
Jeff should have placed just saying
@@jeffwonsong Okay, I understand your frustration then.
Jeff and Lamont great duo!!
You rock brotha they should've given you first and if you skate this good at the next contest and they don't give you the W we'll know for sure shit is rigged.
You're chill but this red arrow clickbait stuff is so annoying takes away the attention from how good you are and makes you look like someone you're not. Be more about you and what you like because it does not show unless you go looking for it.
Man this intro is Golden, The black and white, Getting third place then the 2nd place guy leaves you hanging. Golden comedy lol.
