T-90 "modern"? This is such a joke, right?) The T-90 is just a modernized T-72, and the latter is 8 years older than the M1A1. I'm not even saying that even the modernized T-64, despite the fact that it is older than the T-72 and T-90, will be more modern than them. And speaking generally, the only tank that can be called modern, albeit with a stretch, is the T-80. Here it is, more or less modern compared to all the other Soviet T-series tanks. However, I want to note that absolutely all T-series tanks are outdated. No modernization can save them; something new needs to be created. But there is nothing new, because the outflow of scientists from the post-soviet space due to the russian wars, the general poverty of these countries (with the possible exception of the Baltic countries) and the kremlin’s geopolitics regarding their neighbors (which, as has long been known, they consider rather “rebellious provinces” than independent states. They still, 33 years later, cannot believe that the red empire collapsed).
Uuuum, you know America's super advanced F22 that outmatches everything else 99% of the time? Yeah, that was developed in the 90's. Yes it's newer, but F16's were made in 1978. Modern doesn't always mean "I was made a year ago". It means "what we are currently using". Also, in your argument for why it isn't modern you said "modernized" and kinda ruined your whole argument. BUT, I agree, it is not truly modern like Leopard 2A6 and such.

As you can see, according to these parameters, the T-90, like the T-72, does not correspond to the concept of a “modern tank”. Do you think that I am proceeding from the idea that "old is crap, because it is old"? This is not true at all. I love old weapons. I like almost all rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, tanks, planes and other weapons from the times of the First and Second World Wars, the Cold War. I like the appearance of the T-72 and T-90. But this does not mean that I will extol it as "ideal, the height of perfection, super-duper modern", as russian propaganda likes to do about russian weapons. Modern (in your understanding) russian weapons are far behind Western ones. And have you even seen the T-72 (T-90) inside? It's literally a poorly armored sprat tin, in which the gunner and commander sit on the ammunition. Although, of course, if you compare it with the tanks of the Second World War (and some tanks of the Cold War), the T-72 (T-90) is incredibly well protected.
