Hi everyone. I´m Javier Meroño, director of the film. First of all, no matter your opinion about it, thanks for taking the time to watch it! That's the main goal of all this. I will try to address some of the comments below, but feel free to reply to this comment if you got any specific question or curiosity that you would like me to answer. I hope you enjoyed it, but even if you didn't, thanks again for watching it. If you do get some enjoyment out of it, remember to give it a thumbs up!
I enjoyed it!!!!
Why did you decide to have no sense of movement in his face while in the G-rail? Even a good fan would have helped to sell the illusion of movement.
@@username82765 thanks for watching the film. As for your question, if you look at actual footage from centrifuges you will see the old "fan/wind" effect used in older movies is NOT an accurate representation of what happens inside a centrifuge. There's no motion on the face similar to a rollercoaster or anything like that. There is indeed a gradual and slow deformation of the face but for artistic reasons we decided to leave that out since the tests I did messed a lot with the actor's performance which I was very happy about. Thanks for your good question!
¡¡¡QUEREMOS MÁS!!!
Good starting point for something bigger and longer.
The musical nod to John Boorman's brilliant Excalibur was a nice touch. I remember seeing it on the silver screen when it was still in theaters.
I guess that means I'm old. ✌️🖖
I noticed that little Wagnerian nod, too, and got a little too excited.
Hi there. I'm the director of the film. You have a keen ear (and a great taste apparently, from your film knowledge)! Boorman´s work was indeed one of the genesis for this little project of mine, so I felt using those fragments from "Siegfried's Funeral March" from Wagner was a nice way to connect with the wonderful "Excalibur", at any rate the best and definitive work on the arthurian subject on film.
Me too.
I saw it in a masters course titled Arthurian Legends. This was while fulfilling the LA requirements for my EE degree.
The musical nod was all that was good.........I could see where they were headed, but the destination was more important than the journey.
I Really Didn’t UnDerStand What Exactly Was Going On, But I Sincerely Love The Music And Graphics💗💗💗💯💯💯❗️❗️❗️
That's what I thought. God bless you ✝️
It seems to be a retelling of the Arthurian tale where Percival meets an ailing Fisher King and encounters the holy grail. Being naive, he doesn't realize what he could have done to save the Fisher King. The Fisher King dies, and afterwards once he discovers it's true nature goes on a quest to retrieve grail, and ends up it's keeper. Similar story here, except the cure is the Grail.
Interesting take on the myth. I liked the sound clips from "Excalibur", probably my personal favourite film on the subject.
Hi! I´m the director. As I replied above to someone else, it was very intentional, and I totally agree with you. Excalibur is the best film on the subject, bar none.
Nicol Williamson was the best Merlin ever. Stole the show, in my book. Wagner’s “O Fortuna” was delightfully malevolent. Well played, sir!
Nice Wagnerian touch!
This was a great beginning to a longer story, hope to see more!👍👍
“Cerebral hypoxia.” Instead of putting the scientist in that rotating arm to subject him to extreme G’s, they could have just throttled him for 5 minutes to deprive his brain of oxygen. Kind of like breath play . . .
hmmm breath play, an interesting take on it, he, he. Funny thing is it probably would work and all things considered, would probably find the journey more enjoyable 😉😅
What exactly is Hypoxia? I've heard of it. Thank you. God bless you
@@lvelez1999 Basically a lack of oxygen. Hypo = means below normal. Oxia = refers to oxygen. The Cerebral is of course the brain. Overall, depriving oxygen to the brain. When intentionally performed with consent, it is usually an intimate performance which by the accounts of those who exercise this activity, apparently brings another level of pleasure
Could have inhaled butane, or helium, or smoked some dmt
Very good job guys whoever made this, I will give it a 10/10 for the graphics and effects that were taken in part!
I hope there's more coming. It kept my attention throughout. Now, I'm ready for a longer part 2! Enjoyable for sure! Thanks.
A beginning
A middle
No end
Such hope.
Please try again.
Maybe,
just maybe -
you can save
this short
Only one way l could describe this: EPIC Good work team!!
Simple story, but so to the point, just incredible. It's rare even for shorts that the suspense can be uphold so long - super work, thanks for this gem! And yea, very good play also from Parcival 😂
imagine your in the speed testing module and it forces brain cells to open another demension of thinking 💭
Joe Rogan: have you heard of DMT
Super bien pensée merci à toi pour ce partage. Vivement la suite
It'll be alright on the Knight. 😊
That was great! Could watch more of this if it were made into a bigger project for sure!
The point? The words were hidden by the NOISE!
So suffering G lock in a centrifuge and blacking out gives immense biological insights. Excellent, let's retain all fighter pilots for a Biology Phd.
Hahahah. Hey, I´m the director of the film. Your comment cracked me up. I understand it is quite a far fetched idea (and not the only one) but maybe I can give you a little bit of my insight on it. While watching John Boorman's "Excalibur" I realized the Grail only appears to Perceval while having near-to-death experiences. This is not a coincidence as Boorman based much of his research on Jessie Weston's "From Ritual to Romance " where it traces the origin of the Grail concepts to many pagan rituals with a presence of death or near death into them. In the context of my story, a scientist who's completely untrained to resist the brutal interaction of a Centrifuge at full speed not only sufffers G lock but gets a near death experience which "opens" the door of his mind to the Grail.
