That would be true for mixing colors with light. Mixing pigment is a subtractive color mixing process rather than additive. Although, having a heavy background in fine art, I will say the naming I’d think would be opposite and has always confused me. Subtractive = black, additive = white (when all mixed). The best explanation for the names I found was that when you turn off your tv and it goes black, you’ve subtracted all the color and when you add all the colors you get white(??). To me that just sounds like a description from the perspective of mixing light. But enough rambling, it is what it is🤷♀️

It's subtractive mixing so it renders that colour. White light is for additive mixing which uses light while subtractive mixing uses pigments
