Footplate Experience Steam Train.

Bunker first, ex GWR 2-8-0 4277 tackles the journey from Paignton to Kingswear on the Dartmouth Steam Railway. The date is 20th September 2022. Driver Paul and Fireman Ben hard at work. My footplate experience was brilliant. Thank you.

So the driver operates three levers at the start. The red one is the regulator, the silver one in the foreground sets the valve timing via the Walschaert’s motion(?). Does the other one that he operates twice blow steam to empty the cylinders?