Also, Perceval only learns biological facts because his mind is ready to accept those, as stressed by Gawain with his line "I don't know which questions I must ask. You are the only one who knows them" .
I understand this a lot of information and much of it not revealed explicitely on the film, but hey, I just had a few minutes to tell the story and try not to bore everyone to death :D Again, thanks for the comment though. It's really funny.
Bam! (Javier)…
Complete 💩 THEORY but the clips were cool
Like much science fiction, it references functional qualities of actual science. In this case, the natural ability to retrieve external-to-self data from the brain alone.
@javierm_uk1588 could have based the film more explicitly on your response and made a reference to joe rogan talking about dmt. Of course i'll never see that happening because creators never take suggestions from the fans, it's just a tip. If you ever made a video on dmt with joe rogan you will certainly be invited into his program.
DAMN that was bad...
I think this would be better if longer. It’s missing details.
I agree!
I liked this. There aren't many Autherian stories on Dust.
Great special effects and story. The acting was also super and the overall videography was wonderful. Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing you next video! Thanks!
Wow!
Certified Gold!!!!!!
Bro got centrifuged out of reality
Nope .. when the centrifuge showed up I knew story telling left.
Music from 6:46 is just astounding
''let us not go to camelot, it is a silly place.''
It seems he could've had the same effect, but had more fun if he just got a dominatrix to give him hypoxia. 🙄
My first choice also.
Nah, DMT will trip you like a rocket without the hypoxia. Ask joe rogan
this was interesting. I liked it
So in the interview scene... both characters are seated right next to identical copies of the same desk with identical props? Because if that was the SAME desk, they would have been almost face-to-face and it would have been impossible to see only one of them at a time.
it seems that this video is quite retro futuristic
i dont get it
Same 😢
That was great. It has to be continued. :)
Now THAT'S a long neck. What the hell lol
Edit: Gul Dukat
7:00 Nice Music Cameo :)
I have the impression that I have seen this DUST SHORT FILM before at/via DUST....
That extremely revolving device, and that the man is in it, looks very familiar to me!
The Arthurian Legend seems to have been eclipsed by
The Jedi Knights of Star Wars Galaxy
these days.
But time has not taken away the
impact and influence on
Popular Culture.
I didn't understand what and how "King Arthur and The Knights of the Round Table" had anything to do with it
Music was so loud, I did not hear a word they said.
I mean too say it's great isn't it
Percival's pod was not in the right position to deliver any simulated vertical g. The lights inside the centrifuge flash all the wrong axis. Also, if the goal were to experience g-loc, why bother to do the g breathing?
Yeah, but this was make believe. So, believe.
I love the music it's Excalibur isn't Great 👍👍👍👍👍
Absolutely, no idea what happened.
I'm not sure I see the value in this. The work is done well enough, though I didn't think it was particularly interesting visually. I think much value was lost and the wrong things preserved in the adaptation.
Nice logo, i used to love kde before they did that focken fork a decade ago
I think Absterigo had a safer way of viewing ancient memories lol
Dmt
Sounds like Arthur may have taken some mandatory experimental serum or something?
Nice take on an old myth.
Good start. Where is the rest of it?
Lol
Sooo?💁🏻 Did it work?
??? Point?
And that, kids, is why you don't play 16 hours straight of Dark Souls III before getting into your centrifuge!
☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
Pozdrav i Hvala
What is the music clip at 07:25. I've heard it before but Shazam won't find it
Wagner, Gotterdammerung. Took me ages to find it but no wonder I've heard it lots of places 😂
So if you spin around at higher g-forces until you pass out, you have visions and get smarter? I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that.
So you thought.
You don't get smart, just given a different perspective. If you know the subject you will know how to seek the answer and be able to recognise the answer
You do know this is fiction, right?
Notable en todo excepto en la correlación entre el grupo científico y el ciclo artúrico medieval.
what is the outcome???
Right now, as I watch this, my neighbor's little kid is screaming his little head off and it is pissing me off. I seriously want to tell him to STFU!
What is the secret of the G rail?
It was on the g spot
As a scientist, I must ask...wtf did I just watch?
Someone taking lifting their head in high g then releasing and not having an instant concussion
Just thinking the same thing
A Science "fiction" short, being a scientist has no relevance
@@sativasaraki5577 Wow. Just...wow.
You don't even know how big of an idiot you are, do you?
"Science fiction" doesn't mean:
"Just make up anything you want and then call it scifi."
It's fiction...based around a theme of science.
What ever this was...it wasn't based in any kind of science.
Your statement would be somewhere equal to me watching some really bad version of Schindler's list and saying "As a Jew with an interest in the history of WW2, what the hell did I just watch?"
...and then you come along and reply with "Jewish people have nothing to do with WW2 so your comment is meaningless."
The actors need dialog coaching, so much wrong prosody. I realize they're non-native speakers, but just two or three hundred dollars on a dialog coach sitting beside the director would do it for a short this long.
