      My wife and I have wanted to visit Gettysburg for years. We were both civil war re-enactors back in the '90s. I was with the Second Vermont Volunteer Reg't. of Infantry, while she served in the U. S. Sanitary Commision. It was fun going to schools to give in-character presentations to the classes when they studied their Civil War unit.
      Walking on to the campus in uniform, my wife in her camp dress, and me having all my traps, and with my rifle musket over my shoulder was never an issue. (Obviously we had permission.)
      We were always well received. We would even bring some Civil War music.

    My great great grandfather, Nelson S. Bartholomew was a trooper in the Michigan 5th Volunteer Cavalry regiment, company G under George A. Custer. Was involved in the charges on the East Cavalry Field on July 3rd, that repulsed the flanking action of J.E.B. Stuart's cavalry. He survived the war, living to the age of almost 84, dying in 1914.

    • @wtharris2343

      I am a believer that it was that engagement that decided the battle. The Union position's strength was also its greatest weakness and Lee's plan was brilliant in this regard. This part of July 3 is almost always overlooked. Stuart's lack of preparedness for an engagement as he advanced, for whatever reason, is just head shakingly shocking to me. Pickett's charge was indeed doomed once Custer sent Stuart in retreat. IMHO your Grandfather played a part in perhaps the most important engagement for the preservation of the Union that day. Respects!

    Since childhood I have felt that black and white photographs of historical events and places distorted the reality of the thing. The world has always been in colour and human beings have, with very few exceptions, been seeing it that way from the beginning. All B&W photos of the Civil War, etc. ought to be colourized as accurately as possible. Bravo to you and your team for this presentation.

    • @yauwohn
      @yauwohn 3 года назад

      Probably 90% of photos from that era would have been in color had they had color fast dyes back then. The very first photos were all in color!!! Yes color came before B&W photography!! There are still some color positives in France that were the first photos EVER taken, sadly the dyes didn't hold up too well. Even into the mid to late 20th century, B&W was more popular than color for the very same reason. A lot of mine from the 60's are fading, but thanks to photo editing software I'm bringing them back to life.

So being that it would have been rolled it could have just been one bullet that went through eight thicknesses of the blanket? "Utter subjugation awaits us in the Union, if we should consent longer to remain in it. It is not a matter of choice, but of necessity. We must either submit to degradation, and to the loss of property worth four billions of money, or we must secede from the Union framed by our fathers, to secure this as well as every other species of property. There are at least 116 times that he committed excessive force before he used Police Brutality by physically grabbing me? Google Excessive force, every time that he threatened, coerced, and tried to intimidate me, to give him my Identification information, was the illegal act of excessive force. Most people believe that they must touch you for excessive force, so did i until this happened and i did some more research.

    I was 35 before learning i was a direct decendant of wade hampton. One of lees calv generals and governor of sc during reconstruction as well as serving as raiload chairman during grover clevelands administration. It certainly is beyond comprehension when bloodlines are connected. However, i have always been enamered with this american generation never being able wrap my mind around just how horrific this conflict was to these people on both sides. Fellow countrymen pitted against each other during the intial clash of anchent warfare vs modern war weapons that created the absolute bloodiest conflict anyone could imagine. What a way to find your country just what a hundred years after gaining its independance. Mindboggling!

      WHAT IS EVEN WORSE,IS THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION IS DESTROYING ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING OUR AMERICAN FIGHTING MEN FOUGHT FOR.I PERSONALLY FEEL BAD FOR ANY MAN THAT CARRIED A RIFLE INTO BATTLE AND LOSE THEIR LIFE. I FEEL LIKE THIS ADMINISTRATION IS KILLING THEM ALL OVER AGAIN,ITZ A COMPLETE DISHONESTY TO OUR FALLON HEROS.

      🚨🚨🚨🚓🚨🚨 CAN YOU ALL 🙏 PLEASE READ & ACT! EXCESSIVE BAIL during covid-19 lockdown 6-27-2020. Domestic Terrorist Chief Richard L. Hileman II committed 116 counts of VERBAL EXCESSIVE FORCE" before he committed 4 counts of "POLICE BRUTALITY". I had no legal obligation to produce my Identification at any time during this complete interaction. My actions were protected by the 4th, 5th, and 9th Amendments. He was violating all of them from the first second he stopped my RIGHT TO MOVEMENT or TRAVEL.
      WHO CAN HELP ME TO HELP AMERICA? EVERYONE PLEASE come visit my channel and promote my channel showing Police Brutality upon me, ruclips.net/video/WG9uQOo--sk/видео.html I need these videos to go viral so, please help me to help all of us by supporting and promoting my channel to expose these "DOMESTIC TERRORISTS" that are working for us. "We the People" expect the government agents that we support with our taxes to be honest, trustworthy, and to obey the laws of the Constitution. After all that is their only real job to do. Hold the piece between the People, not to steal from the People by lying, cheating and creating a dispute when there were no victims involved. ruclips.net/user/LuckyCharm100 is my channel "Lucky Charm" and my GOFUNDME is www.gofundme.com/f/ron-needs-life-protecting-personal-body-camera. It is stunning to realize how many lives were lost in Gettysburg. Imagine the sadness of the people living in the town after the battle.

    I've always wanted to do a before and after regarding where bodies were shown to have pictures taken. Unfortunately, I have to rely on rocks because trees have either been destroyed, cut, or have grown much taller. There are alot of photos in the Seminary Ridge Museum that I collected so I could so the before and after but I have never been able to take the time to do it. Maybe I'll do that this year. My husband and I vacation there every year (we are combat veterans and we consider Gettysburg our Disney World).