Damn some people would do it for "free" just in exchange of a photo in the end
I wonder why they decided to do this film in English when it doesn't seem to be either of the actors first language? Was it because King Arthur is a British myth? Or do films in English just reach a wider audience?
Looks ok.good life like annimation.would rather real life actors.oh well,thank u dust.
I love how watching this video is like picking up a novel and reading the first chapter and discovering there's nothing left of a potential story...........Total waste of time. Sorry, not a fanboy of Dust videos which are typically nonsensical and refuse to praise the non praisable simply to sound sophisticated and cultured Give me a video with a beginning, a middle and an end and I'll consider a favorable review if it's deserving.
Agree. Let's face reality, in many ways this was crap with little redeeming
Dust has become scifi's tiktok, they had sooo much potential that they could open a big studio if they doubled the size of the movies or made more full scale. There's so much good stuff going to trash here it's incredible.
Yet all four of you watched the video and then took the time to comment. 🙄
You don't need Centrifugal G-Force to cause Cerebral Hypoxia...
Butane would do the trick easy, DMT would do it without permanent damage.
Well, I couldn't follow the plot, however acting was great, even more to consider whit a problematic storyline. ❣🤷
Je suis une canard.
Phrase in beginning. Blurry and not shown quite long enough
I'm sorry I can't finish this, the narrator at the beginning sounds like AI and the dialogue is... it's not good. As in it's meant to be serious but it's just funny, and it's not meant to be. I can't get past it, I'm sorry.
What was that?
Except of course, we know Galahad finds the Grail, not Percival.
In the movie it was Percival (Excalibur)
actually . who cares . if there are 12 + 1 to create the sacred thirteen (movement of time) then at least every knight should have *his* own take on this really coOol ONE . i really did not understand . first . but instantly loved it by heart b< itSpecial styleAdaptatiOM*analogy. peace *
Hi. Director of the film here! As you might possiby know there are quite several romances that deal with the Grail and the Arthurian myths. The first appearance of the Grail was in Chrétien de Troyes's "Perceval" and Galahad was not even a character back then. That remained true until later accounts and particularly Sir Thomas Malory's "Le Morte d'Arthur" where Galahad becomes the true hero and Perceval is just another knight who helps him complete the quest...so yes, in those later works Galahad is the hero. So, it really depends on the source material. I traced all this from Boorman´s version of Excalibur, and like he did in his wonderful film, I opted for Perceval. Just wanted to clarify this. Thanks for watching it!
why is the centrifuge analog? Big mistake
3nd... But i still miss the sense... No matter, perhaps later...😁
This looks like GGI material , and looks good.
My late husband suffered cerebral hypoxia during surgery. It causes long term brain damage. Cerebral hypoxia does not make you smarter. I wish shows would quit showing BS like this.
I have also suffered in this way during surgery, my memories of several decades has been effectively erased. Strange however I can still fix things, but can't remember the names of things, parts etc. Very frustrating, but then I forget, and do it all over again. People look so old to me because I only remember them from 20-30 years ago, its something I do not wish on anyone. Like my children are now having children, but I remember them only as children. Most of my old friends have died, so there is no one to talk to who remembers what I do. I understand the idea behind this story, and that's fine, because in a week or so it will be new to me again, and I may have a different reaction.
I wish that you can recover from your grief 'Godless Melanisia', and perhaps remember all the good times you had together, and make notes for your family to read in the future. I try to write in little notebooks when I remember something interesting, its funny to find one written months ago on the same subject, with nearly identical words. That has helped me to know with some small possibility of accuracy that when I do remember it's likely to be right, or at the very least remembered in the same way, over and over.
Fourth 🙋🏻♂️
…huhhhhhhhhhh?
Hmm, did not like it. The setting is nice, the reference to king arthur`s mythologie promising, but when using music from wagner, why do you use the Ring and not Parsifal?
That would be a personal choice of the movie maker and you were not the movie maker.
Music top loud... tale is not gripping
Third
First
Nope
Not exactly original work.
2nd
Zzzzzz
"Camelot!"
It's only a model...
Meh... not fan of work done that only makes for a preview of the larger story. Nicely assembled and directed but of NO value! I judge that it would be better to tell your own story from your creativity. This legend has been reworked incessantly. Move on please.
2:54 Overacting much?
Indy film are no good unless they're cgi, obtuse, utterly discontiguous, and slow as molasses in freefall.
I salute the effort, but acting doesn't come naturally (it must be learned) and the story doesn't make any sense. Reboot.
Dissapointing
On the power On El Shaddai Elohim Adoni Ahcad Shama Israel forever and ever Amen

Are you gonna end world hunger with all that word salad ?
No madder than a mRNA jab?🧐
how do people like this - it made no sense
🟦... I'm going to start by saying I enjoyed this Very Much,... The only trip-up for me were the scenes from the centrifuge, at one point he actually relaxed his head AWAY from the headrest @ 5Gs!,....
.... His acting was excellent, but the G-forces that he should have been undergoing were not really represented at all.
(a High-Pressure Air-Nozzle aimed at the actor's face from just out of camera range fed from a big enough tank to do the scene works visually rather well if executed properly).
